New guy here. Long time SRK reader, but never really got involved with the community. Anyhoo, I was wondering if there is a group that plays regularly in the Raleigh area? Is there any action at/around NC state? I am currently a student there, but have not really had much time for gaming. Now with classes out I can actually pick up my controller again and play!
Different people host sessions for people to come out around the area. There’s more info on the first post that tell you the people hosting some of these in Raleigh and some surrounding areas. There are a good amount of people that play in Raleigh but it depends on what game you’re looking for. I would recommend sending people holding a session a message and just following the thread to see who might be hosting what as sometimes the days may change based on that person.
ggs at Epik Niki’s, and thanks for hosting. Was good to have gotten so much Tekken in as well as messing with the stream and playing Arcana.
Also Demo, if you want to check out the recordings, they’re on my ustream page… I got it posted like 3 or 4 posts back… They’ll be on there until the EZ tournament this coming Saturday.
GGs at Niki’s place, OJ and I went at it for a good long while in Marvel once the power came back on.
So yeah, my PS3 is bricked. I got YLOD at the gathering when we started up Marvel. Finally found a screwdriver to remove the HDD when I got home, sadly it didn’t work. So now I have a huge 40GB black box with my copy of MvC3 stuck in it.
If anyone here knows how I can get my copy of Marvel out of the PS3 and get all my game data off the HDD, please let me know. I’m probably gonna buy a new one with a bigger HDD anyway, I just don’t want to lose all my saves.
Only way to get the data off the hard drive is for the system to boot and you do a backup to transfer to new system. PS3 hard drives are locked to the system its formatted in; if you try to put your 40gb in another system it won’t be read and you’ll be asked to format. If you do get it to boot, you should go into every PSN account on your system and disassociate it with that system.
The game should be simpler. Best case you’ll have it in stand by, push eject and it’ll pop out. Worst case you’ll have to open the system and take the top off the blu ray drive.
YLOD is usually a solder break on the CPU or GPU, more often GPU. You can find people who can fix it for $50-70 on craiglist.
Had to look all this up for another friend who’s PS3 YLODed on him.
This is Julian: if you don’t have your PS3 still under warranty and you don’t mind spending about $25-$40 (depending on what tools you already have) you can try to open it up yourself and re-flow the cpu/gpu. If anything it should get it back up long enough to copy all your saves, but my PS3 is working fine so far after the second fix.
