** What the heck is a ladder? - **
A ladder is an ongoing method of ranking players who are competing in a game. It is called a ladder because it operates on the principle of rank or rungs. Your ranking/rung on the ladder indicates how good you are as compared to the other players. When you sign up you start at the bottom of the ladder. Your goal is to climb the ladder to the #1 spot.
Up, up and away!
When you beat someone you move up half the distance between their rank and yours. So if you were at the #100 rank and beat the #1 player, you move to #50. All players ranked 50-99 slide down one rung to make room for you.
Down we go.
What happens if you lose? Your rank remains the same. You lose rungs on the Ladder when other players jump ahead of you, forcing you down. The only exception comes when you lose to the person directly beneath you. In this case you switch spots.
How will this work?
Challenge a player that is part of the league to a set (2\3, or 3\5) after agreeing on a server. After the set is over the loser will report the outcome on the games respected league website. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU REMIND YOUR OPPONENT TO REPORT THE LOSS!
You are allowed to have 3 (might change to 5) sets with the same user (to prevent abuse of the ranking system).
What if they refuse to report a loss?
If this happens, Please send an email to a ladder admin or post a screenshot on the specific games forum thread as proof that your opponent refused to report the loss. If the screenshot is legit, that person will be permenently banned from the ladder league for ALL games, no exceptions, and NO, He will not be coming back… This is why its INVITE only.
Why are the leagues Invite Only?
Why not? Imagine a league where players can freely join as many times as they want…, Havoc would break through and there would be no way to moderate the ladder league… Players would not report losses… Top ranked players would create new account to smurf on scrubs, etc. To prevent this the ladder is moderated and Invite only.
I want to join, How do I go about doing this?
Click on one of the links below, MVC, KOF2002 and ST are currently public and free to join without invitation. The only league that requires an invitation at the moment is SFA3.
