The original OP has been updated for Storm 4’s release next Tuesday, make sure to check out the new info that was added/revised.
I also already made a lot of changes to the beginner’s guide, for anyone who’s looking to make Storm 4 their first UNS game or people who just wanna see some of the more specific changes to the mechanics.
If there’s anything you guys think I might have missed, let me know.
Excluding smaller games under 5 Gigabytes or so, that two minute install time you’re referring to is just the PS4 installing the base content needed to start the game. Just because it lets you start up the game doesn’t mean all of it is finished installing.
A lot of these bigger PS4 games average to be around 50 or even 60 gigabytes sometimes. If you compare that to the size of your average PS3 game, one PS4 game can add up to about the same size as six or seven PS3 games. That’s a lot of shit it needs to install, it’s not that weird for it to be around an hour long. Halo 5 is almost 60 gigs and took about 3 hours to install on my One. Batman Arkham Knight is over 50 gigs and can take anywhere between a half hour to an hour to fully install. Especially if you already have another game running. It has nothing to do with having a “faulty system”, this is just a matter of fact. It is physically impossible for these consoles to install a full 50 gigabyte game in a little over 100 seconds.
If you don’t believe me, ask Google what the average time it takes to install a full-sized retail game and you’ll come up on a ton of threads asking “Why does it take so long to install PS4/Xbone games to my system”?
Not saying it doesn’t suck, but that’s just how it is. Even when you pop in Storm 3/Revolution for the first time it makes you sit there for a good 10 or 15 minutes as it installs the content it needs to. PS4 definitely installs faster than Xbone though.
Still standing by my word. Either that site is full of it, or the console is faulty
The Witcher 3 is perhaps one of the bigger games on both consoles at the moment, coming in around 49.5 gb. And that took me a measly minute to install. Naruto is a gorgeous game, but there’s no way it’s over 40 gigs and takes an hour to install on the PS4.
We had a tourney for it today, dunno if any characters were unlocked already but there was pretty much everyone from Revolution and a few extras with a whole page worth of characters locked.
I’ll DL it on Steam sometime in the next few days…
all the roster from revolution is unlocked from the start, you have to clear the story mode for all the remaining characters like Kaguya, Eight Gates Gai, Rikudou Obito, Madara and Naruto etc …
Good work on the thread, The Martian and everyone else who contributed. Getting this when it drops Tuesday, pretty excited. Haven’t played a Ninja Storm game in a long time. Can’t wait!
