I think I’m with caliagent on this one. One thing I’ve noticed among fighting gamers, anime fans, and most SRKers is that lolicon (in both forms) is almost like a joke now. For some reason a lot of people no longer view it with the utmost seriousness as in the past (or maybe they still do but indicate otherwise for the sake of fitting in, no one can really be sure) simply because it’s funny or trendy to poke fun about it. Whereas with typical Westerners, there would still be a huge problem with making a game and deliberately trying to draw people into it in the manner they’ve used. I mean, a couple weeks ago people were calling a public tournament “lolifest” or something. That just isn’t funny.

I could be way off though. Who knows.

Oh, is it because Arturo and Justin played the game? Once again, I’d like to know what exactly you’ve seen. Details bub. I could say I’ve seen a dude posting on srk under the name caliagent#3 while at the same time looking at loli hentai and claim it to be true without citing any details and it would have about as much credibility as your claims.

And a lot of people would think people playing competitive SF is weird. What’s your point? What values?

It bothers me because the people playing these games are passionate about competitive fighting games, same as people playing SF, KoF, Tekken, or Marvel, yet people like you are so rigid in wanting to believe they are just a bunch of otaku losers who only play the games because they like beating off to lolis. It’s a big stumbling block for the growth of a fighting game when other fighting gamers want to hate it. Like I said, if you don’t like the characters, fine, but don’t insult the whole community to explain why you don’t like the game.

Last I checked, liking Will Smith (come on, nobody can hate Fresh Prince) didn’t have indirect ties to a federal offense. Okay I’m kidding. Seriously though, in a genre where we’re striving to get more people involved, you think naming a tournament after something like lolicon is funny? Forget funny, that’s just sad. You don’t think we can potentially lose new players with bs like that? And people wonder where the hate comes from? I doubt it has much to do with the actual playing of fighting games since a lot of other genres have gamers that are just as obsessive, if not more so.

For the record I obviously have nothing against gameplay or the community. I think that’s always been clear. But to my understanding the thread isn’t about a lack of quality gameplay… unless I missed a few pages. :lol:

You don’t have to believe my claims at all. If you’re blind enough not to see how the majority of people perceive those who play these games, that’s your problem. It doesn’t matter if they’re right or wrong either, all that matters is how it looks. Not a difficult concept to understand. You wouldn’t go to a job interview at a fortune 500 company in torn jeans and a dirty t-shirt.

I know a lot of people think that not only is competitive SF weird, but any sort of competitive gaming is weird. But honestly i don’t care lol. Not hurting me one bit. I’m not insulting anyone, i’m just calling it like i see it. It has nothing to do with the gameplay, the fact that the game is populated with little girls and how they’re presented alienates me from the game.
