If I remember correctly, it’s because only truely skilled users can master two elements. And then mixing the two elements perfectly to form the third is what’s considered a blood line limit, which one is only born with. This doesn’t pertain to all blood line limits (like the eye pew pews), but most of them.
There has to be more too the Bloodline Expansion than mixing 3 elements, or they’re forgetting the other female Kage who mastered 3 elements as well.
I find it funny that though Madaara is supposedly the final bad guy, the manga is currently being propped by Kabuto’s zombie jutsus…
I actually think its ingenious…its like he solved the “How can we show how strong folks are now” and the “Ooh I bet such n such could beat such n such” in a single arc. I would lulz real hard though if the final attack was an army of uchihas…
This manga loves the shit out of some eye jutsu spam, so it seems pretty likely. Madara had Itachi kill the entire Uchiha village for a reason back then, I guess. Dude planning like Aizen.

my guess is mixing two traditional chakara elements to form a new chakra element type is a blood line limit… the female kage has two of these new types. think of them as squaring ones chakra.
now this blood line expansion is the step beyond that… mixing two new element types or the mixing of three traditional chakara elements into a new chakara expansion type. think of this as cubing ones chakra.

I think a bloodline limit is the combination of two elements, hence Yamato combining water and earth to make wood. Maybe a bloodline expansion is the ability to combine any element, including dark and light, into any jutsus they please.

The body probably didn’t survive under the water. Do you know how much pressure is at the bottom of any ocean? Think of this this way: try going into a pool and test the water from the shallow end and then from the deep end. Doesn’t it feel heavier in the deep end? His body could’ve been crushed.
