Seems like a neat setup to lock them down on wakeup and keep the pressure on. Not too different from a safe jump setup unless they can auto correct DP consistently. I highly doubt people who know what they’re doing will try to DP a potential cross up. The risk:reward ratio is too high if they can’t accurately predict you to be right in the air in front of them when the DP comes out.
It’s something to test out this weekend at the very least
You’re dead-on about the risk-reward, but like I mentioned earlier, your opponent can simply dash under the j.MK. They might also be able to hit Nash straight out of the air with a fast AA normal that hits straight above like Dhalsim’s st.LP. I’ll do more testing today.
I only tested quickrise (“Normal Recovery” in training mode settings) but I’ll test backroll today.
So after Wind Shear (st.MP xx st.LK xx st.HP) if you jump forward your attack will hit in the front. It’s fully punishable however. Tested this against Karin’s EX Ressenha. If your opponent does not quickrise (“No Recovery”) then you can get a free 5f safejump. After your whiffed jump in normal, simply do nj.HP.
Also, Eternal’s datamined Beta 4 changelog says that overhead target combo (cr.MP xx f.MP) was removed. Not true. It’s still here and it fully combos, just like it did during the last stress test.
Yo good shit, how did this fly under the radar for so long?!
I mean in Beta 2 (I think?) he could do HK Scythe > f+LK in the corner, and it would cause a similar reset, but they removed it. So they basically brought that shit back lol…
It kinda sucks as a reset tho IMO, since he recovers slowly from the Bullet Clear and the opponent air recovers super quick once you hit em. It’s good for added damage in the corner, feels risky as an attempted reset from what I tested tho. I tried to be clever and do this corner sequence and V-trigger cancel the V-Skill on hit to appear in the air behind them as they are air recovering, but my air attack kept whiffing and I kept getting pulled into matches so couldn’t lab enough.
Also I noted that they made the original V-trigger bnb possible again, I think in the previous beta cr.hp, b.mk would whiff but now it hits consistently.
I had the same idea. Which jump normal did you use?
I found a fake crossup setup with nj.MK, using V-Skill reset cancelled into forward V-Trigger. Looks like Nash is going to crossup but he actually hits and lands in front. Has to be blocked holding back. If your opponent holds forward, nj.MK crosses up but Nash still lands in front. Can’t be dashed out of or crouched but loses to reversal DP. Only tested it against Ryu.
I was using nj.HP at first and it kept whiffing, I think I got nj.Rh to hit tho, but I was testing it on Birdie so normal sized characters may have different results. I’ll try it out when I get home.
@Windalfr hence me saying ‘IMO’ lol. I’ll try it out in a match to see where it gets me
