I have this wonderful black cat named Mowgli. He is only 4 years old and he’s such a sweet and playful little guy.

Something happened to him over the past month that made him really sick. He’s been unable to go to the bathroom, and he’s been making awful pained noises whenever he tries. I took him to a vet and they told me he needed emergency care. So now he’s at a pet hospital with a catheter in him, and I’m being told he may require major surgery since his urinary tract keeps re-blocking without the catheter, and his kidney enzyme levels are only going up.

I own a bunch of cats, and he’s the only male. None of my other girl cats were affected, so we didn’t suspect anything was wrong until he started taking too long in the litter box. I’m told that this most often happens to male kitties, and it might be the dry kibble we’ve been feeding him.

I’m raising money to try and soften the blow of this situation; I don’t expect to get fully funded, but anything would help at this point.

I’d really appreciate it if anyone could help.

I don’t, that’s why I would avoid making stupid assumptive statements such as those. Being depressed is no excuse for being dumb. Here is my problem with your position. I have owned many pets over the years and have to go through multiple medical issues with them. I’ve had many dogs and cats die of cancer, stomach disease, I had a cat have his entire shoulder shattered by a .22 and had to have it amputated because people back east are fucked up. I have been through this many many many times and not once have I felt it was appropriate to ask other people for money to help take care of my pets.

Oh, well good for you, I’m glad you were able to find away to still place yourself on a pedestal above me and turn this into some sort of idiotic competition. “Haha, you asked for money to help with your vet bills, I’m better than you, I win”. Go fuck yourself. You wanna talk about assuming things, you’re the one assuming that my circumstances are exactly the same as yours were. If they were I wouldn’t be doing this. My cat has a good chance of recovery and living a long and happy life if I go through with this.

Also, you don’t seem to get that I have to pay the vet even if my cat lives or dies, so I might as well try to help it live.

Your post was unmistakably prideful and arrogant. It’s good for you that you have the pride to prevent you from asking for money from strangers, but that’s hardly an argument for why anyone else should be. I don’t consider myself “above” it in any way.
