MvCI Meta and Tier Discussion

Has anyone tried to sky catch people with Mind Stone? It’s start up in the air is significantly faster at 4 frames startup air born. On the ground it’s ridiculously like 20 frames.
Which begs the question, is it a catchall? Can you tiger knee that shit for a faster startup and grab someone on the ground? (Totally doubtful but worth testing)

My break down of the stones

Reality- all around good, any character can make use of it, any play style can make use of it
Power- good for those that like to anti air or try and stop pressure, storm is a great for turning any stray hit into heavy damage its the safe come back factor
Soul- In the long run probably the strongest stone in the game, come back factor as well as a full screen projectile that heals on hit.
Time- good for people who don’t like the corner or like to hang out in the sky, it has a skill come back factor that will only get crazier with time.
Space- amazing for finishing off characters (since you can’t tag) getting some breathing room and messing with your opponents spacing imo one of the strongest stones.
Mind- for those meter hungry teams, very specific…and imo the weakest stone. A slow command grab that can be setup but…very situational.

Haven’t messed with mind stone much, but it did look like the air grab had much better start and recovery than the grounded one.

The air one doesn’t grab grounded people.

Mind Air grab only works on air opponents. Don’t think I’ve caught anyone with the air grab yet.

On the ground, you could cancel an forward moving move early into stone so you can actually catch people in your block strings. Been starting to do it with Striders DF.HK. Opp in the corner, the thing almost moves half screen.

Kara-Mind grab? Might work. There’s no invulnerability on that puppy right? Kind of feel they should have retooled it
to reflect it’s Storm and have it steal super meter or something. (Heck let it go jamming bomb in effect)

I have a Jedah/RR combo where the opponent air resets following a wall bounce, and this Mind surge talk has me thinking that’s a nasty moment to sneak in a grab.

  • Soul, Time, Power
  • Reality, Space
  • Mind

Just my opinion.

Yeah I have a bunch of Coon setups that if I can get that mind grab stun will allow me to setup firebrand on some medieval shit.

Yeah yeah. No invulvernability so you can get jab out of the stone if there expecting it. But thats any grab really. The range increase seems worth it though. Do wish the ground grab was abit faster.

Also just noticed the air grab has slightly shorter range than on the ground. Don’t know if that was mentioned.

Oh it scales just fine.

However I think its the most damaging lvl 1 super in the game, does over 4k.

There’s three types of stone in this game, character modifiers, resource modifiers and environment modifiers. The character modifiers are Time and Power, they increase or enhance the ability of your character, such as increasing your speed or strength. The resource modifiers are Mind and Soul, Mind giving you meter, Soul giving you health (as well as ressurection and team duo which is busted). The environment modifiers are Reality and Space, they effect the playing field by either filling it with crap or limiting your ability to move.

Imo we have to weigh up what’s most important to achieving victory, and instantly to me Power and Time stand out. Power gives the ability to touch of death and Time gives the ability to do fast resets, both have proven to be vital traits to have in past Marvel games especially with strict damage scaling or dizzies, and the more the game goes on the more blind and complex resets are going to be.

Soul is super obviously broken, week one and we already have combos that deal damage, restore health and fill the Infinity bar (Gamora) all at the same time. This is before we even talk about ressurection of having two characters on screen at once.

I agree with Devil Jin, Mind is probably the weakest out of the bunch, its range is limited and while it does fill your hyper gauge, characters like Zero never have a problem building meter anyway and would probably benefit more from the ability to touch of death, as opposed to gaining more stocks for Sougenmu.

Reality and Space are just super situational, they have good properties but whether further down the line their storms are going to actually help open people up and kill them, that is yet to be seen.

Right now for me, Soul looks busted, and Time and Power are top tier hit confirms into shenanigans, that’s something Reality, Space and Mind can’t do.

Mind stone lowers the damage of you combo too much, I can get the same amount off a normal grab. The air version seems harder to connect and the ground version is slow. Maybe someone will put it to good use though. It does give you plenty of time to set up something after it connects.

Do you guys feel there’s a balance patch coming early next year? It’s better than SFV that released early 2016 and had to wait a whole year to see a balance patch. 3 months probably is too soon to figure things out in Marvel though, but according to what I’m reading, it seems that some projectiles are a bit unbalanced compared to others, like Gamora’s guns.
EDIT: By balance patch, I mean stuff that’s more on the overlooked side of things instead of “oooh, Dormammu is too strong, let’s nerf the Aphrodite carpet”.

You can absolutely get more damage off mindstone grabs than other command grabs, across the board.

The game has buggy left/right shit going on as well: launch, jhp xx special. Knocks down on 2p side but gets a flip out on 1p side with strider.

@“DevilJin 01” and I guess anyone else who is trying Morrigan, what are some good Morrigan BnB combos? I have trouble getting anything that can combo into a level 1 midscreen. Thanos is my locked in character right now and I am looking for someone who can compliment my little dumb gimmicks I figured out and its basically a shortlist of her, Dormammu and Ultron right now.

edit

oh flerp meant this post for the general thread but oh well deal with it here too then ya damn guys!!!

This is based on week 1 data.

My tier List Stones for week 1 at least.
Reality Stone
Soul Stone
Space Stone
Time Stone
Power Stone
Mind Stone

Reality stone will drop but for now I see it as the best for week 1.
Yea Mind Stone seems quite weak. The damage scaling is just too much.
The infinite storm isn’t that great for most characters.

My character tier list from a scrub player as myself. See how it goes when compared to a good list later. I just do it for fun for lulz.

I would be shocked if I am even half right lol. Terrible list.

You can try gamora. Her corner carry is legit. So it should lead into easy palm loops for you.

I don’t think we should rush or think about balance patches at the moment. Everyone is still learning how to play this game. Nobody knew that you could up back out of Dorm’s rose garden before scr. The game needs time to develop. Gamora’s guns are strong but it maybe necessary for them to be that strong. She doesn’t have as much mobility as Zero and can’t flood the screen like a hawkeye or arthur.

Rocket with space stone is looking much stronger than I first thought. Borderline broken. He’s definitely the best user of the surge hands down. Rocket/Haggar looks like a potential top tier team. Additionally, Hulk does not feel as bad as people have been making him out to be, but I will say he’s very similar to Nemesis in function and Nemmy seems slightly better at it.

u know ur tier list is bad but u post it anyway
