The Philadelphia Eagles take their sad sideshow to “Jerry World” to take on their NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys. Plain and simple, a lot is going to have to go right to keep the Eagles in this one. They were competitive in their first meeting with the Cowboys, but ultimately, after their loss to the Panthers, it’s hard to imagine the Eagles finding a way to shut down the Cowboys as they chase the Giants for the division crown.
The last time these two teams met, the Cowboys beat the Eagles by 15 points. Dallas’ defense scored two touchdowns, and fans were optimistic about the Cowboys’ playoff chances. Another fun fact about this game on Sunday night is that Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is still out with a concussion and Dallas gets to tee off against rookie Nick Foles.
Dallas has a 5-6 record. A win against Philadelphia just evens their record, but we’ll delve into the Cowboys’ playoff chances another day. Neither team is looking good right now, although for Dallas, the trouble seems to be inconsistency and underperformance, while for Philadelphia, the trouble is a complete meltdown that seems to be heading into the realm of a major shakeup for the organization.
Then the Cowboys came home to play the Redskins, and the train went off the tracks again. Dallas went down by 25 points at the half and never recovered. When the Dallas Cowboys host the Philadelphia Eagles, the game may come down to how well a trio of backup linebackers handle a backup running back.
