Let me clarify this better. The top 3 players will get the full 70/20/10 split from all the game entry fees, this will not be taken away from them. The pot bonus to the top 32 would come from sponsors. I would only suggest doing something like this for majors with multiple sponsors. For local tournaments the standard 70/20/10 split for top 3 is perfectly fine.
More people getting paid = more people thinking they have a chance to get paid = more people entering tournaments = total pot goes up and FGC grows. See World Series of Poker for what I’m talking about.
just a quick reminder for Raleigh area people that SeasOfCheese was hosting a Marvel gathering tonight.
i hope some people can make it out!
If they could get sponsors to do it and NOT come from the pot… that might be pretty cool.
right right, I see. misunderstood. I thought it was split like that for the whole pot not the bonus material.
Best part of Final Round was top tier smurvis shit talk
Wait, who are you again Deadpool? I didn’t think I had met/seen you yet. I knew a few people by both their real name and screen name, but if I met you in real life at FR/Luckys then I never caught your screen name.
How was the pot split at FR anyway?
Combofiend was the favorite to win the tournament if you ask the top players there. Just sayin, he was by no means the underdog.

Fact: Shuma comes out today
Fact: I’m excited and depressed because I have to pay for it…
Yes sir. Good old DLC. I wonder how long it will go on before people stop buying DLC after paying 60 for a game, if they ever do? If they don’t release the game as a whole then they should not charge the full price for it. I can see if it is something like a year later or a complete revamp, but not a month after the game is out. Just my 2cents 0_o
Fact: Capcom DLC is meant to deliberately troll players
Proof: They don’t even offer characters they KNOW people want as DLC, but release characters like Nina Williams and Shuma just because they know people will pay for them anyway, so it doesn’t even matter.
I agree with Top 8 payout only for major tournaments. If the game is big enough to require 8 pools, then logically there should be a top 8 payout. Winning a pool is pretty much on equal level as winning a state-level tournament.
It’s an accomplishment that deserves to be rewarded, and most other competitions with the same level of participants (as ryucross mentioned, World Series of Poker being foremost among them) do reward players beyond just top 3.
More rewards = more incentive to enter = more players = bigger pots = more rewards.
Dude Jimmy has explained this a million times. It probably wasn’t in the budget when they were making the game.
Dude they were already on the fucking discs that were shipped out.
Exactly, and we paid for full price for the game too. Rape that shit Capcom.
How much have you spent on DLC for 4? I know I have bought the second pack for every character on release day for both systems. I could have bought a car with that money, lol.
They have a budget for the main game, and a budget for every set of DLC. But shit, everyone knows that day one they already have made plans to release DLC. They focus on getting out a fully functioning launch product, and start work on the DLC afterwards. A lot of the times the main shit for the game is done way before they start making discs and putting them in boxes. At that point the only thing really left to do is for the QA guys to iron out the bugs cause the launch day game is “ready.” So they start working on DLC shit too, and sometimes they get the first DLC done in time to just go ahead and put it on the disc instead of making it a downloadable file. It’s part of the business model. Hell, they probably STARTED with a budget and a DLC budget on day 1 with the plan to release extra characters.
It doesn’t matter if it’s on the disc at launch, has to be downloaded through the westernets, or if Capcom has to send everybody a fucking carrier pigeon with Shuma Gorath in it. If it’s not in the original budget, and part of a planned DLC, it’s extra. If it happens to get done and gets put on the disc, good shit. But it doesn’t change what it cost to make, only when they finished it.
That depends on how you define “fully functioning”. The game director made a shitload of promises about the final retail product that he did not keep.
I don’t define it. It was just the way I typed it. You could honestly just as easily omit that, and my point wouldn’t change. It was just a minor part of a bigger picture.
Either way I don’t care. If they keep making games then bring on the DLC. It’s ultimately up to you to DL it anyways so it’s not guaranteed money. Like I said, I just want the games
