Hi everyone, my name is Michael Stevens, but I prefer you call me Mikaru-san Hazama. I am a graduate student at USC, and I studied video game design and anime. I want to make a new 2d fighting game with my friends. The game will have gameplay that is a mix of Blazblue and Melty Blood, with a touch of MvC3 added(simpler inputs are best desu ne^_^). The art style will be very similar to Blazblue, but more silly and light hearted.
Why do I want to make this game? Well, so far I am disappointed in modern gaming, most games now made by the West use a very generic dark and gritty style which I despise. I wasn’t truly serious about this idea until I saw Painwheel revealed for Skullgirls. I was looking forward to the game a bit but started to feel it was becoming a bit too dark for my tastes, Painwheel’s reveal proved to me that Mike Z intends to take his game into a very grimdark style and setting that I simply do not care for at all. I will take it upon myself to make my own fighter in my own unique and flavorful style.
I have already designed the protagonist for the game, his name is Kenpachi Hiriyuki, he is a 14 year old who goes to Kawarimi High, a school in Japan known for mysticism and the birthing of heroes. The story for this game will be very deep, the basic gist is that the economy is faltering, and Kawarimi High decides to hold a martial arts tournament to determine who will have enough money to go to college. Sadly the tournament is not what it seems, and many will fall into a plot full of intrigue and Japanese mysticism. Kenpachi is a young slim boy with blonde and pink hair, who fights with a katana 5 times the length of his body(which is named Onihakumaku, ogre blade of earth and hell which splits the five heavens and ends all life in the world of shadows and darkness) and a love for strawberry icecream and marshmallow chicks. So far I plan on him being an all around character much like Ryu from SF(but better because SF is too slow and not as deep and fun as my anime ideas). So far he has the following quotes I voice acted myself(as the character needs a high pitched voice, and I’m perfect for the part):
“I will always fight for justice!”
“Truth is the only way!”
“I fight for what is right!”
Kenpachi is also half angel, half oni, half tengu, and half kitsune, and he has a special system in the game called the “Kemono” engine, where when he is at low health and has full meter, he can transform into a 9 tails oni tengu angel. During this mode he gets access to his Fuki Yuki Shiki Waki Haku Sakiraki Ching Chang Dong Beam attack, that lorewise is said to obliterate entire universes… Don’t worry, he is not a mary sue, as he has a deep and complex story involving the other characters, 2 of which are transvestites who are half angel and half demon, and 5 of which are 11 year old lolis who wear short skirts so you can see their delicious pink pantsu^_^
