My analog A/V setup - 240p goodness

I’m holding you to that!

Someone is making a HDMI NES that outputs at 480p with its own scanline emulation. No retron garbage just a brand new video board or something. I’m a bit more into that, I’ll have to see how both of these projects pan out.

Hmm, the HDMI PPU is interesting, but not useful for a real CRT. Also I wonder if it’s even worth it to have that doing the upscaling and scanlines if you have an X-RGB mini or something like that.

I’m very interested in this new one Cap linked to though.

I just did, well the 1 or 2 games on the Non-rgb list that I find worth wild.
As I said eariler I got Jojo Bizarre Adventures Working, and I just need to test out Skies of Arcadia.
I would get more done but you know, busy whooping Dio Brando.

I just gotta keep my eyes peeled on things like price (ha, what’s value?) and how well the two function by comparison for the sake of being as future proof as possible.

Good news, I finally found a reasonably price (its a steal) Japanese D terminal Cable for the Gamecube.

And oh man, I did not think it but switching from the VGA box to a RGB Scart cable for the DC wasa good move, now I can display my DC picture with scan lines.

Where’d u get the d-terminal cable? I could never find one and ended up paying a fortune for a component cable.

I have a friend looking a for a component/d-terminal now…

Figure I can ask here, any recommendations on an RGB splitter (1 input -> 2 outputs)? I want to use my PVM and have a split-off signal for an RGB capture card. I did a little bit of poking around and I think some Extron splitters will work OK, but any info you guys have I’d appreciate.

It was the Last one, a particular seller was selling a used GC D terminal Cable on Amazon. It was $119 without shipping but I also received an Amazon gift card so that offset the cost a bit.

For those with the component cable and needed an D Terminal cable there is this adapter its approx (converted from Japanese Yen to US dollars) $15.27 plus shipping

There are other adapters in the US market easier to find, Camera stores sells a particular Canon D-Terminal to Component Video Cable ment for their HD video cameras for $40, but $40 is an ridcockulus price.
Folks at the camera store Adorama state they have one, it “should be” electronically compatible but for my needs it is grossly overpriced.

Oh I do not know if this is legit but I did saw this for the Panasonic Q (Licecese Game Cube with DVD movie support)

and this

They looked like modded Component/ D Terminal cables to me.

Finally got my hands on a Sony PVM. I really enjoy it but the size is meh. If I was in a larger town I’d snag these off Craigslist and hoard them. I can’t say I’d recommend getting them off eBay due to shipping costs. I ended up cracking it open and tweaking the internal pots.

I also picked up a 32 inch Sony Wega CRT today. I’d take it over the PVM. The picture on it is amazing - especially when set to vibrant.

I’m super jealous of you for finding that D-terminal cable. Dibs on the second one.

Wow you are kinda late on that.

I ordered that thing about a Month ago. I got it Last week.

Keep in mind you need to keep the Game Cube’s composite cables for the Audio channels

Crap. I have like 5 of the regular one, not an issue. Still call dibs on next find.

What? 5 of the Regular ones?

Are you trolling me or do you mean this

You mentioned having to use the other cable for audio I have a lot of those. None of the component cables though, wanna trade?

Stupid component cables. I went around trolling just about every used game store in the state before restoring to eBay.

Theses ?

Yes you still need those (above) for Audio when you go and use Composite cable or the D-terminal Cable, you ignore the Yellow Plug.

Trade? Trade for what?

You can get the component cables on eBay sometimes for cheaper than the D-terminal ones. I got mine there for about $100.

The component cable can be modified for RGB output. See the second post of this thread, on the first page, for more info. Look at the second to last picture. There’s a link there with directions.

And yes, whatever you use for video, you need to use the red and white analog audio outputs on the composite A/V cable as pictured above by Darksakul. Those are dirt cheap anywhere, and it’s the same composite A/V cable that also comes with SNES and N64.

DanAdamKOF was kind enough to show us this link.

a Kit for a NES RGB mod that does not require any parts from the PP10 board, it still uses the native NES PPU.

Holy s**t! Thank you so much for that link. I want to order one ASAP, but not sure how. I guess we have to wait for his website to go up? I’m afraid this thing is going to get sold out too fast.

I ordered one of the NESRGB kits that DarkSakul linked to as soon as I could. Anyhow, I installed it and finally got around to posting some pics and description. See the third post on the first page of this thread.
