How does knee pressure work with Necalli, if at all? I haven’t looked at his frame data so I haven’t had a chance to see what blockstrings you can create with stomps, or what you can convert off of CH stomp.
The tech thread has everything you need!
Lk stomp is -4 on block, only want to use that at a distance where you won’t get punished, so you probably won’t get a usable counter hit off that one.
Mk stomp already combos into cr mp, so you would probably go with that in CH anyway.
Really though, look at the tech thread.
Man, I think I’m gonna have to eat my words on Necalli being sub-par. Pros like PR Balrog and Haitani showing he’s a super solid character. I think he’s one of those characters who just takes pure strategy and fundamentals to be good with. He doesn’t really have shenanigans. I like that about him, and in VTrigger he’s super fun.
Yeah I’m having a change of heart too. I still dont think hes entirely my character but hes quite strong.
Wait what? The guy with a DP, command grab, full screen fireball counter and safe knee pressure is strong?
Who woulda guessed
You forgot dive kick!
dive kick is kinda butt.
We were all expecting a pressure character at first (given some of the initial posts I’ve seen) but hes something else.
I just couldn’t resist. It’s use is… Limited at best.
I still think necalli is solid mid tier perfectly capable of winning a major. Didn’t get to see PR rog play, was disappointed be got knocked out so early.
Haitani was the most hype player at Final Round by far. If he’d just anti-aired better then I think he could have made it to grand finals.
The dive kick isn’t terrible, it’s just that you have to only use it if you can screw up their anti-airs. The payout isn’t that great and it gets outright blown up by DPs, but against Chun it really helps turn the match around.
As for Necalli being a pressure character, I still think he is? Haitani’s matches were basically him trading and often losing in neutral until he gets a corner knockdown and then either riding that to victory or getting VT and just dashing in and going ham. He’s very much a super rushdown character.
Vs tokido he just hit too many buttons and ate heavies into full combos to allow the comeback.
And I agree with you @Muttonman, necalli struggles in neutral, makes up for it with corner pressure. That and the dash into scoop. So fun to see that work so often.
When I said pressure character, keep in mind that I’m coming from a Yang background. The pressure he has is very different as when hes on you, that’s just how it’s gonna be.
Necalli is like Makoto w a few adjustments. Hes explosive just like her, a long dash etc
In the corner he is crazy. Positively. Outside the corner, he has to fight to stay in. But he kind of gets his damage and gets reset to neutral until he pushes to the corner.
I find that Necalli is a stun monster. If he gets succesful hits on the offense, he can stun rather quickly compared to most.
Why is CC Cr/St HP such ass? I hit it way more than St HK but all i seem to be able to follow it up with is a mk stomp
Best thing about Necalli is you can definitely make your opponents scared to push buttons when you get in close. He’s + on a lot of his buttons and probably one of the easiest characters in the game to fish for counterhits with. His st.lp is amazing at stopping jump-ins (from certain distances) and cross-ups, but it is best in the corner where it seems everyone and their dog is so fond of jumping backwards or neutral jumping. His burst damage is also pretty high, and his V-Trigger gives him amazing mobility and can strike fear into your opponent.
That said, he certainly struggles against certain characters. His normals are stubby and the fact that LK stomp whiffs so much of the time hurts his damage at midscreen. He gets out-poked by characters like Chun, Karin, Nash, Ryu and Birdie if they know what they’re doing.
He’s a strong character for sure. The best? Highly doubt it.
Was reading through the thread and wondering how a character with a 3f jab, invincible DP, a command grab, high damage and a VT that improves most of his data including his movement could ever be bad… People seemed to change their tune after watching Haitani and Rog though which is cool. Reynald was putting in work at NCR too.
can someone post the new colors with and without vtrig?
It’s because of this game’s emphasis on strong neutral. Necalli is lacking a bit there but he’s still really good. Someone else in the general thread made a list of characters that have either strong neutral, 3frame jab or reversal. And Necalli has 2 of those checked - a strong character for sure and his neutral does get better in V-trigger.
I actually don’t think this game is as neutral oriented as people claim. Rush down or keep away are the keys.
Im guessing its because the game is more Third Strike-esque.
3s was very neutral based
