This has happened a couple of times already.
Good shit to everybody I played in their respective games, next time I see you boys I’m gonna kick all over your asses in 3s, I haven’t played it seriously in the last year but that will change soon, watch the hell out! Same thing goes with Mvc2 and Cvs2 (I’m the best P-Groove player alive), when Seasons Beatings comes in October I will should be stomping on all three of those, I might get back into ST as well. I had no problems in A2 however, everyone I played I stomped a mudhole in, some characters even caught feelings and started getting emo talking about MM’s, Tha God doesn’t do MM on a regular basis with nobodies, you see my avatar, I get money, if you want some money go get you a job, I only MM top players in their respective games IF I decide to do so, yessir…

I just got word from John Choi that due to the low turnout for SBO quals at Midwest, he will be setting up a donations thread on SRK. All donations will go towards the Midwest teams until at least 50% of their plane ticket cost is paid, and then the money will be evenly distributed between those that qualify and FFA and Midwest. Please do what you can to donate.

Good shit in marvel…as usual I do terrible in tourney/MMs…but later on in the day I get consistent during casuals…bah…next year…too bad you NY guys didn’t play more (J360, Snake, Merdoc, Liston, Smoothviper)and VDO…ugh…too much rushdown, but my Anakaris finally got it together and got dat R/C/K.

OK just got back to the human oven known as phoenix.
I just want to get the bad stuff out of the way right now. That being, the lack of respect, some players have, towards tourney organizers, and other players. What I mean is, I thought it was totally ridiculous, that by the time marvel was officially supposed to begin, there were only 2 people there, signed up. Schedule has been posted for months that marvel OFFICIALLY STARTS at 11am, sunday, which also means, that we are gonna start registration before them, since we need to make the bracket BEFORE the 11pm timeslot. I think some people are so used to thinking they have preferential treatment, that they can do whatever the fuck they want, like the world revolves around them. I found it completely disrespectful towards us(the organizers), and towards the players, that get up early enough to make sure this schedule works and doesn’t cause the whole event falls behind schedule. WE(the organizers) have to get up super early, stay late, and actually put in work to make this shit works, all the players need to do is show up at the scheduled time, and play games. I was so annoyed by this. The marvel players didnt even start coming in til ATLEAST 20 minutes after bracket play was supposed to start. And some didnt even show up til almost noon! We almost cancelled the mvc2 tournament entirely. What made it funnier, is some of the players just casually walk in late, and dont even come to the table to register, they just go over to the machine and start playing…WOW…amazing…SO we said “fuck this bullshit” and charged an extra $5 for the entry for anyone that was late and it would go towards the SBO fund. Basically did this to hope teach a lesson, and to also turn a retarded situation into something a little positive(by helping fund SBO qual winners)
Don’t get me wrong, I got nothing against marvel guys personally. You guys are cool. And other people in other scenes are just as bad, no doubt. We just felt really insulted with what happened =/
as for some of the GGXX NY players that came late. I know you guys didnt like our decision to start, but we have to start ON TIME. It sucks you guys were stuck in traffic. But when travelling anywhere, traffic should ALWAYS be taken into consideration. I don’t know what your guys’ travel habits are, but it seemed like you guys probably left NY and gave yourselves jsut enough time to basically make it to the tourney on time, and if so, just sounds poorly planned. My apologies if not, and you guys did in fact get stuck on hours and hours and hours of traffic jams (which i cant see, i travel A LOT). We can’t hold a tourney up for a few people. This is the main reason why evo is reduced to 6 games, which leads to why ggxx is also not there. It all comes down to time constraints. Luckily we worked out compromises and got you guys in brackets(in losers bracket tho), by having a slot or 2 left on the bracket since it wasnt full, and due to some individuals like justin, who graciously gave his slot up. But apparently this was not good enough and we get a little bad mouthed about the decision, and on top of that, lied about the situation. the players claiming they called us to tell us they would be a little late. Which is total bullshit, since i know none of those ggxx players personally, so how would they have my cell, or dream’s? Justin, arturo, DS, or any of the the other NY players came up to us to tell us that there were players showing up late. And we always announce during every registration that if someone knows a friend that is late and if they want to pay and sign them up for them, they can. Yet no one did. I found that to be really disrespectful once again that we get called out on our decision, and then lie about the situation, trying to make us look bad.
BOTTOM LINE. I’m not having that bullshit, I don’t care where you are from, or who you are, or how far you travelled. Key players have held up countless tourneys for far too long and its rather tiring. No offense, but it’s just gotta get handled better. So I hope everyone understands my perspective, as well as Dreams.
Anyway. Other than above, the tourney went off without a hitch pretty much. Everything started and finished on time. No tourneys overlapped(big problem last year). That made the whole event a lot less stressful and manageable. and also allowed us to have a little more fun as players, instead of always being held down, doing organizer work the whole weekend.
I wil lsay, I was shocked with the lack of 3S SBO interest. I couldn’t believe that no one would enter. 4 teams? wow, it was rather embarrassing. I figured people WANTED to go to japan, but I guess not.
SBO tourneys were fun tho. I was definitely suprised when I actually took down Fubarduck(oro vs chun). It was nuts cuz I know fubar is a much better player than me. And also, if anyone watched that match, some truly WEIRD shit was happening in that match thatI never seen before(that benefited me) and happened more than once. Too bad it wasnt good enough since jose(i think thats his name) from austin, mopped me and the rest of my team up with a rock solid denjin ryu. wow, was totally impressed with that guy’s play. Congrats to gootecks, justin, and KOfiend, I hope you guys rep us well!!!
SBO ST was really wild. I felt bad for DSP and john rambo and how they lost, but I hope they understand, that theres really nothing we can do to make it fair for both teams. Other than that, that tourney was pretty wild.
ST honestly, had to be the most insteresting tourneys of the weekend, suprisingly. It also had the 2nd highest turnout, which was way suprising. Its usually the smallest. Lots of crazy shit in this tourney. I had to face NKI first round. kind of a shitty draw, but I was ready, I wanted my rematch from 2006, plus most people in the tourney, were killers. I think nki vs me just set the whole pace for what became, a truly great tournament. I still cant believe nki blocked my fb with no life, and claimed a victory on me. Truly some weird shit(which was common for me in al lthe games i played this weekend, it seemed). Other moments making this ST tourney really memorable, was the diverse cast of characters in the top spots. cammy, fei long, o.ken, blanka, gief. unheard of, and a great breath of fresh air. Damdai suprised the hell out of everyone with his gief. Great stuff! NOHOHO showed that blanka can be a monster if you know your matchups really well. Jesse Howard, just bringing his own flavor of shoto play and still able to mop fools up. And dreamTR, determined to stick with fei long the entire tournament, and dominate, even on the shitty matchups. Just shows how good that man’s skills are.
3S is becoming the new marvel, where it seems like everyone is good now.

That was the earliest that we could possibly have gotten there due to some of our schedules on friday unfortunately. it wasnt so much massive traffic jams as it was that we just couldnt get there any earlier. we didnt run into any serious bumper to bumper traffic until we actually got to Illinois.
Yea, i’d like to thank the players again who gave up their spots to myself and rudy while they were in losers. It really was a nice thing to do after we drove for so long and we really do appreciate it.
If u mean what Mynus posted on dustloop we werent trying to lie or make you guys look bad. When we got to Illinois and started to run into traffic Rudy called Cue/Simon to let them know that we would be a little late and asked them to inform you guys. we never meant that we called the directors personally so maybe there was a misunderstanding along the way or something.
At any rate, i must say good shit because things did run smooth and i understand why you guys couldnt hold up the tourney. its just unfortunate that we missed entry by a matter of minutes after driving from so far.

sorry about being late, I (and someone else) was told by our hotelmate that signup was from 11 to 12 and the tourney started at 12. I was almost going to get some food when the other guy told me the shit pretty much started already.
XAQ: im glad you understand man. Like i said, it really sucked that that had happened. No hard feelings. I know I would be upset too if I drove all that distance, to not make it in time. I wish simon/cue would have informed us and would have paid for your guys’ entries. You guys came RIGHT when first round matches were coming to a close, and would have been just in time before getting DQ’d and sent to losers. but sadly, they didnt inform us of players arriving late. Unfortunately, we do have a schedule that has to be kept.
Believe me, I definitely don’t like telling people that they basically drove all that way for nothing. I definitely don’t want to do any players wrong. gotta do what we gotta do tho. Im glad you guys atleast got an unofficial tournament going tho so it wasnt totally wasted or anything.
