I just recently found out about these sticks, and this is an 11/10 for me. Slim case, 6 button layout, too good. Hoping the one I bought off a member here arrives soon, it’s the perfect stick for my PS2/PS3 needs.
Now if I can only get my hands on one more and I’d be set.
So here are some pics of the buttons that are same has namco stick they feel awesome. Since all the buttons had skinny pins microswitches and i cant put Qd"s on it. so i switched with my extra tekken 5 buttons and they work great.
Also i was able to get Tekken 3 stick for 11 dollars at japan auction. Those sticks are difficult to find, must harder then namco stick. i had no problem finding namco’s but hori tekken 3 i was only able to get it from japan auction.
Has u can see they have same parts has namco and color, only different case and 4 buttons. This stick is going to be great for tekken 6. lol
Either one actually. The T3 stick looks like sex, but I also like the Namco stick’s look and feel. Whichever one you happen to come across first, but I won’t be able to pay for it until payday next week.
And whenever you call me Tiddy you remind me of
Oh no dude, I seriously thought you were calling me Tiddy just to mess with me, which is fine lol
So I was playing T6 in some local casuals tonight, and the Namco stick feels like sex. Only problems I had were ones I was creating with poor execution. The stick feels way too nice
Almost forgot about your post jdm714. Thanks for the information! I knew that Kyle liked Mushihimesama, but I didn’t know that was a still image of the game in action!
You’ve got good eyes my friend!
If the Hori Real Arcade Pro series had these buttons and joystick, Mad Catz wouldn’t stand a chance against Hori!
Then again, it’d sort of ruin the whole idea of the “Real Arcade” part of Hori’s RAP name; the stock parts would feel so nice that nobody’d be willing to swap out the parts!
megaultrasuper, as far as I know (M K L or jdm714 will probably come in to own my statement later ), the stock joysticks in Hori’s Fighting Stick Line are the exact same as the joystick in the Namco Arcade Joy Stick. The only thing that might be different is the microswitches but you can easily buy replacements from Mouser Electronics. They’re not the exact same as the Namco’s microswitches, but they’re pretty damn close. They feel the same and that’s what really matters.
But yeah, I’m pretty sure you don’t actually have to do any replacing on your Fighting Sticks. If you notice, there are more complaints about the buttons than there are the joystick so I think the joystick in these things is at least of Namco caliber.
fs3? sure, but to be honest the only difference between the two sticks are the springs (the fs3 spring is crap). the shafts are almost identical (grooves are slightly different but otherwise the same length, thickness), actuators and spring holders are the same, and the bases are nearly identical. i don’t know what kind of microswitches are in the fs3 but for the most part hori uses quality microswitches in their joysticks.
try replacing the spring with a jlf spring (slightly tighter than namco) or ls32 spring (slightly tighter than jlf) and you will probably notice a world of difference.
Those Microswitches are the EXACT SAME as in the Namco Arcade Stick.
Cool don’t you guys think?
But that does not mean much.
The difference between the two (OMRON and Matsushita) is the 15A and 16A.
If look through the Data Sheet, Operating Force of the Actuator is same for both (1.96 N {200 gf} being).
I sold my Virtua Fighter 5 one, so I cannot check what Microswitches are used.
You know what?
It does even mean matter.
In my Soulcalibur IV, there are three OMRON V-15-3A5.
The other Microswitch is a Matsushita AM51630A53N.
Laugh.
hey jdm714, while you are in here… ever use the sanwa obs-30 buttons? i’ve been dying to try them out for months but since they cost almost as much as rg’s i haven’t been bold enough…till now. my set should be here in a few days. i can’t wait to try a clicky sanwa! since i like the jlw a lot, i thought they might be a good fit for a true japanese happ style stick haha
In my FS3 the switches are Matsushita. Comparing them to the omron switches I have in a JLF pcb I have (I no longer have the stick) they feel almost identical in engage force.
I have been tempted to desolder the switches from the JLF pcb and install them in my FS3, but I didn’t think it would increase performance enough to bother.
Also, unrelated note: I installed a JLF in my Tekken 5 stick a while back. I did so by drilling through the tabs one of the tabs for each microswitch on the plastic restrictor. When I did this the screws that were holding the Tekken stick on were long enough to pass through the holes and hold the joystick in place. I used an octagonal gate I had for this as a test, and it worked, then I did the same to the square gate.
But, the result is that I have a leftover octagonal gate with holes drilled through it. Well, what I can tell you now is that it is possible to fit an octo gate to a stock Hori stick. Feels pretty good. I personally switched back to square, but my roommate preferred octo. I think this should work on a Namco stick.
I imagine you could also use a square JLF gate if you wanted to, but it is the exact same size as the Hori one so I don’t think it would make a difference.
