Itachi could effortlessly beat the Pain bodies. Tsukiyomi would catch EVERYONE, but he would never find Nagato. It would be an endless battle of attrition. Itachi’s health versus the body of every ninja that hasn’t completely decomposed yet.
Manga establishes key events, some ignore the anime while others allow it to expand on the manga as long as non-contradictory data is added.
Also, Zabuza was one of the best ragequits. Kisame’s wasn’t as good but it was still great to see. The dude straight up said fuck you catching me and fuck your friend jutsu. The only down side is how that shark escaped, he could have had himself be a water clone and the shark be himself using a transformation technique and escaped. Also lol at getting caught by the scroll, something little kids learn in the academy and something that genin are required to know when attempting the chunin exam.

no tsukiyomi would not work. It’s done one at a time, can’t just use it on all six at once. And as granny said the way to fight a sharingan user is to have more than one person attack them. Pein is six people… In the time Itachi catches one person, the other’s would have been done there shit. amatarasu get’s absorbed. One could debate sassanoo being absorbed also.
Seriously not sure how anyone would think Itachi could beat pein. Unless he has a global genjutsu that could catch all six of them at once, then it’s lights out. And even then, it can’t come from his eyes, cuz they don’t have to look @ his eyes at all. Six different view points means Pein can see everything going on w/o making direct eye contact.

J-Man’s genjutsu worked didn’t it? Why wouldn’t Itachi’s? It’s not like all 6 bodies are independent of one another and self sufficient. They’re all ultimately linked to one person, and if the J-man’s genjutsu made it all the way to the real body, why wouldn’t Itachi’s?
it’s never been said that tsukiyomi can only be done on one person…but even if it could be, pain is still one person and just like he got caught in that frog song genjutsu he could get caught in itachi’s. if anything it’d be easier to catch him considering his major advantage is multiple fields of vision and itachi’s already been shown to be able to catch people without them looking at his eyes.
as an aside, i’m kinda saddened/surprised kishi hasn’t written included the stereotypical blind ninja that “sees” only chakra or some nonsense.
The original source is almost always the canon unless the creator of the series says otherwise. Naruto’s original source is the manga, thus it is the canon.
The only thing with Naruto is that, their filler episodes are usually well placed. They’re actually put in places where time elapses in the manga, so they aren’t out of place, so it doesn’t seem like the anime is “wrong”. Best example of wrong anime is Bleach. Their filler arcs are out of left field.
I don’t want to be in this dumb debate but niggas are completely selling itachi short. Tsukyomi happens in a fraction of a second. Even if he can’t hit them all simultaneously he can hit them un rapid succession so fast it would seem simultaneous. Also unlike j man itachi geniuses put him directly in the mind of the victim. There’s a good chance that if one body gets hit pein is ggpo’d. Pein has six bodies. Itachi will pop clones and play a similar game. Quit trying to undo everything the manganese made him. He’s one of the few actual ninja. The fight isn’t free for anyone.
jman’s is an aoe. Actually a really really good genjutsu. I personally think had he had all 7 able to hear that song, Jman wins. But Itachi’s isn’t an aoe.
jesus : you’re wrong. he can’t do 6 tsukyomi’s at all. he can barely do 2 and an ama before being wiped out. It’s like your just a complete itachi fanboy or something that can’t think logically when it comes to him in battles. And as far as one hitting a body and it going to pein’s mind, that makes no sense either. That’s like saying shooting someone you’re in radio contact with will somehow affect HQ. And there is precedence of genjutsu not being able to hit all bodies if done on one due to jman’s failing.
also you guys are completely negating the fact that you have to look him in his eyes to be hit by tsuki. Otherwise Asuma and Kurenai woulda been ggpo’d along with kakashi. (even though they had there eyes completely closed, gai came in and basicly let us know you can have your eyes open, just don’t look them in there eyes).

rinnegan, sharingan, byakugan. I know it comes down to the user who can win , but still, those pein’s shit is pretty ggpo compared to sharingan in a 1v1 .
I’d still prefer to have itachi on the squad, just cuz his is so subtle and just rape. If you have no idea about it, he will take you out before u can put your hands together to form a seal.
My dream squad would be Itachi, Pein, the fifth, with the 3rd hokage as the captain.

I have always thought that the greatest strength and the greatest weakness of the 6 pains are their eyes. Sharigan only needs to hit one eye and all pain, plus nagato, are done.
J’s genjutsu is flawed in that he had to get all of them in position to hear the jutsu.
Still pissed at kishi for his continuos snubbing of his telling that, sharigan is a bootleg byakugan.
Oh and Konan could just make a paper-dick to survive the kishi-discrimination…

It’s a toss-up. Tsukiyomi vs. Chibaku Tensei, Shinra Tensei and Bansho Tenin, IMO. But it’s all theory fighter, so whatever. Either way, I bet that Pein would have a fuckton more intel on Itachi than the other way around, since he was the leader of Akatsuki and all. Intel wins fights.
