The unlocking process is apparently just as tedious as the last few installments, but different. Instead of earning money, you unlock everything by completeing missions; apparently there is about 360 of them. They rank from C,B,A, and S rank in difficulty.
Gasaraki, you’re right; Jirou is nice as hell. I tried him out against a friend and I see lots of possibility.
Anyone fucking around with the ultimate cancels? I tried out some stuff with Jirou’s chains and I came up with d+bbby bbbyxN (not sure how many reps you can viably throw in before kawarimi danger sets in, but if your bar is maxed when doing this, each 3 hits should return the meter used for the cancel, and I think there’s a 4 rep maximum before enemy lands, unless my timing just sucks), bbbaa, wake up super (or just bbx for guaranteed damage). Any tips?
Also, I noticed Jiroubou’s teleport is much like Itachi’s (can hold it), but does he have the option to appear on the same side? I couldn’t remember how to do it.
Finally, a friend wanted me to ask about how Ukon/Sakon blocks supers, so whats the deal with that?
the cancels are nice but i havent gone into depth on any…too busy doing these whack ass missions…whats the best way to earn points?? i’m having trouble meeting my requirements for some of the characters…
for Jirou’s bnb, just use BBBY u+BBxn until rightbefore they can KnJ then end it with u+A so that you get a full combo that leaves you safe from retaliation and if you want, a wakeup super.

Ukon mode (pressing b+A once) blocks supers automatically so long as it isn’t comboed in somehow.
I don’t know about anyone else but I didn’t mind the money system from GNT3, at least it was more straight-forward (you earn XXXX amount of money for XXXX). Anyways, if you get a good rhythm going you can unlock about 5 or 6 characters a day in GNT4. It was slow for me until I read about a good method from one the GNT4 boards at gamefaqs.
Before you begin you may want to spam B > Start a few times at the menu screen to earn a good amount of missions. It’s all about the settings from then on.
For Time Attack Missions, set damage to high (1?) and time to 30 if you feel like it. Round count settings are always 2 here (set it to 1 anyways). Use only realtime supers if you need to use super moves, the other type of supers should be used on CS2 Sasuke only and if you’re sure it will kill him.
Use those same settings for Survival Mode and “Get 5 KOs” type missions. Realtime supers count. For 3v3 IIRC the KO doesn’t count unless you kill the final teammate with a team super.
For S Rank Time Attack, use Zabuza. Even though Rock Lee or Gai may be just as good, Zabuza’s d+X, basic strings into swords, and f+A on wake-up is brutal vs. the CPU.
For Score Attack, you can get away with using the same settings but you may want to set the Damage to low (3) and increase the rounds by some. For Temari mission, you can keep the previous settings and just spam her f+BAAA, d+AAA, and random j.X for major points. For B/A/S rank Score Missions, use her to easily pass them. Just increase the rounds by a few if the score requirement is high (i.e. S rank’s 600000 one).
Everytime you beat one mission, spam B > start a few times until you earn another mission. This way when you beat one mission you’ll be adding more missions to your collection. Sometimes you may even get two.

For all those people waiting for their game to come, be prepared for hours of boring ass mission play just unlocking everything. The only missions that I actually enjoyed any were the S ranks, because some were pretty challenging…I’ve got everyone but Kyuubi Naruto now…
Also, when you guys do the missions that require you to do 5 special ko’s, you can exit out before you play all ten matches and they still give u credit for the mission. That saved me a good bit of time when I figured that out…
Now that I don’t have to worry about earning anything, I got try out some Combos!!! The tag mode makes up for the fact that half the characters on the game are pretty much unchanged…Because you can keep switching out while doing combos making for some interesting setups and just a little bit more depth to the game…All they’d have to do is get rid of wake up supers and I’d recommend this game to anyone…good stuff…
I found a tag combo that kills naruto on the dmg set to 2…I think that’s default, that’s what I plan to play on for now…this uses my team of Neji, Kisame, and Zabuza…Neji and Kisame’s combined chakra drained attacks make these combos unescapable…u gotta be brushing against a wall or have your opponent against the wall though, or zabuza’s tag wont combo…not usually a problem unless u’re long ways on the bridge stage…

edit-oh ya…somethings been bothering me…the old desperation supers for characters that had em in part 3 can now do em’ at any time with a full bar…9/10 they do better dmg and have better startup than normal supers…wtf is the point of doing X when I can do d+X instead…thats kinda stuuuupid
Um, BETTER startup? That’s wrong for everyone except Chouji, all the startup on the old desparation supers is now much longer, or hits in a weird way.
As for team stuff, I completed a combo vid for it last night, WiLL shuold be done editting it when he has time tomorrow or sunday. Keep checking WiLLvolution for it.
Um, whatever…I know they ALL still work after BB except for maybe Sakura’s…Kiba’s has much better range and does more dmg…Anko’s has better startup IMO…and lets not forget Ino…her X and d+X are practically the same…except d+X does much more dmg…and we don’t have to say anything about chouji…If you could only do their d+X once a match I could sleep better at night…Just seems like this aspect was kinda tacked on…buts its no problem, just kinda bothered me…and Um, I don’t know why you had to make me out to be wrongbut thats my fault…sakura’s and naruto’s d+X are slower coming out…so you are right on that one…I’m sure that’s what u wanna hear
You’re missing the point.
You’re saying pretty much all of them have really good startup time, whereas that isn’t the case.
Sure, you can combo them from BB all day while they’re grounded, but in juggles they’re pretty hard or impossible to combo now. So you’ll have to choose your supers in your combos. And their damage has been adjusted so that they won’t be nearly as damaging as when they were desperation supers.

Ino’s and Kiba’s d+X supers are slow start-up too.

I didn’t mean offense, I was pointing something out. Then in an entirely separate statement I was saying I made a vid of some tag combo stuff and that you shuold check it out considering you’ve already made some combos n stuff.
As for d+X for Ino and Kiba, why wouldn’t they want to use them? They do more damage even if you can’t combo to em as easily, you can still use them as wakeup. Then if you absolutely have to combo it in, you can just use normal X right?
For many characters such as Naruto, Iruka, Mizuki, and at times Anko, the d+X super, though more damaging, does not combo due to the slower animation. A good change in my opinion as it promotes using weaker supers outside of ground combos, which tend to be shorter and less damaging.
Cancels are VERY one-sided. Shino pretty much got shafted in the cancels department, although his A is faster and d+X may be just a tad faster. Tayuya gets my vote for broke. Sakon/Ukon’s d+X has A LOT of special properties. For one, they crouch during the super, allowing them to dodge some high attacks, INCLUDING projectiles. I had him duck under Kisame’s d+X. The super auto tracks based on your previous position, similar to Naruto’s d+A. Although both Ino’s supers take 100% chakara, the incentive to use the weaker version is the hidden/glitchy range. Her X super actually hits BEYOND the blue ray. This means that you can pull some serious wake-up from very far distances.
Do I sense ban on K. Naruto and CS2 Sasuke? Sasuke’s running B is just plain stupid. Naruto’s jumping A scares the life out of me.

no, OTKN and CS2 aren’t that great, not bannable anyway. CS2 running B is too easy to see because of the sound and lightning and at worse you could just take the hit. Because his b+B is his teleport kick, he loses escapes he used to have as well as not haveing a sharingan mode for the SCancels so meh.
OTKN Has great damage and really quick guard break ability but he’s not overly safe excluding BBA which is like Ino’s BBBA. You just need to learn how to fight him properly. I will say he’s still really good though, he’s definitely difficult to fight and you need to find ways around his stuff really quick.
As for cancels, they’re only for increasing damage a bit and Anti KnJ. In Shino’s case since his game revolves around bugs, he doesn’t really need cancels anyway except again for KnJ saftey. besides if you’re throwing alot like you should with him cancels for damage wont’ really be a problem will they?
