Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 . The next greatest anime fighting game. Online!

For what it is, basically a flashy cash-in on the anime/manga show, it does its job well. Let’s not make it more than what it is people.

wow Rainbow, that sure is a bold attempt at speaking on literally everyone’s behalf. 0.0
So you don’t take it seriously because it doesn’t play and function like a Street Fighter clone?

Or make it sound less than what it is. :stuck_out_tongue: Look at Smash Bros. games, as simple as they may appear, there are fans of the fighting system before they are fans of the properties that take the game seriously enough and have risen the game to higher levels of competition outside the casual groups.
I remember the endless debates whether or not games like Smash Bros. or Tenkaichi are considered “fighting games”. It was ridiculous. The genre is flooded with SF clones and the crowds are brainwashed and led to believe if it doesn’t play like “this game” or include “that”, then it’s can’t be considered a deep enough fighting game, which is nonsense.

Anyways, here is some new

hey haters going to hate.

back on topic im buying this game, i already preordered it. best anime game and i played the demo over 200 times so im going to be playing this game for along time:smile::smile:

Well you lost me there, as I simply choose to stop reading.

Although to be fair you never had me and or anyone else to begin with.

oh yeah gaara

can you even teleport behind him i remember all of his attacks pretending to be projectiles and you teleport up and get hit again

@affinity Can you seriously tell me if anyone takes these games seriously link to an article or video showing competitive play and don’t give me that online crap* 90% of online players are mashers looking to up they’re gamerscore* I can guarantee you that the only people who will seriously play this game will be fans of the anime to the MAJORITY this game will be just another button masher cash inlike the DBZ games.Sorry if this offends some people.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo

What are the offensive and defensive supports under new features? Will they be supports that give you +damage/defense boosts?

Is there a forum that will have some halfway decent tech info on this game (was there one for the first game?)? SRK looks like it will be nothing but a bitchfest.

I’m guessing the offensive ones will be just the regular supports (eg: fireball attack, multiple melee attacks, rasengan etc) and the defensive ones wont do direct damage (eg: healing, setting up traps, Orochimaru’s large gate thing etc).
I dont think they explained it though.

yeah the suna shigure bits track wherever you go so even if you teleport you’ll get hitsunned enough for gaara to turnaround and continue the combo.

affinity, seriously stop wasting everyone’s time with your dumb babbling.
this game CANNOT be competitive for many reasons:

 1. all the combos/moves are done by simply mashing the O buttons with no timing, difficulty or any difference in the notations. Whats worse is that some character’s combos are un-escapable.
 2. the camera being behind one player simply gives that player too much of an advantage, the other player cant see their character AT ALL if the foreground player keeps hopping around(triple X the hold) coz of the Blur effect. Its simply stupid and not possible to be taken in a competitive manner.
 3. the chakra dash and chakra shuriken, they simply make the spacing/distance thing useless as they follow you anywhere. whats worse is that theyre universal.
 4. Teleporting out of combos costing almost nothing, it makes the combo>teleport out of it> combo cycle happen alot, sometimes till both are out of chakra then the real gameplay starts. its somewhat braindead as both players are mashing more of less, just different buttons.

and many other things…

UNS1 had some combos that involved combining strikes with jutsus, and even timing
combos using supports takes skill to catch opponents in more advanced combos.
Of course it isn’t the most technical combo system, but it’s deep enough to really discover and use different kinds of combos and setups.

Less difficulty for combos is a good thing because it broadens the competition and allows more players to be competitive than struggling with their controller.
**
(take chess for example, easy to control, yet still takes strategy to win. And UNS2 requires more skill than chess. But like chess, it’s more welcoming for more kinds of players to keep the competition hot.) **

There will definitely be more advanced combos people will discover that not everyone can do effectively during matches. We’ve only seen casuals play UNS2 so far, so you’ll be surprised at the higher level competition.

There’s enough room in the competition world for a fighting game that’s accessible
and deep enough to surprise you with every match against the better players.

lol since when are combos escapable in most fighting games’ combos/systems?

MvC2 has infinites but that’s still played and very competitive.

UNS2 will have some defenses to escape combos, especially with the Support system, it’s possible to free the leader from a combo (depends on the support and their mode, offense or defense, and the nature of their action.)

Plus the main form of escaping combos in UNS games is substitution/teleporting.
So really, it already has more than one defense to escape combos.

Players will adapt with the camera. And the action is so fast, people won’t lose track of their character if they know what they’re doing and keep moving effectively.

Positioning is one of the keys.

Also the camera fixes itself accordingly as they close the distance, and players can make use of the left and right sides of the screen, not just the background. There is full 360 degrees of positioning. In matches you see players are all over the place, not always stuck in the background (unless they want to).

There are pros and cons with those two things as well as counters for them.
Chakra dash is wide open to timed effective direct attacks, and the chakra shuriken can be seen a mile away, not to mention they sacrifice chakra and not the big damage dealers in your arsenal.

it’s a strategic element that could cost a player the fight if they chakra dash and chakra shuriken too often instead of saving the chakra for jutsus and ultimates as well.

High level players will learn the timing instead of mashing. Mashing improves chances for beginners, but that just randomizes and delays their success. They will run out of health before a high level player does.
Teleporting/substitution is good costing less chakra because the game would have problem escaping dangerous combos without it.

It helps prevent the matches from being one sided most of the time.

@Eternal Blaze- Good points, tho about #1…in a recent vid I saw Naruto do his O combo, but then cancel it with a big shuriken attack. Is this something that can be done in the 1-player story mode you think? Like changing what you do when you rapidly press the O button?

So affinity, got any videos of high-level UNS 1 gameplay?

Dude, you don’t know shit about MvC2 so please just shut up. I’m willing to wager you barely know the basics of fighting games.

Are you so blind and ignorant that you seriously don’t see what you just said here? Think about it for a second. Seriously…just think about it.

Well, from our NY Naruto scene, the 2nd and last tournament that we played
- GF Tenten vs 3rd Hokage
LF (Shorter Vid) Ino vs Gai

You don’t have to watch more to understand how the game works. Normal attack strings have far too much recovery due (due to complex animations I guess), and because assists can be used in hit and block stun, compounded with the fact that you can teleport out of block & hit stun, using your normal attacks are way too unsafe. On top of that, the damage ratio between attack strings & special moves is not balanced in any kind of way. Why try and land an unsafe, 15 hit string (all of which can be teleported) for 12% life, when you can hit a 1 hit jutsu for 15% or a super for 30%?

So the game boils down to range games, and since you can’t block while sidestepping it’s actually a legit way to score damage. Characters with strong projectiles pretty much run the game, Ino for example can win without throwing a punch, just relying on strong assists, and her flower jutsu launching into super on hit. There are a lot of other mechanics involved as well that make the not absolute garbage, like being able to tech trap, and cancel attack strings directly into grab, but at the end of the day the game is bad. Just looking back at that tournament, the grand finals took over 30 minutes, because the game goes to time so often.

So ultimately the NY scene took back to playing the since they’re actually you know, decent.

But again, I’m pretty sure everyone in this thread is speaking out of ignorance when it comes to this game. I really don’t expect it to be any good either, but most of you don’t even understand how it plays.

PS: Gaara sucks in storm the hell are you guys talking about. Chakra dash is super punishable, as in fucking SUPER when you block.

Already got mine pre-ordered. Can’t wait to wreck house with pain

I’m pretty sure thats one of Naruto’s specials, he has the rasengan and that. there’s 4 variations of the O combos as far as i know, its the same combo usually, just a different ender.
OOOOOOOO upOO, launcher, can be followed up by the roll dash (triple X)
OOOOOOOO downOO hard knockdown, usually right in front of you.
OOOOOOO left or rightOOO depends on the character.
OOOOOOOOOOO… usually knocks you away to a far distance.

@affinity:
… seriously, this calm trolling you do isnt worth replying to. I’ll only reply to this part coz you’re trying to sound like a smartass:

we’re not talking about other fighting games, this is a game where combos ARE escapable, you have teleports and supports yet some combos will get you even if you try those and those are the ones i’m talking about.
seriously just stay in the AH3 threads instead of coming here and adding nothing but false info and stupid posts while acting like this game’s online will be the best thing since sliced bread. Its most probably gonna be a mediocre netcode at best as they never talked about that mode AT ALL. I’m almost willing to bet it’ll be KoFXII’s competitor for the worst netcode ever award.
as for the MvC2 part, Tech Romancer took care of that pretty well. Plus, who the fuck mentioned infinites?your trolling attempts are seriously weak and need some major upgrades.

@Forte: I’ve played the game for a good amount of time, there arent any tourneys here but we got into the game as much as possible, its engine is simply isnt polished enough or have the depth to be taken in a competitive or a serious way.
it’ll be fun though.

@Eternal Blaze- Oh OK, thanks for that, but the directions you mentioned are done via the Analog stick right?

yep, D-pad is for items like health, exploding tags, poison etc. so you cant use that.

Truth.

lol UNS Itachi.

I don’t understand what the big deal is with the camera system. I’ve played hundreds of matches and I’ve never once complained about the camera system or even heard a complaint about the camera system till I checked here. The engine itself isn’t all that bad, I actually like the simplicity. I always believed that when playing any game that you ARE the character that you control. It never really sits well with me that if I’m the character that I don’t have full control over his abilities. Its a suspension of reality in sorts that execution on the players front is what keeps the supposed superior character from using their abilities. And NOOOO I’m not a noob or anything like that, but the idea of one frame links, supertough execution just to get simple things done is annoying. I actually had very little quarles with UNS1. It was fun, I just wish I had more people to play… online will keep things interesting. Its literally one of the few games that you can watch a match and think, thats looks awesome and fun. Why is that a bad thing?

I don’t think the game should have “1 frame links and supertough execution” but mashing circle all day long gets old really fast. A slight change to the physical aspect of the game would be nice… otherwise I’m just going to pick Sakura and put booby traps everywhere.

I think the game would be really fun if it was just a 1P story mode kind of thing. I’m not gonna lie I enjoyed the demo but the fact that it’s a fighting game makes me want to get a lot more of it that just isn’t there.
