NASA Verifies The "Impossible"

Just don’t send Matt Damon first

We’ll have to rescue him

Let business in space. Weyland-Yutani for a better future.

They’ll be the first to visit that “alien megastructure”.

So the spaceship is a giant rail gun that is shooting itself infinitly?

I would be really worried if there are aliens. For many reasons, they could just wipe us out and take our planet, or turn us into slaves, or have disease that kills humans when they come into contact. Or just use us for experiments.

Then again I hope there is a race of hot alien females.

Worst comes to worst they run into a alien plant life, like in creep show that turns everything else into a plant, even humans. Or run into a alien parasite, like the Blob that eats everything and keeps growing.

ofcourse all kinds of shit is actually possible, scientists say no because they’re consumed by their own views. in the future we may look at us now as a bunch of zombies

EDIT: Still waiting on full prosthetic cyborg bodies and brain cell phones that have a HUD in my robot eyes. One day.

The fact that there was any thrust at all is a miraculous by itself, I wouldn’t care how long it sustained itself. Screw the engines at this point, the hope for discovering an unheard of force is enough.

You might not get to use newly discovered information until you are old and decrepit. So what?

DNA was only discovered a little over 50 years ago, and we still don’t know enough about it. The people that were around then are probably dead now, but it doesn’t mean that the event wasn’t a keynote of human history.

How fast is that?

Be sure to wear your space suits to great reduce the chance of any Spacially Transmitted Diseases you or your partner may be carrying

(It shows how dead I am inside that I can’t even get excited about this despite how much I like astronomy. Whee.)

Of course, part of my nonexistent enthusiasm is worry about bad-case scenarios as per usual since as much as Kromo jokes about it, I have to wonder if this can be weaponized in some way and, if so, how easily given that’s unfortunately the way of all technology. Also, I’m still unsure as to how I feel and what I think ultimately about humanity potentially being able to pollute the stars in droves, especially given how much we’ve fucked up Earth and given how it would no doubt be another area where the absurdly wealthy had an advantage.

Thankfully, the speed involved here–if this true–seems far too fast for survivable manned flights, at least with current technologies. Granted, I’ll admit that I don’t know much about current inertial dampening technology, in part because I’ve just never looked.

Either way, if this happens to be true, then thanks for posting it @SoVi3t.

If we’re going by the ballpark, then that’s about 59,725 miles per hour or, for those of you who use metric, about 96,118 kilometers per hour.

At least, that’s what I’m getting from the average distance between Earth and the moon. That may actually be too slow because the same speed gives me about 97 days in getting to Mars at its average distance, which is almost a month over, to say nothing of how far off Pluto would probably be.

But, yeah, pretty damn fast, @“Rioting Soul”.

Look at the planet already, we’re already all enslaved. lol

Although hindu is the oldest “religion”, short of animalism, the summerian religious text that come after hindu tell the tale of gods from the sky who created the human species initially as a slave species. No shocker there considering our constant adoration for subjugation. Not sure what the hindus say about this in their text. I know there is a tale of a thousand years of slavery, but i dont know, im rusty on that shit these days.

It all depends on how you look at aliens, on how to perceive their threat. Hollywood and fiction in general paint a certain picture for us, but what if their idea of control is something similar to whats already in place now. Multiple alien species could use the planet or humans as needed, and go on about more important business right now, and even if you caught one walking up to someone, giving them a high five, and then disappearing, WE WOULDNT FUCKING BELIEVE IT. lol.

Its easiest to hide in plain sight once you have already manipulated someone enough that they will always second guess anything they see, hear, smell, touch, etc…

As an inferior species, we think what you do is go to a new land, and eliminate the native species. When for a much more older or superior species, why do that when you can manipulate things to your liking, as you see fit, and do what you need to do anyways. Earth is a pretty big fucking planet, even with its 6 billion residents. Lot of places to setup shop from the ocean, to antartica, to the middle of some huge forest or jungle somewhere, and we would never know, especially if youre a species in control of that planets politics too. Maybe the ideal for an alien species superior to us isnt to conquer, but to manipulate from behind the seasons.

Just sayin

Regardless of all the conspiracy theories on the topic, im sure there is an inevitability of an irate alien species finding our planet, and its sole purpose is to make it their own. We dont really think about it as humans on this planet, and our fascination of things beyond us is usually limited to religion for 90 percent of our species, but we’re a fucking tiny dot in a universe we dont understand even a tiny fraction of.

TV shows like to paint this picture like we know, but thats because a hour long episode of saying how much you dont know shit, isnt really entertaining. lol.

Still smells better than tournament players.

if photons can physically push objects, why not an electromagnetic waves. It’s all particles

Wut?

Like how jimmy1200 makes no sense in that post. And aliens turning humans into slaves and they have no choice what so ever, which means you wont be able to use the internet, wont be able to do anything but work and eat, and nothing else is a lot different then how humanity lives.

And if we do find a alien race, a alien parasite that would wipe out 95% of humans could be possible, or a alien with a unknown disease that kills humans also could happen.

There is no intelligent life near us, or at least not up to par with us. We would have seen them, or detected them SOMEHOW. So our best guess, is we’re pretty far off the beaten path, and light years away from other beings.

Considering the amount of energy required to get from all the way across the universe to us, what do we have to offer that other planets probably have in abundance, that would entice an alien civilization to wipe us out?

The only way we’d be wiped out, is if there is some alien force going planet to planet just killing because it’s fun. In which case, who the fuck cares, they have technology way beyond ours, it will likely be a fast merciful death we would never see coming.

More likely, any species coming to visit us would do so for scientific purposes. Study us, perhaps even meet with us.

I got my Jukebox loaded, I’m ready to go.

i also mentioned the other problems could be alien parasites, or aliens with diseases. Like a alien life form thats a plant, that turns everything living into a plant. Or something like the blob that just eats and doesnt know when to stop.
