Nash General Thread: Charlie (Nash) finally revealed!

Mainly for netcode and DLC delivery, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be looking into balance as there could be issues still now that people can play on a large scale with no time limits. It’s online only because they don’t want people offline in training mode, they want to ensure the netcode can be tested. Doesn’t mean balance goes out the window in terms of feedback.

Sorry, one thing to note in the video is that I mixed up the position he’s in after Back+V-Trigger and Down+V-Trigger. The notes in the video have the correct position.

First thing I’m gonna try and do is find a followup to EX Tragedy Assault. Seen it in a few vids around pre-E3 but couldn’t land it at all at the SFV event

Wish we had character forums. This is gonna be messy with everyone posting the same stuff. Nobody is gonna check every post in the thread.

Anyways, you can combo into and out of hp boom in the corner

Nash is a beast. But interesting that Capcom said he’s difficult to use in their Evo slides. I didn’t find him all that much more difficult than the rest of the cast.

About time someone used the optimized link (or at least the slightly more optimized one).

I got in briefly last night with random select Nash. I felt like they made a slight modification to him from the e3 build because the EX Tragedy Assault, D+V-Trigger, j.RH, EX Sonic Scythe combo did not work at all during e3 but it was super easy to do during the beta. It might have been due to monitor lag on the e3 builds, as I do recall Catalyst from eventhubs telling us that the monitor lag between the stage setups and the ones in Capcom’s VIP area were different.

Being able to combo into 2 EX Tragedy Assaults is pretty interesting but the health gain is pretty negligible and not worth 2 meters unless you really want to drain the opponents super meter. It looks like most people really like the Short~Forward, Jab~Strong combo but I think the cr.Fierce, b+Forward link is more important, imo. I really don’t like that target combo string unless I cross up the opponent up since the s.Strong has a tendency to whiff unless you’re point blank plus the damage scaling on that starter is high. I’m liking the cr.Short, cr.Jab, s.Jab xx Short/Forward Sonic Scythe for a quick confirm combo as it seems to hit more reliably at slightly outside of point blank range.

can you do anything off of EX Tragedy Assault in the corner without using V-Trigger? like a immediate neutral j.HK? or even just a H Sonic Scythe?

I was able to get in for a total of about an hour today and had a chance to spend some time in training mode before getting yanked into various ranked matches with cr. jab mashing opponents two continents away. I tried to find good links from Moonsault since speaking with Combofiend at Evo he told me it is a legit one frame link to connect the jab after the moonsault hit.

-Ex moonsault can be a great combo starter for stunned opponents in the corner. A combo I was trying to execute before I kept getting pulled was (opponent in corner) EX moon, jab>strong target combo EX scythe V-trigger j.RH Ex scythe again
-When applying pressure to maintain stun on the opponent, you can mix up jab>strong light moonsault to land in front (don’t try it against characters that have DPs lol) or jab>strong heavy moonsault to land behind them. You are out of the range of a throw and its close enough for you to throw out a bullet clear and catch any attempt at a punish. If its blocked, its safe so no harm no foul.

You guys are disgusting! Can’t wait til the 65-70% Bison combos start coming in!

All you need is fierce punch xx psycho ball xx super. Most brain dead and beefy damage you can get.

Nash though actually feels way better and easy to use than I originally thought he would be. Like I knew he has a weak/non-existent wake up game, but his normals and combos are no joke. Cammy is gonna have a hard time fucking with Charlie’s neutral jump roundhouse and forward fierce punch.

It doesn’t have the same 'this place shall become your grave" factor as any combo that ends with ex headstomp. But I’m happy that Psycho Blast is finding a home.

I had the chance to play 15 minutes with Nash, here is my result: ( I think the most of you know some of them, but still…)

  1. EX Moonsault Slash, cr.MP xx MP Sonic Boom, Down V-Trigger, j.HP, cr.HP, b-MK xx Sonic Scythe
  2. cr.HP, b-MK xx MP Sonic Boom xx Down V-Trigger, j.HP, cr.HP, b-MK xx LK Sonic Scythe xx CA
  3. In Corner: s.HP xx MP Sonic Boom, s.MP xx EX Sonic Scythe

But but how’s the game gonna survive without fadc! Nash has some sick looking combos.

Man thanks guys for the wealth of information found in this thread about my main dude Nash! Can anyone comment on the difficulty of the cr.HP, b-MK link? Is it about as easy as Target Combo 3 to Target Combo 4 or harder than that? Combo theory in my head would be something along the lines of

st.LK, st.MK, cr.HP, b-MK xx Forward Scythe

maybe if you can tag Target 3 and Target 4 on the front it could be flashy as hell xD also it seems like (in no surprise) that his V-Trigger cancels are key to getting good mid-screen damage but I cannot wait to see the corner applications of the trigger on opponents in the corner. Here’s hoping the beta is nice and lets me get some lab time/match experience.

Cr.hp to b.mk is fairly simple, i hit it on just about every person i played last night. Can get about a good 280-300+ damage when confirmed.

The juggle into super is really interesting, same with the counter hit combo at the end. I don’t really like how he’s trying to show oki setups by whiffing specials for timing because everyone can just quick rise after those knockdowns and it screws up the timing altogether.

You can use forward+lk to cross up downed opponents in the corner. You have to do it as they rise up (pun intended) other wise it doesnt work.
