''My punches are stronger than your kicks......'' 0_o (Balrog thread)

I just had to come in here and say how underrated Rog’s crouching HP is. Having an issue with Honda Sumo Smashes? cr.HP! Can’t react fast enough to Blanka’s jumping in with a headbutt? cr.HP! Beat nearly every jumpin from Gief without risking a blocked headbutt? cr.HP!! Jumpin from a Chun when she sees you walk forward? CR.HP!!!1!

It’s like a stand-in-place dash upper punch. Sure it has kinda slow startup and it will trade (I’d rather trade against Blanka/Gief with that then get a blocked headbutt), but once you look for opportunities it becomes a nice substitute for the now kinda lacking LP headbutt.

I was actually going to say this as well. I think learning to do this to play Boxer in SF4 helped me learn to try this in HDR.

Also, there SweetJV told me that Graham once said that he’d “trade all day for a win.” Not a bad option.

it even beats, not just trades, buttslam if you catch honda during your apex.

say it isn’t so

Yup, I’m playing Boxer and SF4. And yes, I always told my Mom that I’d jump off the bridge with my friends. :wgrin:

Does anyone play this character? lol

I’ll pick up the thread like it was yesterday

cr. HP: trades with hawk dives! Trades with splashes! Trades with everything! and heavy in boxer’s favor

Floating fierce really doesn’t set up much in your favor, it’s just a way to safely advance forward an inch without being vulnerable to projectile followups. it’s also nice to bait AA reversals by jumping straight up just out of range and then floating into them for a punish

for charge characters you can often jump a fireball and immediately release a TAP upon landing, if they throw another one as soon as possible it should trade

Right now I need strats v Cammy, fighting this match for the first time was a big bucket of
