Necalli General Thread: Necalli enters the Tournament!

I can see that. He does get new visual effects on his clawing normals it seems but those effects also appear on his special moves like his claw special and DP so it might be a half and half situation. I wasn’t able ot see any major difference between either besides changes in the animations for both normals and specials.

So can we do a rundown of characters Necalli was most likely inspired by?

So far I’ve counted:

  • Evil Ryu (in his Alternate costume)
  • Hanma Yujiro (from Baki the Grappler)
  • Kars (from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)
  • Tarzan (feral/wild behaviour during a fight like a primal animal)
  • Son Goku (in his Super Sayian God form)

Anything else?

YOUR MOM LOL

I’ve heard people mention of Asura as well.

Rando from Yu Yu Hakusho

There’s a lot of speculation in this post.

He has Maori traits but his name has an Aztec meaning. Also the yellow square swirl designs on his footwear are archetypical of pre-Columbian Mexico. It isn’t that confusing. Like I joked earlier, he really could be something more than human with a very long lifespan. If he’s centuries old then he could have gone all over the world and been influenced by the places he visited as well as have an influence on them(like how Kotal Kahn visited the Mayans and they took him for a god; naming him Buluc).

Necalli says “Devour-our-our” in the trailer. This, presumably said to his opponent, implies cannibalism. Both the Aztec and Maori have histories of cannibalism. Accounts of Aztec cannibalism are more debatable. Cortez could have said anything to make the crown believe the Aztecs were subhuman savages that needed civilizing. Still, all Mesoamerican historians believe there was at the very least human sacrifice. The Maoris kill and eat their enemies after battle. It is said they gain the mana of the fallen foes. They don’t do it nearly as much now but hey, fighting game national stereotypes. There’s also the fact that Capcom isn’t tying him down to a nationality so people won’t get offended. He’s from “Unknown”. They should have said “Parts Unknown”.

All of that leads me to believe he is some kind of combination of Tekken’s Ogre and the Pillar Men. It was never said that Ogre eats his opponents, he simply absorbs their soul. His Japanese name is Toshin, which means “battle god”. The Pillar Men did eat humans, and considering how Urien and Gill are clearly Pillar Men homages/parodies this could be a tie-in. Maybe Gill and Urien are “farm grown” while Necalli is “wild caught”.

Everytime I see Necalli’s super I want to yell, berserker barrage x

Dat Dark Hadou

He reminds me of Genpei Touma Den.

From Aztec warrior to Japanese Demon?

:tup:

Dropping everything. Maining this guy no matter what.

Dive kick? command grab? DP? We in there.

I like how any character with red hair is automatically the same exact character design.

Hilarious! Welcome aboard!

Liking the guy.

But I can’t let go of the fact that he looks like Evil Ryu with his alt. costume with long hair. His divekick and axe-kick like animations don’t make it easier. The red glows, the eyes, everything is too much Evil Ryu-esque. Tell me these two don’t look like while you also know E.Ryu’s hair is red although not in this costume.

His eyes actually remind me more of Seth and Abel being yellow and black, maybe an incomplete S.I.N. project that successfully incorporated the Satsui no Hadou that got loose and found his way into the Aztec ruins? I dunno since there are a million different ways they could explain this guy.

I really hope he has nothing to do with Satsui no Hado. Him getting tangled into Akuma’s crap would take him down from 10/10 to 7/10 IMO.

A bridge between sin and illuminati perhaps.

Visually, he’s so over-the-top I think he’d make a great WWE character. :smile:

Moves and the troll doll hair effect look fun though. Very much like to know how he fits into the story.

.__.

Capcom, you did it again.

@supe i was thinking the same thing. Started looking through wwe/wcw characters to see if I could find a resemblence. I am guessing Ultimate Warrior maybe Kane.

Urien --> The Game/ECW Kurt Angle
Alex --> Hulk Hogan/John Cena?
Vega --> Shawn Michaels

Would lose my mind if they made a character based off the Rock or mid ninties Stonecold.
