Lag is lag. Even if you can’t necessarily detect it, your execution will suffer.
Corner-Trap, don’t you use Honda and Balrog? Don’t they have, like, super easy mode combos?

Greensboro… anyone?

The video is interesting, but no conclusive. Conclusive means that you can rule out everything except the proposed hypothesis. In that video you can’t rule out human error, and it was two tests done separately then overlapped instead of one test. Get two identical monitors, connect the systems to them, connect two high quality PCBs, and run the inputs through the same switch (they make them, I have one). Record both monitors and record the set up for the experiment. And do it twice (or three times), once with a 360 user, once with a PS3 user (3rd time with someone who doesn’t give a damn, or a Wii user). And to show there is no error with the monitors, you do the test twice with each system on each monitor set. To truly cover your ass, you perform the experiment with multiple games. Do it with BlazBlue, Soul Calibur or Tekken, and hell, Bayonetta/DMC/other action game (because input lag is also built in by the programmers. Fighting games typically have 2 frames, other games have up to 5).
The difference between scientifically conclusive and guy on internet making argument is the length you go to in order to remove doubt. In other words: do SRK Mythbusters.
True enough that lag is lag but if it’s impossible to detect lag and your execution is suffering then that’s all in your head. Honda is pretty easy mode execution after HHS but if you want to play Balrog past c.LP>c.LP>c.LK then he has quite a handful of 1-2 frame links.
cr. lp, cr. lp, cr. mp be one frame for Balrog.
Same with Jab>Ultra. So Balrog is a little more complex than Honda.
Not by much though…
It’s not like you even need the 1 frame links with rog. . . They just look pretty.
Nah son, I play Dee Jay and two of his BnBs are 1f and 2f links respectively. Need that shit.
Cr. lp, Cr. lp, Cr. mp > dread kick = 1f
cr. lp, cr.lp, cr.mk = 2f
Sorry, I meant with rog. lol
I think he meant for Balrog.
ninja’d
Someone please explain to me why Rufus has a smaller horizontal hurtbox than Cammy.
I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU FUC–
Whew. Nevermind.
No but seriously, what Ron said needs to be done. And it has been. And that test is what proved that the game drops 2 frames over the course of approximately a minute using a jump test. A dual-modded stick was hooked into both systems and the user held up to jump (that is still an input) and they stayed perfectly synchronized for I think 26 seconds, where the PS3 dropped it’s first frame and desynched. Later, at the 52 second mark it dropped another frame. So over the course of an entire PS3 round, it probably drops a total of approximately 3 frames, but they’re not input delay frames they’re just… frames of animation. It just skips one about every 26 seconds.
A “check me out, I have APPARANTLY pushed these buttons at the same time and it’s 2 frames off” test is bullshit. Now if they were both 360 controllers hooked to 360 vs PS3 then maybe. But kinda like how Sanwa buttons are more reactive than the stock buttons I don’t know when those shoulder buttons registered, just when they looked like they did.
Also, 2 frames is significant. 1 frame is 17ms and to be a tournament approved TV it needs to have I think preferably <8ms or 8-14ms I believe. A little higher is still kinda ok but can be noticed by some players and then once you hit 34ms+ (2 frames) that shit gets thrown at the window and that’s why I don’t go to Gamefrog. Also, Gief’s easy combo has a 2f link, and his hard combo has 2-3 1f links back to back.
Also, the thread title is stupid. Blooda changed the last thread (for whatever reason) and now this one mentions Whoopi too. Jesus Christ, it’s a joke Roski started to pick at Q not our fucking state motto. I approve of the counterpicking part though, cause people do that shit.
Fuck Keits.
There are no words to describe the degree to which Ron and Jimmy are gdlk.
the ps3 has more input delay

being able to combo into rogs ultra from jab seems pretty useful to me.
The video as a standalone means nothing whatsoever, but it has a link in the description that DOES mean something. The link is to a JP blog. I don’t have those characters enabled nor do I read the language. It’s all squares for me. But it looks like he wired two controllers to some sort of device and was pressing some exposed wiring together, which sounds pretty legit in theory. But when it comes to all that, I’m not sure exactly what it is that he’s doing. I’d have to hear more before I’d be willing to jump on the “PS3 lags” boat. Like what exactly it is that this guy did and if it, from a technical standpoint, is a legit test. The only legit tests I’ve seen so far point to 1 frame every 26 seconds. But if someone else has finally done something to prove that it actually does lag, I’ll believe it. I just have to know what it is he did, and why that makes it legitimate.
Yeah, so far the only test I’ve seen that conclusively eliminates human error is the jump test. 2 dropped frames every minute? Means practically nothing. If you can actually sense and react to such an infinitesimally small window of time, you need to be blowing people out of the water or hustling those grimey ass games at the mall where you stop the light and win free iphones or something.
Also this thread title isn’t even a joke. It’s just a summation of two things that were briefly discussed.
Already exists though.
With jab jab 2short headbutt.
my links are god dont ever quote my links again especially, you smurvis lmao.
but naw that 1.7 frames average can make a differ in a perfect safe jump, whether you walk into fireball or not at really close distances. That test was done correctly with the same button mapped to both consoles
How so? It does like, no damage. It just looks pretty.
Shout outs to Demo and purifyweirdsoul at Goldsboro.
I am so fuckin free on a pad.
Fixed.
Regarding inherent lag, you would also have to make sure that it wasn’t a difference in arcade stick PCBs for the two platforms.
