Higher education??? :xeye:

OMG TJ posted, sup man!!! Hey what is that wierd step people do with Ling in t4 (sorry for saying the t word to those that are offened…lol) when her back is turned? And does she have it in t5?

higher maobie.

Webster–I had a 2 win streak with Sean. Then Maobei tried to xcopy my sean style.

-M

i didn’t really copy your Sean style so much as your shoto style :stuck_out_tongue:
i applied it to the higher shoto with the AWESOMEKICK [tm]

Kage > Sean

His tossup throw juggle is tough as hell to do, you need to charge down while recovering from the throw, seems easy enough, but he’s backturned, and you need to hit towards (meaning, turn around first, then hit towards, while charging down) The window is stupidly small for him to hit with the knee. . . . So once you hit with that, it’s two more inputs . Once I get to that stage, I’ll report how difficult that is :o

VF was fun though, we need to play more of it, since like all of you know more about the game than I do, but I’m the only one who will say that they ‘play’ it.

Bmike needs to learn the insano-damage massive throws. All though, if I was to give any advice, I’d say to not focus entirely on that, cause that’s what people did in WI. There was a Kage and Jeffry/Wolf player, who basically only went for throws. . . That’s probably a big part of why I did so well with Lei, 99% of the time I was either in an unthrowable stance or poking with a long distance move that stuffed a lot of peoples advancement attempts.

Hey I not ashamed to admit that I won the only VF1 tournament in montana using PEI. :slight_smile:

I know squat about that game, except that the drinking guy is cool. As far as 3d games go, it’s not too bad (probably the best, save possibly SC). However, playing more of it, especially over games like AE and CvS2, is heresy! Anyway, as I said a few weeks ago, we should really play AE more. That game r0xx0rz :wtf: woot lol rotfl :amazed: --ENOUGH!. Ahem, I mean it’s a good game.

i wouldn’t mind a bit of VF4 now and then. i mean, Akira is like Ken… so i’ll probably just switch to Wolf since he has the closest to an spd the game has (with a 180-throw, but he spinnies!) ^_^;

and Rob… i don’t know shit about the game. but what i’ve reported to you was AFTER you made me play it waaaay back when. so i went and looked at the video opera VF4 vids along with my standard 2D stuffs since you were really hyped about playing a 3D (well. other than SC2… which i also looked up a few videos with Assrot) ^_^;

and i haven’t looked up any forums/combos/system/etc etc until now since you seem to be pushing VF4/3D into team MN’s repertoire more actively than before… mainly because big Mike played, instead of me.

well. it was fun last weekend, but seeing as how Rob finally found somebody to play 3D with (who doesn’t suck like Maobei does), i’ll see you guys like spring break or something

/me turns and walks into the sunset with headband blowing and travel bag on shoulder… “the fight is all”… </cliche>

I just think we need something new to keep things alive.

CVS, AE, 3S, and now GG#R to an extent are starting to be a bit boring. . . At least to me. Granted, I’m a bit harder to please than most of you, (:p) but I for one can’t switch just between these games that we’ve (excluding myself) have played day in and day out for years.

The reason I suggested VF, was 100% based on the Evo finals. Those matches were really fun to watch, where as in every other game, I nearly fell asleep. Even really ‘good’ people playing AE was like Chun vs Chun in 3S every match.

Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger Uppercut, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger.

I just think we need a new flavor, not one to replace the others, but a new one to add to the mix. I tend to think I’m the only one who feels this, though.

First of all, they weren’t playing AE, they were playing ST. I know it’s similar, but the difference is comparable to XX vs XX#R - probably greater. The only boring matchup in ST is Sagat vs. whoever. Pretty much any other matchup is quite lively. Plus, if you look deeply, and understand what’s going on, even Sagat matchups are pretty entertaining. The spacing and timing required for things to work is quite interesting to watch, even if the sounds get monotonous.

I have to think that both you (Rob) and Maobei haven’t quite grasped the subtleties and complexities of AE or ST. It’s sort of like an elegant dance mixed with a face-paced game of chess when played between 2 people who know what they’re doing. That’s part of the reason that I think we should play it more is so you guys can hopefully start to appreciate it (since it’s hard to grasp just by watching since it’s not nearly as flashy as most other games).

I wouldn’t mind throwing a bit of VF into the mix too. I just don’t think that you and Maobei have given AE much of a chance.

it’s not that i don’t understand the concept of spacing and more severe timing restrictions in AE… but the fights are kinda shallow, in my eyes. i’d venture to say that 5% are hits/combos, 5% is reacting to getting hit/waking up/dodging hits, and 90% is watching your shadows so you don’t get low-poked/avoiding projectiles.
i mean, it’s great for learning spacing, but when the opponents are hanging back 95% of the time and tossing projectiles, watching you jump advance for a dp/flashkick/otherwise invincible uppercut-style move, watching you to walk advance for a low poke>another projectile, watching you to block for a tick throw… the game kinda gets boring…
granted, i’m learning… oh, nothing. the only interesting bits are when opponents are non-projectile oriented folk, like Wes’ (and most people’s) Ken, boxer Bison, psycho Vega, and above all, Kuni’s Zangief.

dancing is a great pasttime and all, but it’s HARD (edit) to enjoy its elegance when you’re constantly cautious about stepping on your partner’s toes.

Why is it that only the opponent can do these things???

because it’d be uber boring if i did it, too??? besides, Zangief doesn’t have projectiles. neither does thawk.
1x players doing it is boring. 2x players doing it would be 2x more boring, obviously

Rather than writing a long if>then flowchart of how I feel AE is played, I am just going to add that the reason I didn’t / don’t give AE much credit is simply because of the simplistic nature. Your options are severely limited in any situation. Against Sagat, it’s always the same situation, and no one can argue that if any of us decided to play this game seriously we wouldn’t fight any Sagat players.

As Maobei mentioned, if both players DO hang back 95% of the time, how is that fun in any way? That’s like a 2d FPS, with three weapons, and the twitch advantage removed.

That being said, Kuni rules. He was VERY fun to watch. He was the only one I found entertaining, the rest were boring as all hell.

Daigo vs Fagat, Wes vs Fagat, and Jesse vs Fagat were entertaining, too since they also played characters who had to actually gasp, foreign concept coming through advance and do gasp another foreign concept upcoming PHYSICAL hits!
see. tekken sucks because it’s a) tekken and b) it has shitty player movement capabilities… AE has virtually no player movement programmed in at all :stuck_out_tongue:

i’m bashing on 2D… i feel so dirty and at the same time, so un-dirty… ;_;

People:

There are way too many fighting game over there at Big Mike’s to just play CVS, AE, 3S, and GGXX#R.

Be like I and play every fighting (yes, including tekken) game and just have fun with them. And pay a little more attention to the games you wanna rep. in.

I mean that’s what I was doing, then none of the games you play will get boring, cause you’ll have a mix of everything.

At least that’s my opinion!!!

Try it for a month, remember when I was there we “tried” to play everything. From Darkstalkers, to…lol…MK6, etc. etc.! Yes maybe most of those games sucked, but there fun. Fuck being serious…that’s what tournaments are for yha know. And honestly when the next tournament you’re all goin to? EVO? Next year…right?

You have so much time to relax and enjoy games, rather be all serious and picky.

Just my opinion again!

BTW: thanks Mike for repin. Sean!!! :karate:

I wish you could all come down here and play, good times indeed!!!

is there gonna be a thing this saturday? i’m probably not showing up (surprise surprise) since i have a possible pupil dilation checkup-thingy since me glasses exploded because lenscrafters suck nuts.
but that’s at like 8am. so i’ll see. anyways. gimme the info, big Mike? :stuck_out_tongue:

Hell yeah, same time same place. Come play fighting games. :slight_smile:

if they dilate me, i might be able to go later in the day. if they don’t dilate me, then i’ll probably just go. either way, i’m going to do homework just in case they dilate me and i won’t be able to see for ~6hrs on saturday

so either way, i’ll see (har har) how it goes.

awesome… we can do homework together

what homework do you have? i can watch you do CG :stuck_out_tongue:
but only if you have crayons
