What makes Bison anti-shoto?
I’m playing Ken and Ryu and the only matchup where I rape people rated much higher than me is vs. Bison.
Unless you mean Boxer, that guy is a tough nut for Ken/Ryu, imo.
That match is apparently still a bitch to play on both sides so it’s a good bet if you think you have a better temper than your opponent.
Akuma as an anti-shoto choice, especially as an anti-Akuma, anti-Ryu choice is just stupid. You’re basically going into a mirror match with a secondary against the opponent’s main. It doesn’t make one iota of sense.
Cammy, Yun and Ibuki are pretty good options. Sakura to some extent too.
Until you can honestly say you are playing the matchup perfectly, no drops, hitting every punish all the time with the optimal punish, perfect spacing, recognition of every setup and normal to the last frame, know every counter to every approach, know what you and your opponents options are at all times, and what you will do if he does A B or C…
I would say it is not your character that is the problem.
“Anti Shoto” is a bad term in my opinion. Even tho they have similar special moves, the normal moves are quite diverse and what works good against Akuma may not work at all on Ken. Ibuki I think isn’t a great counter to ken at low levels, since all one needs to do when Ibuki jumps over for a cross up is to do a step kick to quickly get out of range. WIth that being said, I have ad much luck fighting the flowchart shotos with Cody
That’s a bit unreasonable as maybe less then 5% of the combined players that play this game fall into this category. Even pros mess up at times. Hell, even pros counter pick.
My honest recommendation is: pick a character with a jump and make sure that character can block. If you really wanna stick it to those dirty shoto players, pick a character with a focus attack… That’ll show em…
DIsagree with this, If you are a T. Hawk player getting blown up by a Juri Player, it will take you much less time to pick up E. Honda and blow her up with him than it will to learn to win that match with Hawk
I wonder the relevance of angel eyes being able to fight the sagat match up. Is it because he is too good? is the match up easier geif players say it is? maybe its a combo of both? perhaps after you learn the match up correctly it is a 5-5…
IDK, food for thought, or maybe fools gold…
If you play T. Hawk your gonna have a bunch of bad match ups. Whats the point of even playing that character? I agree with your statement though, Honda shits on Juri.
Blanka is a much bigger problem than T.Hawk than Juri. If they pick Juri, I’m merely happy enough they didn’t pick Blanka. Balrog’s a pain. Funnily enough Zangief has pretty decent matchups vs these in comparison.
To answer Dizz_88’s question;
I find Condor Dive to be hilarious, like a dive kick but with my face.
Mexican Typhoon is incredibly bad ass
T.Hawk actually has fantastic normals and I’ve grown familiar with them
Edit: Oh and U2 seems more reliable to me than Zangief’s to do on reaction
His upcoming buffs (Movement speed) aren’t too shabby, but USF4 just brings another grappler to be better than him infinitely. I’ll just play all 3 a bunch and see what feels right.
As for the topic at hand - I know how you feel with wanting characters who can beat certain characters. If the character you like to play has a few matchups you’d rather not be playing, try to pick up a secondary who kinda evens it out. Don’t look to straight up counterpick those matchups but to try to round things up. This game is a lot more than Rock Paper Scissors.
I found T. Hawk very good not vs. certain characters, but vs certain players. If you have someone who shows you too much respect and blocks too much you can have a blast with T. Hawk My first major tournament was one of the seasons beatings, I was playing Juri and i thought I was a bad mofo when I shredded a T. Hawk player off stream for my first win. Then had My ass destroyed by two honda players in a row, second honda was a streamed match
