I think hes an Aztec. Brazil has the largest section of the amazon forest. There are tribes deep in the amazon that havent even met current civilization right now. Im guessing thats what Capcom’s take on him. Is if u listen to him talking at the beginning of the match he sounds like his speaking some kind of tribe language He’s in brazil but hes far from being brazillian.

Except his stage in the trailer is the New Zealand stage, not Brazil.

His name isn’t remotely Maori.
His name sounds nahuatl… so some kind of Aztec.

If they wanted a Maori guy they really messed up by not having some intricate facial tattooing and giving him the wrong name.

Just because his stage is in New Zealand does not mean he is from there. This isn’t World Warriors.
Urien isn’t Mexican but his stage is an Olmec ruin site in Mexico.

I’m honestly thinking Necalli’s going to turn out to be an amalgamation of all ancient warrior types, in terms of his looks. He’s described simply as a warrior from ancient times, and he goes around hunting souls. So, I’m thinking that means that he has spent time with or fighting against Maori tribesmen, African tribesman, Aztec warriors, hell, maybe even a few cavemen, and just kinda picked up some style from all of them.

From Famitsu, how is he an ancient warrior but he is still alive? No Street Fighter has displayed that kind of immortality. Is it his diet?

He doesn’t smell of Illuminati or Shadaloo either.

Well he apparently collects the souls of other warriors so he could be extending his life by those means. Either that or hes only learned ancient warrior ways or is some kind of clone of an ancient warrior made by the Illuminati.

Necalli’s V-trigger is a permanent change. I don’t know if for the rest of the fight or just the round but once you pop it, you stay in V-trigger. Which means he wouldn’t be able to use V-reversals because no one can gain V-gauge while in V-trigger. It’s just logical really, and it doesn’t seem like a huge drawback.

Pretty much means that once you pop V, you’re gonna wanna rushdown like a beast and forget defense.

I wonder what exactly “new frame data” means. I’ve seen genei jin described as “new frame data” but that doesn’t really get the point across. I’m guessing it only means increased frame advantage on some moves, but it’d be interesting if it unlocked some special properties as well, like the twins, feng shui engine or Aja SA2.

Character is a little better than meh for me, but I’m glad they gave a character for those Evil Ryu, Oni, Akuma xxXShin-Black-Demon-GodXxx loving players that is a little more interesting than they typically are.
