PASADENA, Calif. Conan O’Brien’s ratings are soaring as he nears a bitter exit from NBC’s “Tonight” show, his ridicule of his network executives apparently resonating in a country filled with the unemployed.
             His ratings Friday were 50 percent higher than they've been this season, and **he beat CBS' David Letterman**, according to a preliminary Nielsen Co. estimate based on large markets. yep. That’s cause Conan cut loose and really pulled out all the stops. He has nothing to lose now so he doesn’t need to be reserved or held back which I felt the Tonight Show was doing to him.

Well, nothing except for all the sketches that made him famous in the first place… NBC owns all that IP. That means no more masturbating bear, no more Triumph (well, maybe. I don’t know what Smigel has contract-wise), no more “Conando!”, no more S&M Lincoln, and you can forget about the year 2000.

Conan had better think of something quick…
