I have a super ancient Namco I bought in December 1996 with Soul Edge and I want to refurbish it as much as possible.
What’s a good replacement spring? (Does Hori still use the same spring in their sticks today?)

Doubtful that they use the same spring.
I know Tekken 5 springs are interchangeable with JLF springs. Hori seems to base a lot of their “stock part” measurements off of Sanwa hardware. But that’s talking about a joystick that’s ten years later than the Hori/Namco stick you have.
You’d probably have to disassemble that '96 Hori joystick to see how it matches up with a JLF.
My guess would be that the diameter of the shaft will be closer to a Hori than a Seimitsu unless it’s based off an LS-40.
A lot of the mid-1990s joysticks with arcade or modded arcade parts seemed to have Seimitsu parts.
Diameter of the shaft is the same as a JLF, they’re interchangeable. You can replace the spring with a JLF spring, it’s just a little stiffer than the Namco’s stock spring.
Thx!! I’ll try a JLF spring. I wouldn’t mind it being a little stiffer, actually.
I could have won one for 50 bucks plus shipping…insane last min bidding. I get one soon enough.
Yo all, this thread is gorgeous o.o,
This is Namco “Gatsu” Stick, with my frist attempt to paint the shell filling the common 4 hole and applying more 3 buttons on the front… in the christmas holiday i do the work again but for now i like it.
Inside there is a Madcatz wired game pad hack sanwa button and seimitsu stick.

I have to work on this one too, but i want to paint only the surface (with dio brando art, coz everything is yellow here ahah) this time :\ haven’t enough spare time -.-, the button is sanwa but the stick is the stock one
Does anyone have any recommendations for good replacement screws/bolts for the Namco control panel?
Where does one obtain replacement microswitches for the buttons? (I believe they’re the Tokai Communications MM9-1).
TKC MM9-2 actually.
I want to replace the ps1 pcb with an mc cthulu

Hmm… I think I want to get one of these. whats average price for it? I don’t want to be gouged…
There should be a SRK Doomsday vault. NIB consoles, CRT TVs, joysticks, games and replacement parts for all of the above.
I might as well ask here, too…
Does anyone know where I can order authentic Omron V-15-3A5 microswitches for refurbishing a Namco?
If they’re not available, what is the closest equivalent, and where can I order them?
Many thanks!!
Should be able to get them from the link in the above post.

Oh, rad! Thanks much, I really appreciate it!
I also think that buried somewhere in the 1st half of this thread is a link to purchase replacement microswitches for the buttons too in case you wanted to keep those as original as possible without having to gut other buttons to do so.
EDIT: Namco 1 of 2 arrived today. :woot:
So the Namco Sticks are really nice except for one small issue. When I push the stick all the way to the gate the spring jumps a bit. Is there a way to fix this?
Still don’t know where to purchase TKC MM9-2s :<
TheRealNeoGeo would be able to get.
That is because TKC MM9-2 are in Seimitsu Mahjong Buttons; JB-35-T.
