Nice namco’s
how many of these do you actually have? I had to force myself to stop at 10 lol…was reading the thread and seems you’ve purchased quite a few…make me wanna buy more when I look at these though. Good finds.
Having a hard time finding the answer in the thread. I’m looking to replace the spring in my Namco and maybe grease it. This would be my first time opening a stick up, and I’m a little a-scared of operating on my baby! From what I gathered, it will accept any Sanwa or Seimitsu spring?
One more thing, is it normal for the stick to depress further than the actual microswitch press? Example, once the microswitch “clicks” the stick can still be moved a little further in that direction… I guess it feels “squishy” if that makes
sense, and not in a good way.
I own, (all stock): 3 Agetec Dreamcast sticks, Hori Tekken 6 wireless, MadCatz SFIV TE and the Hori EX-2 and non of the sticks feel “squishy” the way this one does.
This is by far the most asthetically pleasing, comfy and functional stick I own or have ever used! I just want to give her a tight… Ok, I won’t go there!
Not any Spring.
Whatever you can do to the Sanwa JLF, you can do to Hori Joystick.
And all Microswitches do the click and can further move.
But I don’t know what the squishy you have is.
Namco is old.
Just grease it new.
All microswitches have a degree of travel after the ‘click’, with the amount varying depending on the exact switch. This may be what you’re feeling, as I haven’t used the others you mention to compare. Another possibility is the stick lifting slightly after full travel, which might be due to an extremely light (worn-out) spring.
How do you guys remove all the rust and gunk on the bottom plate?
Here’s what mine looks like (if you guys could tell me how to get rid of the permanent marker writing, that’d be great too):

Also, my medium kick button is a little “gummy”. The other five buttons are really clicky, but the medium kick button doesn’t feel as responsive (works fine though). Is there a way I can fix this?
Can someone tell me the dimensions of the stick, and the thickness at the thickest and thinnest part of the slope? Thanks
That’s exactly whats happening! It shouldn’t be too hard to replace the spring with a JLF spring, right?
I finally joined the Namco club! Haven’t gotten to use it yet, need a USB adapter. Any suggestions on which is the best? The stick and the buttons have a very clean feel to them, definitely will give it a chance, but thinking of doing a Sanwa or Seimitsu or optical mod. I’ve never used anything other than Sanwa before, and figure it’s time to try something new, or I’ll never know what is out there.
Another thing, is it has 2 small chips in the paint. Has anyone had any success in painting back to the original color? I’m keeping the possibility of just doing some sort of custom paint job to it, but would like to see what my options are.
I could always go with artwork and cover it up which a plexi as well. Does anyone have any images of a Namco with the plexi?

In terms adapters, if your using it for PS3 and PC the InPin converter works great. For 360 then get the XConverter 360 though you will need a wired Xbox 360 PCB to bypass the security.

Yeah, those people are weird :3
Hey so I’ve been looking around at adapters to finally use my Namco, and saw the Total Control Plus for Dreamcast compatibility. Anyone have any experience with this one? I’m amazed that I can simply get converters for almost every system and not have to worry about dual modding or RJ45. It definitely makes me appreciate this stick a lot more.
Gigazord mentioned for Xbox 360 I could use XConverter 360 but I would need a wired 360 pcb? I’m not exactly following. Does that mean I need to install some PCB into the stick? Is there no other option?
I just picked up an ASCII Dreamcast Capcom Stick. As soon as I get my PS3 adapter, I’m going to give the stock stick and buttons a shot to see how they feel, but if I don’t like it, I’m considering putting the optical and Sanwa parts into it. Has anyone had any experience with this? Is it pretty easy to do? Will I be able to do this without having to cut or alter the case in any way?
Right now I just have it sitting on my shelf with my other impulse stick purchases (Agetec, 2x TvC) haha. But I definitely prize this stick right up there with my Round 2 Dual modded TE. Would like to it in as tip top shape as possible.
I had posted this before and was hoping to get a response. The one I purchased has 2 chips in the paint. Has anyone had any success in painting these back to original color? I’m considering getting a plexi from Art Hong, but haven’t seen any pictures of what this looks like. Anyone have any?
The XConverter just requires you have any type of wired 360 PCB, most traditionally, a full controller. You just plug a 360 controller into the side of the converter to make the 360 think that it’s a legit 360 controller that’s plugged in. No PCB installation in the stick is necessary. All you need is to have a wired 360 controller with you wherever you take the Xconverter.
Just purchased my 2nd Namco. This one’s pretty banged up, but I intend to give it new life.

I figured, the ASCII stick I have coming will go into this one, and keep my first one stock. It just so happened that I already have a set of yellow sanwas and a yellow balltop already in the mail, seems like it was fate =D. I’m going to try and clean up those buttons, maybe some Goo Gone, and a good scrubbing will remove those old nasty stickers.
The bottom panel im going to sand out and see how much of that rust I can get rid of, but I’d like to get some form of a replacement for it. I plan on painting the top, just not sure if I want to go for the restored look, or something completely different. I almost need a 3rd to restore to do everything I have in my head haha. I have had my eyes set on a Femme Fatale so I can make my Juri stick, but now am thinking of painting this one white, adding purple buttons and balltop, and trying to craft some kind of a custom purple bezel to imitate the TE’s.
I would never want to do that to a perfectly good Namco, so it seems like I need to find another one in need of some TLC. I really would love to do a custom Juri one, and a full original restoration, just to challenge myself. If anyone knows of one for reasonably priced, please let me know.
Have PS3, 360, Dreamcast, and Gamecube converters coming in the mail, can’t wait to get some gaming in on these guys.
Def will keep you guys updated as I get to work on these babies.
Just won this stuff for $23.66 shipped :bgrin:

Woah, great find. Get yourself a dustwasher ASAP, though.
Wow, very jealous. Grats
Just got my 3rd Namco from the place that Uno Ill Nino had seen it. Got it for 27 shipped. I was amazed to receive a freaking 99% mint stick. Everything down to the sticker looks so damn fresh. Soon as I can find my camera cable I’ll post some pics.
Just wanted to share with my fellow Namco fans. I feel like a kid on Christmas. Finally got my first mint one. =D
