Need Advice - Octagonal stick for TE

Yes and no. There are such things as bad opinions, you know.

Switching to an octo gate without trying to adjust to square makes no sense. I did that when I started on Japanese sticks. I wish I didn’t. Square is really the way to go, especially for SF4.

Increasing the throw on your stick on purpose just makes no sense.

I have no problem with opinions. My problem is when people go beyond opinions telling people what they should like or not. You have to remember that not everyone has the same style of playing and if the square gate worked for you, that’s great. But not everyone is going to share your response. Also, know that people have to try things out for themselves before knowing what they really want, just like you going to octo then switching back. An octo gate is about $2-$5, which is hardly a mistake if you don’t like it.

Anyhow, I’m not attacking you, just simply asking for a better and more useful response other than “get use to the square gate”.

I love the octo gate in my TE stick.

Modding it is very easy if you keep the stock sanwa. (Putting in a ls-32 shouldnt be a pro either)

I’ve ordered the octogate and also a ls-33 spring and will try it out and see what the throw is like otherwise i’ll do the tape mod from this excellent tut:

i might even get a LS-55-01, its not exactly expensive…I’ll give everything a try and see what its like.
