These changes makes me want to say how damn glad I am Spidey was never popular in MVC3. Instead of getting these buffs he would have been getting nerfs. I have a feeling he’s going to be a monster in UMVC3.

Well web zip is already cancelable so I doubt it’s that. I do see new combos occurring and old combos changing due to speed adjustments also. Spidey should have web throw be super cancelable in the events you throw a bad web throw and are about to be super punished that way you can counter and dhc out

If that’s the case then I see a lit more potential if they fixed the combo system
thing is though if they really did mean they are cancellable with xfactor, why would they even mention it? every single character in the game will be able to cancel basically every move they have with xfactor, so why would it be worth mentioning ONLY in spideys changelog? a blanket change encompassing all characters (such as aerial xfactor) does not need to be verified in each individuals characters change log. i would bet along the lines of it being cancellable either with an air dash or (most likely) into webzip.
plus if capcom really are using tourney presence etc to determine buffs/nerfs, i think spidey is pretty safe since the only spidey i have seen at EVO was from Ryry, and even then he dropped spidey like a bad habit after he lost his first match and just went with Akuma instead. i was pretty miffed when i saw that tbh.
I watched the video of the panel today. It was done with a translator so obv there is always room error in translation. The translation came trough as web ball, web swing, and spider sting are cancelable with other web based moves. My best guess is that you will be able to cancel these moves with web zip, although being able to cancel spider sting and web swing with web ball would make Spider-Man’s offensive options quite crazy.

Being able to cancel into web zip already sounds crazy. L Web Ball, upforward webzip would make approaches very safe, kinda of a guetto sentinel drone. But for this to really count they need to have reduced the startup on his moves quite a bit…with currente frame data you’d only be able to do stuff like this from a full screen distance, web zip is extremely slow, particularly midscreen.

indeed all the mentioned moves are webzip cancellable. yay!
webzip is the only move that has been sped up.
and of course, mashable crawler assualt… though that’s pointless if you ask me… i wished they decreased the startup instead…

Let’s hope so. ANY nerf on web throw would be pretty big news for him so I’m sure they would have definitely mentioned it if it was true. Oh well, more shine for us. Can’t wait to play the new refined Spidey. :rock:

He only gave like a taste of some changes for each character. There’s probably more for spiderman, so yeah. idk
So apparently in the EVO UMvC3 build, Spider-Man’s webthrow actually scales. I don’t have video footage, but the guy who came in 33rd at EVO, a Spider-Man player apparently, made the statement on one of my friend’s facebook pages. Still, he can cancel any of his specials with a webzip, making his pressure insanely good. Without concrete proof I can’t say for sure, but it’s very likely that he is going to lose some damage output. Still, we’ll have to wait for the final version to come out to verify.

With ToDs potentially removed from the game, I’m perfectly fine with it.
EDIT: Actually, on second though, if web throw scales normally, it probably will no longer compensate over an aerial chain, which brings us back to the problem of connecting Maximum Spider afterwards and severe damage nerf (the Isedelica does, what, 640k?). Also, Crawler Assault already does more damage than MU, with it being mashable, it probably will do even more damage, which means our bnb may switch to entire ground stuff, possibly with more webzips mid combo.
