Is there an actual advantage to the forced stand? I don’t think it changes the combo benefit from that aspect as compared to s.MP. I guess on meaty or counter hit you can link s.LP? Is that the take away? If they keep holding crouch after recovery, are there transitional frames I can take advantage of? EX: I’m +2 on hit…if crouching takes 3 frames, do I have 5 frames of ensured “Standing”?
Forced stand on b.MK makes combos with forward V-Trigger cancels into nj.HP easier.
cr.Fierce, s.Strong doesn’t let Jab Sonic Boom combo due to pushback so you can’t do V-Trigger combos from that; however, if you do b+MK then the pushback is smaller letting Jab Sonic Boom combo for V-Trigger combos.
Oh I know that, as well you can land l.TA after b.MK. I’m just curious about the advantages of the forced stand property and if there was a specific set up to abuse this. It seems that if I tag a crouched person with b.MK and don’t commit to a combo, we only have +2 frames of of them not standing…which means they’ll be crouching again before my fastest high attack would even hit. They might’ve just done it for aesthetic reasons or as an easy fix to consistencies in combos with a standing hitbox and I’m over thinking it.
I can only guess it allows s.LP to link on cc and meaty…but not sure if I can get a full s.LPxxMP due to range. Then again it allows you to confirm into a cancel? (kills me I go on SRK when not near a PS4)
Does anyone else feel like Nash’s frame traps make you commit to trying to combo too much? It seems that he only has frame traps where the second normal has to either confirm into SS or SB and with how fast you have to confirm, you can’t wait to see if it connects or not. This isn’t a problem with SB, but if you want a SS you get punished. I’ve seen a lot of other characters have frame traps that have a third normal so you have a better idea if you are gonna connect or not before confirming into a special.
Also, what frame traps are people using to get some good throw shenanigans? I like using cr.MP to st.MP, but st.MP pushes back too much to get a quick throw after it if blocked. I’ve seen that back MK has less push back, but it’s much harder to confirm that into specials IMO.
I like to do cmk after a frame trap, this forces them to stay in place and later on you can dash throw or dash just outside throw range for a nice throw bait
thanks killey, good explanation
That’s kind of the thing with Nash. You don’t get really get good hit confirmable frame traps with him outside of committing to a Sonic Boom or Sonic Scythe and this is one of his balancing factors, imo. Considering the rest of his tools that are super strong as is, it wouldn’t be fair if he also has a strong frame trap game that let him confirm into damage.
A couple of frame traps I use are cr.Strong, b+Forward or cr.Jab, cr.Strong, s.Strong or cr.Strong/Fierce, s.Jab or cr.Fierce, s.Fierce xx Fierce Sonic Boom/Moonsault Slash. The cr.Fierce, s.Fierce xx Fierce Sonic Boom is actually 2 frame traps in one block string. In the corner, if you do s.Fierce xx Fierce Sonic Boom and they’re mashing on buttons they’ll get counter hit by the Fierce Sonic Boom and you can link cr.Jab xx Short/EX Sonic Scythe after.
The problem with Nash and other characters with slow walk speed is that the block strings that are frame traps won’t work anymore because there’s no need to push buttons or fear a throw in the string. This is where you have to get creative and work on your throw game and throw bait game to get them to start throw teching or pushing buttons again. Doing something like cr.Strong, s.Jab, dash throw can now turn into cr.Strong, s.Jab, slight step forward, s/cr.Strong. Also, don’t forget you can do throw baits after jump ins as well. For example, if you try to cross someone up with j.Forward and you put yourself closer to the corner then you can wait and do a back throw to put them into the corner. If you manage to recreate the situation during the match then instead of doing wait, back throw you can do wait, cr.Strong/Fierce/s.Fierce to catch the throw tech attempt or interrupt attempts.
not sure, if this is known or not
I did CA today ( it does go through fireballs on reaction right? )
the chun li player did her EX fireball and I did CA on reaction in time and got hit by one hit while the second hit of her fireballs kept moving on => CA didn’t connect
is this supposed to be this way?
No I just tested it. His critical art will go through on reaction to her ex kikoken
hm weird, my CA didn’t go through
I will check the replay again, in case its still saved on my profile
Anyone mapped out free throw set ups to mix into all these frame traps? Lot of my opponents simply hold block once they block the 1st hit, so I need to see what set ups I can do a throw that will beat a 3-4 frame move.
Anyone else have luck unlocking all of the colors? I’ve been trying daily but to no avail, I always get clipped around the high 30s for Hard Survival mode. Granted, we’ll probably just be able to purchase the colors we want once the shop opens later this month, but still, I’m tryna show this CPU who’s boss.

Been doing this string since a while vs 4-5k LP players
A few players did SRK vs this and it traded, vs some players who tend to do SRKs I stopped after the second EX SB for another CC
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hv0Ct2hTxt8
Also a friend of mine who plays a 5k PP Yun in USF4 did this string @1:59

I will hit the lab later again when I come home to figure out some stuff

if you luv to use rapid kick lk,mk TC on hit instead of lk,mk,cr.lp xx moon you can go for lk,mk,st.hp it will be a frame trape hit confirm for big damage if your opponent block you can do a other ex boom to make yourself safe and keep the pressure.
Saw this clip and it reminded me so much of SFV I thought I’d share it. Peep the Nash suplex @2:28 , the Stage backdrop, he even gets noodles on the guy lol.
