I’ve never played any of the other games so you are going to have to school me on it every now and then. What is KnJing? How does one turtle in this game? Judging by the videos that I’ve seen, it doesn’t seem possible. Are people just blocking and countering with assist when you try to attack? Is there some type of tag battle system or you just use your one character with selected assist?
Feels so good to get a perfect in this game just by using Itachi’s super explosive jutsu in a tight corner. I mind fucked a lot of beginners, definitely had my fun doing that yesterday even though I still suck at this game. I feel like the sub meter should only allow 3 bars and not 4.
KnJ is the substitute/log jutsu you can use to escape from a combo. In the previous game you could just mash the button for it to escape everything (making the game stale as fuck). KnJ into grab was like the best way to deal damage. In this new game there is a KnJ meter where you can only do so many substitutions in a row.
Gameplay is your point character + two assists, its not a tag battle system. One thing that made the game so defensive was being able to call out your assists while you are blocking. I didn’t play the game too much so hopefully someone with more experience can go more in-depth.
you can call assists anytime, even mid blockstun AND hitstun. Its pretty stupid and really pisses me off honestly, but the game is still pretty damn fun I’ll admit lol.
it sucks even more coz the assists dont die and you can keep calling them all day even if you happen to hit them.
the KnJ meter is an awesome idea, and the dash cancelling is pretty lulzy, its like an almost no cost “GET OVER HERE” to catch them again if they KnJ.
So can you only cancel to chakra dashes or how does this work exactly?
Every time I chakra dash after somebody who KnJ’s I get hit in the face with a Rasengan. o_O
then block the rasengan and combo them, it adds an extra layer of depth to the mixup, now you get the option to punish KnJs (sorta) or bait something after they KnJ, whats better is that you dont need to waste a KnJ bar you’re only using a bit of chakra.
so im guessin the real madara isnt in this game. im sad
I’m honestly not a big fan of wasting my Chakra to cancel my combos. There’s also Jump Cancelling and Ninja Move Cancelling, great meterless, yet albeit riskier alternatives IMO.
And enjoy.

Against “Giant Awakenings” like Susanoo -> Rush it down, unlike NUNS2 Susano’o flinches when attacked.
For any form where they transform in some significant way, you can usually keep them off-balanced almost constantly. Don’t wait to counter or dodge, try to attack constantly and use your assists to attack anytime you aren’t able to. If you fight any novice to intermediate player, playing as if you’re ignoring the fact they’ve powered up will probably throw them off. Most likely, they’ve only gone into awakening to try to force the match into their favor - they’re desperate and already against a wall.
A vet probably knows how to use his awakening to exploit how the game is normally played and only went into the mode to destroy you…so they’re now a super powered normal character that will use all the normal mechanics on top of the new options they have - run and shuriken. Use shurikens to set up landing attacks with your assists and save your subs as much as possible
Also air guard is much weaker than ground guard, abuse chakra air dash and your own supports.

LOL @ CC2 deciding to make Super Armor Pills. The moment I see my opponent use that shit, I say “Fuck that I’m outta here” and try to turtle the hell out of them until the effect runs out, and I repeat the same strategy when they use their last pill.
lol this game…
Sasori and Deidara are still derpy so I’m happy, Mei isnt as fun as I was hoping though =/
How do you do these? Details on the net seems sketchy.
Jump Cancelling out a combo is a easy as pressing the X button during a combo, go pick TS Sakura, press O two times and then press/hold X. As for Ninja Move Cancelling you push the left stick in any direction and you press X during a combo, you can try it out by picking Raikage, press O five times and push the left stick in any directions and press X.
Ah, thx. I dont have the game yet. Is it possible to pre-load chakra before these cancels, or will you end up with chakra dash if you do that?
Depends on what you’re going for, obviously you can Chakra Dash Cancel, and Jutsu Cancel on the fly during a combo animation, but whether or not the actual Jutsu will connect depends on two things, how fast your jutsu is and what type of “hitstun” did the last attack before cancelling into a Jutsu left your opponent in? (Check the GFAQs thread I posted above).
If you’re talking about cancelling into an ougi, for the most party you need to utilize Ninja Move Cancel during a certain point of a combo and buffer immediately into the ougi, of course this depends on how fast the ougi animation is in the first place.
That link Ichipoo posted explains a lot of that in nice detail. I learned a few things at least, good read. Thanks Ichi
finally did an ougi cancel in a real match online
got hatemail for it, too
You DO NOT need to sub EVERY hit from a Hidan support. GUARD it, and EAT the grab! Grabs DO NOT do as much damage as a cancel filled COMBO when you waste your subs on him!
DO NOT complain when I grab you because you spammed your subs either! If you’re guarding, and out of subs, I WILL grab spam you!
Also, if Loco Sasuke Amaterasu’s you, and you didn’t guard it, sub, THEN GUARD! Don’t just get hit again!
DO NOT SUB KUNAI! AT ALL! (Unless Vs Rangers/ Gonna die)
If you get caught in a multiple hitting justu(Hinata, Bee, Hidan, etc) Wait till the FINAL hit to sub, as you will not fall back into the justu this way.
Also, don’t sub the first chance you get while being comboed. Wait for your enemy to do a cancel (They will), and sub Immediately after. They can’t react, nor predict it. Also, if your sub bar is in the “charging state”, snd you’re being comboed, tank the hits until your bar is full, and then sub. Subbing as soon as a bar fills halts the charging, putting you back to square one.
PLAY SMART!
That is all…
