no pre reg list… brakets will have to be done on the spot… if it’s any help we’re currently looking at about 50+ players
looks like we’re gonna have 2-3 superguns in the house… what is the opinion of the ST heads if we were to switch the HDR main event into a ST event now that we have the resources?.. i for one prefer ST to HDR but it’d be kinda grimy to switch it out so late
if anyone has any MMs int he works lemme know either here or the day of and i’ll get it scheduled ont he MM station… man i’m just now kinda relizing that that was a really good idea
oh and Guilty Gear is about to be added to the official lineup, it’ll be ran by Effenhoog

Silver - yeah that was actually my thinking. of course i also prefer ST anyway but originally the plan was to play some form of ST and then when it seemed the options were breaking down you stepped up and volunteered to run HDR (and as a SF2 player i was thankful for that even though it was HDR). but now that ST seems to be a real possibility i can’t see why we wouldn’t switch back. obviously adding ST while keeping HDR singles would please everyone but that would give us about 10 SF2 events here and it seems like it’s kind of overkill even for folks like us. you know what i mean?
Barzaad - my opinion is to make sure there is ST singles. that was the original plan, remember? you wrote around to a few people (or at least me) asking for options and opinions on this maybe 2 months ago. ST started to look less realistic so Silver took the lead and thus the HDR singles tourney was formed. however now that ST seems concrete i can’t see us just overlooking it. it needs to be played IMO.
HDR is deader than a doornail – make it ST 
Outside of Silver Rain I don’t know anyone in the midwest besides maybe MadKing who prefers HDR over ST

If anyone is bringing equipment for the tournament, if you park in the Moon Garage it has extremely convenient elevator access right up to the venue from the garage.
I don’t know what street it’s on or anything since I only managed to park there once, but it made hauling equipment much easier.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention it, but as usual, I’ll take on any challengers for HDR money matches, up to 100$. Do you have what it takes?

If people really want to play ST and there are superguns, that’s fine. I bow to the overwhelming court of public opinion, I just don’t want for people to make promises than not follow through. I went though alot of trouble to get people really committed to bringing 360s / TVs / Sticks for HDR and I don’t want to tell these people never mind and then not have people show with their superguns…
Do you just enjoy reveling in my pain? LOL. True story, I can’t play ST for crap, I can’t play Cammy at all, and everything else is so basic, I get destroyed. I put all my effort into R. Cammy and going forward, I have no clue what I’m going to do.
To be honest, I’d love to see as many SF2 events as possible (ST ALONG with HDR teams? Maybe?); I’ll enter HF too if it’s offered (no sarcasm there).
Speaking of which, could I possibly crash on someone’s floor for the night? My plan was to Megabus it over since the dropoff point is near the venue (and I didn’t want to drive since I did for Columbus Bar battles), but the latest Megabus is at 9pm, which is most likely too early for a fighting game tourney…
Have you tried Greyhound already? Not as cheap but scarier and has more availability.

The 3S player entering ST and HDR? This stuff has officially just jumped hype 
Trust me man you need to jump on ST The way Cammy plays in HDR is wack because it teaches players that braindead cannon drill spam is a valid tactic. Even in HDR that only works against crappy players anyway but it’s easy to over-rely on just that + random hooligans, which really isn’t teaching Cammy players fundamentals of the game. ST drills teach you spacing and zoning, and her better recovery on her dragon punch is much more useful at high level than trying to endlessly cannon drill from across the screen
Plus HDR is a dead game 
You will learn a lot more playing ST. Cammy sucks in both games, you just have to know the game better to play her in ST, much like playing Gief in HDR vs. ST. She looks better in HDR but at high level she isn’t at all.
Also – there’s no possibility of beer matches, huh
well how bout this… we’ll do ST and HDR singles, the theme is sposta be newschool vs. oldschool anyway… how’s that sound … we might still get a sort of split in numbers like that… hm… what about a big boy charge that gets you into ST and HDR…? does that work… both events get all the competitors… split of the money… and we get to see how the result differ… either way im sure running both wont be too much trouble

i’m getting my ducks lined up, and we’ve been having a string of events this weekend (IVGDA and a brawl tourney) got a few updates im about to add to the OP: pizza vendor at the venue, IVGDA representation that day, and a spectacle tournament
we had a retro game night on saturday where the IVGDA setup a whole buncha oldskool games and let everyone play them all day long, I beat the entire game of super mario world and found out what Quiz and Dragons was… we had a SSBB tournament tonight, of course we had a lineup of kids and i didn’t compete, but i ran the brackets and everything in between and i gotta say it was fun… my sorta-kinda-bi-monthly Naptown tourney is next saturday… and then we’re off
we’ll be completely ready once this ST/HDR is sewed up… I’ll have the finalized schedule and list of events … i feel like a bit of a pimp right now… is that why we run tournaments?
i’ve never done one for anything close to that amount, but i might take you up on this one. i’ll think about it.
I’m not saying DON’T run HDR or anything, just giving thoughts on where the SF2 scene is. They’re both fast games to get through. Just saying ST is a game that the game that way people are excited about and will travel for in our half of the country, and it’s my advice to make promote ST your main SF2 event going forward.
As Brent mentioned, it was always meant to be ST originally as the main game, due to limitations we had to go with Classic Mode in HDr. If we actually have the means for ST on superguns let’s promote it as such, with HDR as a side game.
I will be playing in both and any subsequent team tournies.
We don’t have to make it 100$, just choose an amount you’re comfortable with. 100 is just the upper limit. :wgrin:
