Broad Ripple is the fuckin shit, also they used to have like 2 clubs across from the venue inside the mall but it looks like they got rid of them awhile ago.
Yea, the ones in the mall were pretty dead when i had went there last.
Cool I’ll come through looking, smelling, feeling mad suave.
first to 5 for 20.
anyone else
any interest in hd video recording?? Im getting a sony sr12 hd camcorder. i plan on recording as much as i can in standard def, only certain matches ill do in hd and have them available for those who would want them. otherwise standard def compressed to youtube
3s mm anyone else??
Sounds good.
Also, I think the recording idea will be a plus. I’m going to try and record some finals but I doubt I’ll have time if I am running brackets. If you could record some that would be appreciated.
To be honest the only games that should be recorded in HD are HDR and SFIV the rest aren’t even made in HD so why bother.
will do some recording for ya:wgrin:
3s mm open to all.
This is all I needed to see to decide not to go to this. The mindset or attitude leading to these types of decisions is so regressive for the community that it blows my mind.
Either way, have fun guys.
lol why is seth banned, no one has even played him yet
Just saw this thread, I can’t wait! This will be so fun.
You can pre-reg me for at least 3s and SF4.
I’ve NEVER been to a tournament before and I’m really looking forward to it. Probably a dumb question but it’s ok to bring and use my own stick right?
edit: I just saw that PS3 will be used for SF4, I only have a dual PCB HRAP (PS2 and 360) I don’t suppose anyone will have a Pelican or an inPin adapter I could use?
You can use mine and yes it is a bring your own controller event.
Keits- I wouldn’t blow it out of proportion. We’re trying to handle it on the safe side. Maybe Seth sucks. Who knows for sure? If we hear that enough people feel that he should be playable a week or two before the tourney then we will unban him. Odds are that if we do allow him and he is broken (not uncommon for a boss character) then people would complain that we didn’t assume the obvious.
What is more regressive for the community is to not support the scene, events, gatherings because of a boss character of all characters in one game out of all the games being played is not being allowed.
So anyone planning to attend feel that Seth should be playable, then post up.
im down for any mm in any game. and im sure i can figure guile out a little
you guys banned the char i use
If the ‘rules’ are subject to change, why post them (especially for a game that isnt out)? What is the real difference between saying “banned now until we see he isnt broken” and “not banned until we see he is”? One of those statements requires information, the other just requires guessing. How will you find out if he is ‘very good’ or ‘too good’ if you plan not to even see how he fares in some of SF4’s very first console tournaments? Its entirely possible that Fei or Rose or someone is far closer to ‘too good’ that Seth could ever hope to be, so why isnt your pre-emptive ‘worry ban’ on all of the console content?
Its a silly thing to say and do, and its goes against so much that the community has spent so much time learning.
As far as banning Akuma in HDr goes, I have to ask: Was an akuma player even going to win your tournament? The two Akuma players at Frosty Faustings this weekend got 9th and 13th. So, why are we banning him again? Because a group of players feel he is #1 in the game?
As a traveler, I only have so much time and money i can use to ‘support the scene’, as you say. I can’t spend my money going to events who’s rules and methodology are things I dont even agree with. I’m a competitor. If I came to your tournament, I’d want to get to try to learn from playing the Akuma and Seth players in tournament. I want to play the WHOLE game.
If you are just going to ban characters that are #1 in the game, though, thats cool… but you’ll need a much longer ban list than you have.
As far as TvC goes, the only thing you need to ban right now is the use of any glitch that stops the game from being played. I’ve personally allowed players to change backgrounds if the Burning Ruins stage comes up, as it has problems with slowdown and the lighting is hell on colorblind folk.
Have a great event, I’m try to be constructive with my criticism, so don’t take it as a personal attack or anything. You don’t want to fight against Seth and HD Akuma, but I do.
Good point.
So Akuma remix hasn’t been banned in other tourneys though. I hear his fireball into RD was broken an that Damdai played with him at NEC to prove he was broken by using said tactic. I’m not running the tourney my self, Indy is too. I want to see what his opinion is on it first.
Maybe we should take the soft ban approach even though neither you nor I know much about SFIV. Old Sagat and Akuma ST are soft banned in Japan.
I wouldn’t say that our logic is silly on the matter. There others that feel Akuma should be banned already. But HD remix is not my game so I don’t know if the complaints I have already gotten about him possibly being playable are warranted or not.
Look, Damdai is a phenomonal player. In trying to prove that ‘akuma = broken’, he has made one very key mistake; He has gotten huge win records on other top players without using Akuma.
I mean, Damdai + Akuma = Tournament win, much like JustinW + 3s Chun = Tournament win. That doesnt mean anything is broken. Its just good. Probably the best stuff in the game. And some of the best players are using them. If you dont allow these characters and tactics, how will you ever learn to beat them?
That makes sense. I’ll talk to Indy and see what he thinks. I am up for unbanning him if he is too.
Keits: My rationale for banning Seth was pretty much as Mario described. He is a boss character and it is very safe to assume that he will have a stronger move set than any of the other characters. I agree that there is an element of guessing about whether he should be tourney legal or not. However, until a conclusive answer can be reached I feel it is the better decision to remain conservative. The Akuma ban comes from community opinion. Right now there are more people in favor of the ban than there are against it. I understand that these decisions will bother some people but having weighed up the options we believe that our decision is best for the tournament. I respect your opinion but I respectfully disagree.
Edit: reading the updates…I say lets do this the american way…we’ll vote!
It is decided then. Now back to pre-regs and continuing the hype.
Poll added.
