we still need to know about web ball being techable. at least web zip + frames was put to bed, but it’s been months and we still don’t even have a definite answer on web ball.

Good news and bad news.
Bad news: Web Ball is now air techable. Just hold back, and you can get out of resets and setups.
Good news: New UWT hitbox grabs even if they forward tech. No matter how they tech in the corner, they still get grabbed.
I didn’t test publishes on techs. Ill leave that to Xero.

did you set up the UWT reset with an otg assist or can it be done solo now? (think j. l web ballxx otg webzip, land, UWT)

Well at least we finally know and thankfully its inescapable in the corner so thats a welcome addition. Plus now its actually a mix-up and not just automatic I guess.
It WAS changed, in some builds. By calling attention to it, it was then identified as an unintentional change and was fixed.
Sadly they didn’t fix web ball too.
can anyone test if solo relaunces are possible using air web ball cancelled into webzip? this is the one thing i desperately want to know.

but he’s not the best at accurate first impressions so take from it what you will
lol justin’s vanilla spiderman was outclassing everyone in terms of getting hits, but he had no combos in the first few months when he was trying spidey.
im guessing he can do maybe 30-40% on most characters with a very simple bnb, i’m not surprised if justin likes spiderman after this because he is really good at getting hits, but is not a technical specialist. glad to know he likes spidey though.
Ok, so our 3 “nerfs” are:
-No blocking during airdash
-Web Throw damage is now scaled
-People can tech out of Web Ball
… Hmm, I actually feel that people flipping out of it might make more practical resets work, esp. with UWT.
I still have one more question though: where the hell is mah boi, Evil_Rahsaan??? If he quit when Spidey got hella buffed, I will be most upset. MOST. UPSET.

but if those are the only nerfs, then I’ll be fine because those nerfs are not all that bad. man I can’t wait till Tuesday so I can hit the lab with Spidey

Nope. Just tested it. The web ball comes out too slow to get the OTG in the time alotted.
He still feels super good guys just… I’m not really great at finding combos (I’m more of a reset person). That’s why I said I wish someone like Xero was here with me to help me figure out what’s good.
Don’t forget you can’t use jump canceled H Web Throw in non-corner combos now.

Crouch Series, Web Swing, j.MMS, st.MH xx Spider Sting xx Spider Bite, cr.MH, S, j.MMHS, OTG follow up.
Crouch Series, Web Swing, j.MMS, st.MH xx Spider Sting xx Spider Bite, cr.MH, j.H Web Throw xx TK Maximum Spider (Corner Only)
Air Throw, Web Zip xx j.H, insert combo here
Gonna test if you can self OTG off UWT and if you can dash UWT to catch backwards techs mid screen.
Also, be prepared to take your time to relearn some of those combos. Certain things that seemed like that work in vanilla require stricter timing… at least to me. Things I remember never dropping (series, Web Swing, MH xx Web Ball xx UWT Reset) seem to just whiff if your timing isn’t spot on. It’s as if opponent’s float higher in combos. I might have to start just using st. M, cr.H xx Web Ball to set up the “basic” UWT reset.
Edit: Timing is tight but I just set the dummy to jump and did a raw UWT and was able to solo follow up with OTG for 830k. No assists. No DHCs.

you know how you could do a shorter combo so that you could down webzip to j.S after your air series to land right when they do?
could you try and see if this works with longer combos now (cancel an H Web Swing after an air series into down web zip j.S) and if the web ball relaunch thing described works. landing at the same time as your opponent gives you a lot of their grounded time to work with

See if it’s still possible to dash under opponent and combo with s:l: after j:h: when doing a web swing combo. I want to know the new damage on my one mill combo and I have multiple ideas for CA combos

The UWT horizontal box is intriguing for sneaky catches too. That’s not really lab work so much as in game testing though. coool…
I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Most UWT resets occur when the opponent is low to ground, which was the main point of the one-shot phoenix idea working. Unless she was low to the ground during her transformation, Spiderman wouldn’t be able to out-range her. Since it’s been confirmed that UWT reset works, then the hitbox should still be able to reach phoenix.
Really, even though the direction changed, I’m not noticing a drastic change in the hitbox of UWT.
