Anji’s butterfly trap:

  1. score a knockdown:
  • throw (kinda sorta far, but quite useable)
  • air grab (both dp+H and air throw work)
  • 2-3 hit ground combo>sweep>qcf+S, K ext
  • there are more, but go play Anji a bit and you’ll know more… these just from toppa me head
  1. learn timing for tossing out butterfly (qcf+P) such that they wake up into it. Then after aforementioned “step 1. knockdown,” throw the butterfly, dash in

  2. keep them pinned after wakeup butterfly hits (then turns into overhead) and smack them with a low hit (or mix it up):

  • knockdown>butterfly, dash in>s.K>s.S (close)>d.D (butterfly overhead lands->unblockable)>qcf+S, K-ext>back to Step 2
  • knockdown>butterfly, dash in>d.K>s.S (close)>d.S (butterfly lands)>d.D>fuujin, K-ext>Step 2
  • if they try to jump up away from your overhead butterfly: knockdown>butterfly, dash in>airgrab>Step 2
  • mixup: knockdown>butterfly, dash in>qcb+P>d.S (butterfly lands)>d.D>fuujin, K-ext>Step 2 (qcb+P is the short stomp, the qcb+K version is farther ranged stomp. i’m pretty sure you can cross up with just the P-version. if not, try use the K)
  • mixup: knockdown>butterfly, dash in>ground throw (before landing butterfly hits them)>Step 2
  • against Potemkin: knockdown>butterfly, dash in>either jump, IAD towards, IAD back, or backdash to avoid Pot-buster (butterfly lands on whiff animation)>dash in, combo>sweep>fuujin, K-ext>Step 2

You get the gist of it :stuck_out_tongue:

oh right. for a big pain in the ass (for the opponent):
blocked string to raise their guard meter>fan super, FRC>butterfly, dash in>wait for butterfly to land, d.S>d.D (last couple hits from fan super land)> [Finisher]

[Finisher] can be something like:

  • super jump towards>sj.SPSD (that’s sj.S>sj.P>sj.S>sj.D)
  • sj.KSH>air qcb+P (probably doesn’t work on all weights)
  • airgrab>Step 2 of butterfly trap

This is Anji’s pain in the ass unblockable that did ~80% in GGXX. i’m not 100% sure if it’s still alive in reload, but go test it out. the FRC for the fan super is pretty much right after the flash, so you get to toss out a butterfly pretty early. this lets the fan super build up their block meter up the wazoo before you smack them with the landing butterfly unblockable bit. they get hit by like 2 hits of fan super and your d.S>d.D (you might not need a d.D, i’m not sure).
with the block meter adequately high, and since only the last couple of hits of fan super are hitting (which do the big damage, if i’m not wrong), you’re hitting for a HUGE amount of damage in a 6-10 hit combo.

in #reload, Anji gets kinda stupid with other fuujin stuff i’ve seen:
combo>d.D>qcf+S, K-ext>something like d.P>s.S(close)>fuujin, K-ext>d.P>s.S©>fuujin, K-ext>d.P>s.S>fan super>airgrab>Step 2

i’m not sure who gets hit by this or whatever, but i saw it in multiple combo vids (and it’s not some weird EX Anji or full-guard meter combo, either). it might not be d.P>s.S©, but try d.P>s.S© or s.K>s.S© or just s.S© right away. you might need to dash in a tad, i’m not 100% sure.
i’m also not 100% sure on how many reps you get. probably 2 for practical damage, and the combo vid just did it across the entire stage for coolness factor. you can also just drop them after any rep and just jump back to Step 2.

so yeah. go play around with his moves a bit. i’m sure you can come up wtih more setups and whatnot for him. i’m just a GGXX scrub if i’m not playing XX Baiken (even with her, i’m scrubby… random sweep>dust loop) :stuck_out_tongue:

wow maobei–basically hit low when the butterfly hits high.

We SERIOUSLY need to all get together and play…ESPECIALLY with T5 coming out soon.

hit low when butt is high, eh. that’s like saying “basically, just parry->gigas” :stuck_out_tongue:
but yeah. it’s mostly a high-low simultaneous hit. like Zato’s eddy drill mine+air hit

Nappy. No one here plays Tekken, that’s all there is to it. If you’re looking for any 2D comp, or SC2 / VF, we can talk.

The Tekken people have their own thing going on in the TZ forums, MN is divided pretty much down the center now that those who used to float between groups have decided to just stick with one.

alright so it just maobley coming tomorrow?

i won’t be alone. i’ll bring along Vice :stuck_out_tongue:
and you’ll bring along ocvs sigh.

I’ll see if I can find vice stuff… pretty hard tho… but I’ll see

Since I usually don’t show up until late afternoon, I’ll skip this weekend since you’re ending it at 3:30.

aww…

I couldnt get there for once. They moved the location. Someone did offer me a ride, but…

I was held up that day. I dont think I wanted to stay until 6 am, either. I’ll get bored.

well, results of the quickie:

  • yays. i can RC more often than i can do a gigas (tachi or normal)
  • Vice’s sexy CC is damned hard to do consistently ><
  • i don’t get how to move around in this game -> jump==get hit by antiair normals. walk == get hit by ground normals. roll == either finish roll into whatever move they instantly recover from that you rolled through in the first place and get hit by the followup, or you get thrown.
i dun see how you guys can play it without RCs. i can’t walk 3 steps without eating 50% but i also suck hardcore :stuck_out_tongue:

but whatever. Vice >> bad game, ergo cvs2 will now officially be in my training menu (along with tachi) :stuck_out_tongue:

Spacing and poking is done in a similar manner as in A3 and AE/ST. There are a few more options avaiable to certain grooves like low jump and running, but the general principles are the same. This is why I want you and Rob to learn more about AE.

Also, patience…you don’t have to a) jump b) walk or c) roll. There is another option…d) sit and let them come to you. Sometimes making the other person lose patience and try to attack you is the right thing to do. I remember seeing Wes playing Bison vs Bison (3rd char vs. 3rd char) in CvS2 qualifiers at EVO. He had about a 1/2 life-bar lead on the other guy and they were across the screen from each other. Wes just sat there and wanted the other guy make the first move. The other guy was trying to do the same thing to Wes. However, Wes had no reason to make any moves since his life was higher and he would win on timeout. After about 15 seconds of them just sitting on opposite sides of the screen, the other guy moved in and Wes countered his crap and beat him.

i don’t think i do enough normal move poke strings. keeping that in mind from now on ><
i keep forgetting that Cvs2 was made in kof style, but written by Capcom… therefore special moves aren’t 95% of the poking ^_^;

NO–CVS2 is definately a dirivative of ST. Same poking logic applies. meaties, footsies, trades… everything. That’s why Wes owns in that game. Same for Frank.

Maobei: if I could hug you I would, cause this Anji Shenanigans is simply amazing. i couldn’t but to be in absolute control of the entire match be cause of nothin but better fly trap set-ups.

Simply amazing!!!

Did someone play KOF:02/03 yet. Is this game worth buying? Normally tis I who would tell you guys. but I honestly haven’t played it yet…lol!

so yha know

peace!!!

Whee. 5th.

Adolfo confirms it - Alex > Hugo.

Mike Z

Congrats, good job dude. Of course, everyone knows that Alex is better than Hugo , at least everyone who isn’t in love with doing circuits homework .

i’m not in love with it. Bridget, and now Vice, will always have a spot much higher than circuits homework (Hugo sneaks his spd-ily sexy, meaty frame in there, too) :stuck_out_tongue:

I may or may not be speaking for Maobei when I say this. . . but I am speaking for myself.

I understand the concept of footsie, spacing, meaties, trades.

That style of play, however, is not only boring, but it’s irritating to me. I quit playing SC2 seriously simply because of the fact that what it took to win was not fun, it was boring. The game is so pretty, but that is all nullified by the fact that you could easily beat a good player by just reusing the same safe move constantly.

It’s not that I don’t understand these principles in games like AE, CVS, or 3S. . . . it’s that I get so bored doing them. . . . Maobei seems to like the poking in 3S, but I know he doesn’t like the waiting. Or maybe he does, I don’t know. I just am assuming this from how he reacts to runaway Yun.
