Whatās the problem? You need the opinions of just certain people to be certain?
May I remind you that champions like Justin Wong and Chris G were plain wrong in the Marvel 3 early meta about tiers.
Excellent players but they are still players just like you and me, who can analyze the pros and cons of characters.
Your opinion is that Sigma doesnāt belong at the very Top. Cool.
I believe he belongs there. He can control space and pace of the match extremely well with his long range normals and traps. His damage is Marvel 3 Hulk type damage and his laser super is a light version of Arthurās Level 3 which is one if the best if not the best super with the AoE and tag situations.
Add all this and I donāt see how he isnāt anything but Top Tier. High Tier at minimum but his damage and control prowess, push him over the edge IMHO.
The running joke is he is banned from official tourneys because you never see him on stream. I think heās extremely good though. I havenāt started ranking characters yet but I could see him in the top 15
I think Thor is easily top 15 if not higher. His charged mighty strikes and air mighty sparks are very good tools that control space and allow easy hit confirms. With the right partner its easy to force someone into a very bad position with those moves alone.
I donāt need opinions from others to be certain however, it helps to have some evidence to support my argument. If Sigma is as strong as you claim people will flock towards him. People love to play top tiers. We havenāt seen this. If Sigma was some hard to play character with a high learning curve then it be understandable. He is pretty simple.
Is his damage that big? The cast seems to do around the same amount of damage no matter. Is he breaking 7k with one bar? Does he have a combo that leads to HSD? The sad truth about sigma combo vidoes is they all start with J.HP into st.HP. Some will do J.HP air dash J.HP j.HK and then be like huge Sigma damage. Or say sigma BnB and then end the combo in lvl 3. But yeah⦠If damage is normalized then the neutral is where a character needs to shine. He has big normals and specials that control a lot of space but it can be difficult controlling space with him.
The argument that people flock to Top Tiers in swarms isnāt necessarily true at all and there are plenty of examples in all FGs. (ST Dhalsim, KOF 99, 00 Jhun, SC1, 3 Astaroth, SC2, 3 Yoshimitsu, SC4 Hilde to name a few)
Popularity isnāt a reason to discard a character tools and their matchups against the cast which gives them their tier placement.
There are some things this game did with Thor that I donāt agree with. I miss being able to do Mighty Strike on the ground and Mighty Smash being his DP donāt feel right.
