My stick has this weird problem where every once in a while, the jab button just gets really irresponsive. It starts responding a split second later than it should, and then if I hold the button down and watch the inputs I’m getting in MAME, it acts as if I’m tapping the jab button over and over for a second.
I really hate having a broken stick around, and lets face it, eventually the jab buttons just gonna go kaput. Any idea how I can diagnose my problem and ideally get it fixed?
u should check the mame options and see if auto fire is on for any button. that can make what you are describing happen. OR take a picture of the inside of the stick and a close up of the button and maybe i can help u fix it. OR just replace the button =)
if no other buttons exhibit this behavior, and its an American (Happ) style part, replace the microswitch. No need to replace the button.
If no other buttons exhibit this behavior, and its a Japanese style part (Sanwa, Seimitsu) then replace the button; they’re far easier to get ahold of than replacement switches for japanese parts.
If its a stock, unmodded stick like a T5, Namco, whatever, then prepare to either spend the money to get it modded, comb the trading outlet for the spare parts someone doesnt from when THEY modded theirs, or buy a new one.
If you’re gonna ask for help, make sure to include enough information. That you limited the behavior to the one button is good, but you didn’t even bother to mention what kind of stick you have or even what system its made for. Kinda makes it difficult for anyone to help.
Oh, should have included the stick. It’s a Hori DOA4. So the buttons are Hori stock. I have 0 modding experience, and I don’t really have the time or tools for that kinda stuff. :wasted:
Finding a replacement shouldnt be hard; number of people have been modding those lately. But even if you do get a replacement, replacing requires a minimum of a soldering iron and some sort of desolder tool like copper braid or a desolder pump. You’re gonna have to get the tools and learn, buy a new stick, for put an advert in the trading outlet to find someone to mod or repair it for you. If its new enough, maybe return it or contact Hori about replacement or possible warranty.
EDIT: You should also doublecheck it does this on the 360. If it doesn’t, then it may just be a driver thing and not a hardware thing.
Mariodood: I would first say go into controlpanel->game controllers. Then click the profile to test the buttons. See if anything weird is happening then go about changing out buttons.
James123:Hori Wii stick does use microswitches. There are many different kinds of microswitches, but the ones inside the HORI buttons and sticks are microswitches none the less.
Remeber that the switches that are in HORI and Sanwa buttons are interchangeable, they are the same size, only difference is the prongs on th Sanwa and pins on the HORI
