Is it the forward dash, backdash, j.MK setup? That one’s alright. I’m not sure how effective it would be against better players. The setup whiffs on the opponent if he just stands there. I’d rather get a meaty or something that actually looks DPable on wakeup so that it actually does bait a DP.
Yep, that’s the one. I like to do it at least once just to put it in their mind that I have it. But you’re right that its use is limited and we’d probably be better of with something far more reliable. Here’s a recent set between Damdai and Alucard that may be worth analyzing as far as the Necalli vs Ryu MU goes. https://youtu.be/Lz_ulf9NRvM?t=12m17s
I actually think the matchup vs Ryu is hard. I lost to SD | Ilija in a local tournament recently. Any matchup knowledge or other videos on this specific matchup is appreciated.
i’d like to know as well, when i get the pressure on its easily in Necalli’s favor but everything i threw out vega had an answer for and least when it came to footises
This is a good suggestion. I have been starting to write down extensive match up notes in a word document for my own benefit, and I will definitely share whatever I think is valuable but its a lot… This format seems pretty good though, you can go a long way with these basics for each match up.
Then more esoteric match up information can go elsewhere.
Anyone have a good strategy to deal with Nash’s v skill on wakeup?
I try to watch for it pretty close now but I’d love to be able to pressure AND respond to V skill if it comes out. I try to st.lk and then react with jab if he stays on the same side, throw if it’s v-reversal, st. mk if nothing. But sometimes he goes to the other side, on the ground or in the air. I can’t even block the right way unless I’m looking for it.
I don’t know how to practice against this though, since you cant get the dummy to do it on wakeup.
Well it should, right? But I’m not sure how it works, isn’t it supposed to be vulnerable for the first frame? I don’t know how to practice against it though, so I’m not sure. I have only beat it with a meaty when the V-trigger sends him behind me on the ground. I whiff whenever he goes up in the air. That probably means I’m not frame perfect, but does a proper meaty beat it clean every time?
Lol okay so for clarification, you do mean V-Trigger, which is the teleport and not the V-Skill which absorbs fireballs for V-Meter.
To answer your question, yes, Nash’s V-Trigger is vulnerable on the first frame. To practice for it, you can just set wake-up options and have Nash V-Trigger on wakeup after you knock him down. It shouldn’t matter which version of V-Trigger he uses, you should be able to beat it every time. But you do have to hit it on the first frame.
Little tip, though. If Nash ever does a raw V-Trigger, you’ll avoid all his options with forward jump.
Maybe I did something wrong, but when I recorded V-trigger as a wake up option it didn’t come out, he just stood there. So I’ll have to look at that again but I’m not sure it’s possible to get the dummy to activate V-trigger on wake up.
And thanks for the tip, that’s very helpful. He has some pretty tricky mix ups especially after sonic boom, but I can see that jump forward will be very effective here!
The wakeup and block recovery recording options are weird. You have to make sure they’re done on reversal or they don’t come out in playback. It’s a weird thing, idk why it works that way. Lol but yeah, make sure you’re doing it on reversal when you record it. If it’s still not coming out in playback, I have no idea. Sorry in advance. ._.
Does anyone have some general tips for the Cammy Matchup? Lots of people asked already, but maybe since some time has passed people came up with new tech?
I have a hard time approaching her to apply pressure, especially since i feel her midrange game is tough to get through. V-Skill is also tougher to apply in this MU for me at least, since she is airbone quite often…
Cammy is a hard mu for me. Mostly because my scene only has two Cammy players and they show up very sporadically. The only useful thing I can think of is using st.MP as an anti-air for the dive kicks that don’t give you enough time to buffer DP.
It’s a hard match up. I think you have to do a lot of baiting her into jumping and anti airing. Use v skill to show you’re willing, then do some squats to try to get her to jump.
You have to utilize v skill to some degree, even if it’s just the threat of it, because her buttons are better at every range.
If the cammy is prone to using normals instead of dp as anti air, dive kick can really blow her up. Obviously there is more risk in testing those waters, but I’ll try it early just to see.
Any tips against Laura matchup? I can’t seem to get out of the vortex once she gets in. I started to utilize the vreversal against her but it kinda sucks since I can’t activate vtrigger early when that happens.
For the most part, don’t let her in. Necalli outfootsies her. Her safest ways in are jump and V-Skill, so look to anti-air or jab her out of VS. Once she gets in, it’s a matter of guessing. Laura loses at neutral so she’s going to want to stay in as long as possible. Also, learn her frame data and setups. If at any point she’s at negative or neutral frame advantage, challenge with jab. She’ll either lose or trade. Either way, she’ll have to work her way back in.
does anyone else think balrog might end up being tough for necalli? I can’t seem to play around balrog’s s.hp, and unless i land a jump in (which means other player was fucking asleep since balrog has excellent AA) I just have a tough time getting in.
one counterpoint: neutral jump is very effective to discourage balrog dash punching
I seriously need some tips vs Vega. Completely helpless here.
I just cant get close to him. Its basically me chasing him 95% of the match, but he keeps jumping away and randomly does some flying barcelona mixups. I block or get hit, he jumps away and same shit over again. V-Skill is nearly useless since he is airborne all the time plus its risky versus his special attacks. I tried using MP DP a bit against flying barelona, since it has late invincibilty frames, but i miss more than i hit…
The only way i succeed right now is by getting a knockdown and then just do my Necalli Rushdown thing. But most of the time i feel like i luck out since my opponent cant handle the pressure (Gold level mostly). Im completely helpless in the neutral game…
