NC Thread LXVII (67) - RIP MaximumBurst

Good stuff tonight at WNB.

Caught some red flags going up tonight. Not going to play downback 13.

#1)Throws can not be use as punish. Throw break timing is eat a sandwich timing.
#2) No useful overheads, small jump was never that.
#3) Absolute Gaurd= yuck
#4) Gaurd Crush strategic play is gone due to guard meter length and recovery is too fast.
#5) Over protection on wake up ie: invulnerable time for throws and attacks removes surprise mix game.
#6) Super meter rewarded for guarding is too high. KOF was about offensive meter reward, now it is a samurai rage gauge. A defensive players wet dream.
#7) And…crouch C is viable anti air under mid-screen pressure some of the cast=gay.

I feel like i have played this game before some where i just can not put my finger on it…It is like putting it on the back of a milk carton and reading on the back “have you seen me”

#1)Throws can not be use as punish. - Why would you punish with throw when there are so many more damaging options?
#2) No useful overheads, small jump was never that. - Depends on the character. You have short hop / hyper hop and empty jump go low.
#3) Absolute Gaurd= yuck - Stagger your strings more if it’s giving you problems.
#4) Gaurd Crush strategic play is gone due to guard meter length and recovery is too fast. - That’s game preference really. I think the guard crushes are fine, they aren’t handed to you like they are in SC5. Gotta get them really scared and read them to be rewarded with potential death. Since damage is so high that’s probably why they made them harder to get.
#5) Over protection on wake up ie: invulnerable time for throws and attacks removes surprise mix game. - You still have high low, left right, bait reversal then throw, safe jumps, etc.
#6) Super meter rewarded for guarding is to high. KOF was about offensive meter reward, now it is a samurai rage gauge. - That much is true.

Done with downback. 15 years.

Moving on.

I laughed pretty hard at that SS match, not gonna lie. Why does the crab walk guy stab Hanzo in the balls repeatedly for his throw?

But eh, to each their own. Saying KoF13 is a downback game is pretty ridiculous though. None of us are good enough to play it well offensively yet, that’s all.

lol so you won? It sounded like that dude was doing nothing but talking shit. Not surprising at all.

Huh… It sounds almost as if you think that’s the end of me. I’ll challenge you to a mm once again once I can handle being around people without my medicine, and play more in-life people. That combo and reset I told you doesn’t work on Fortune? It does, both of em, but I’ve never used them offline. Everytime I dropped a combo, I wasn’t dropping a combo, I was going for a reset. I’
ll have to work really hard at it, but once I get those things down (somehow…) I’m coming back for my money.

OMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

Actually, nevermind. I spent all of last night thinking about how I could overcome these things, but only now do I realize how long they will take, if they can even be accomplished by me. Answer: too long. Do you want to play me in xbl? The main reason I was so ready to bet you 20 was because you underestimated my playing (even though I gave you no reason to not). Not for money or anything, I just want to show you that I’m a competent player, environment notwithstanding.

PS. These aren’t excuses for my lose. They were explanations. I know that sounds lame, but here’s another explanation. If I wasn’t hindered by the environment, I probably would have still lost, but the score would have looked more like 6-10. The only way I could have won was if I got lucky and made him doubt his Fortune’s ability to win with some of those resets (that I kept missing), and he switched characters.

I’m pretty sure painwheel would have done fine too. I just like Fortune though. I wasn’t about to try Peacock even though that match seems in her favor because I feel like you need to play perfect for it to be. One mistake and she’s in and that’s a dead peacock.

I don’t “doubt your skills” or whatever. You did alright. You stopped mashing 360 most of the time atleast so I felt like it was a real match for the most part. I’m definitely more experienced than you and I think it showed. If you want to challenge me again, my wallet can always make room for more cash. As far as XBL, I play on PSN when I do play.

As far as the environment, we were both hindered by the noise and distractions of DBZ story discussion. We both played with the same handicaps so it really doesn’t matter.

Were you born with social anxiety that is so strong that even though you’ve tried every day of your life to force yourself into situations to make yourself better capable of dealing with it, anything above a certain level will make you physically ill? If not, then I don’t think we played with the same hindrances.

Actually yes, although not around people I’m comfortable with. It’s pretty annoying to deal with. Lets not make SRK our pity party page though.

Wanted to say you can punish rolls with throws in kof. Still not your best option usually but it is the exception to the rule.

Who in the world was laming it out in KOF? lol. It sounds like everyone blocked Ed’s unsafe moves really.

I’m known more as a lame/defensive player and often I can’t win that way against good players. I picked up a pure rushdown character precisely for that reason. Let’s not forget that half the game’s characters have command throws, most of them starting combos and/or invincible or instant. I think crossups (especially with air command normals that do days of hit stun) are really good too.

edit: oh yeah and how late did KOF start/when did it finish? I couldn’t go anyway because of church but I’ll be there next time.

Dont :coffee:

It didn’t finish till around 1. Half asleep grand finals lets go!

Talked to them about maybe changing how they run each tournament schedule wise so that probably won’t happen next time.

Are Tekken and SG going to be at the tourney?

The DBZ story discussion was the highlight and if anything the hype part of the MM. Why neither one of you took off your shirt and attempted going super saiyan is beyond me. :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: Look what I found Javier and Lu…
