MvCI Meta and Tier Discussion

Just visually it looks like anyone with good 8 way air dash movement could just go up and snipe him. Maybe not the first random time, but abuse of it will definitely get sniped. The biggest issue is that there’s a pretty sizeable amount of frames where you can’t perform any actions after a raw port. Which means a bad port will get you tossed into a beam super or gimlet that you have to take the hit from.

With that said it’s probably not too bad as an escape option too. Especially for zoners that don’t have teleports or only have teleports that track the opponent. Teleport out of a situation where people are getting too close to you. In general though like you guys have said, using the teleport in good spots should prove to be pretty strong.

Slow fireball switches are likely to be good for it as well.

Call slow fireball, switch, port behind opponent before fireball makes contact…

Also crossup ports like port behind opponent then tag and be on the opposite side since tags come from where the character is facing not from the side they are necessarily on.

There should be some good uses for it, and yeah the surge is likely to be kinda bullshit for resets and stuff. No custom combo that I know of besides like yangs super in 3s has NOT been broken in some form when in streetfighter games.

Yang’s super was pretty OP vs some characters. Funny enough it was used vs Yun’s Genei Jin in the Yun matchup because it could out prioritize Genei Jin. It wasn’t as dominating damage wise as Genei Jin though. You could eat a Seiei Enbu and still have health. Genei Jin, not so much. Genei Jin did Seiei Enbu ish damage in Second Impact, but in 3S the damage went way up for how short the bar is.

Morrigan’s astral vision is guaranteed the most bullshit in Time Storm compared to any other storm. Hoping Jedah gets some ridiculous lockdown with the spirals and flight air normal cancels in Time Storm.

Hmmm is there a reason to handicap yourself like that? There’s a lot of info in the first post there’s even a beginners guide gor mvci by UM tyrant.

Day 1 for me will probably be strange/dorm.

I’m really looking forward to this game looks really good. I was hoping thanks would be good but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I’m more optimistic about time stone, I’m not so worried about the recovery although I’ve never played any of the floor demo builds so it might have changed since the story demo. Firstly anyone can do it three times in the air, if you have a super fast, invincible or super ridiculous move you can throw out on the first frame it will be good to cover your ass with, like Larriat or some shit. Also besides cross up shenanigans, it could work well as bait for people trying to chase down a “runaway” with the life lead, at which point you could switch and target the pursuing character with an AOE hyper or something.

The mind games are gonna be insane, this takes player conditioning to an extreme level.

For me, yes. I at first didn’t even want to touch this game when I saw the initial trailer. Hated everything. Now it has grown on me. Having said that I wanna try to see what I can do on my own with as little assistance as possible versus stalking forums like I do for most games. Just a personal challenge for this game. I don’t mind the minor things but the major stuff I wanna learn myself.

That makes sense. There’s going to be a lot of stuff that can possibly come from this game. Personally I can’t wait myself. This games development gonna be interesting.

Whoever designed Zero in this game is clearly the same guy who designed Balrog in SFV.

good only one person to track down and lynch instead of two

Good to see some old Marvel 3 posters coming back to hit the next pipe

I think the first character I’m gonna pick up and play is going to be Ultron. The first team dynamics I’m gonna experiment with is Gamora/Frank, but that’s for a different topic.

I think I’d feel right at home with Ultron as a good starting out character, he seems well rounded being able to rushdown and play the neutral, all the while having decent ability to punish from a distance. I’m gonna play him like Cable, jump back and call Drone (as opposed to Grenade) and make attempts to control the neutral and generally just annoy people controlling space with Drones.

I’d feel comfortable with the idea of him as an anchor, I feel it’s something he could do with his tools, maybe not to make the most stylish comebacks, but actually survive and maybe even time out. I think these are fundamentals we’re going to have to adjust to and he appears to be a decent character to learn those fundamentals with.

As for the stone, probably Soul. That long range whip is fast and will help greatly trying to survive a match, it’s just one more great long range tool added to Ultron’s arsenal. Plus I feel there will be added benefit to have what I’d Coin a “backing character,” a character who is safe in the background and can add space control and combo extensions during Soul Storm while the point character is rushing down.

Maybe Gamora/Ultron? I’m definitely gonna be on that Gamora she waifu status, but Ultron for me definitely seems like a safe bet for learning the fundamentals of this game.

Even though specials aren’t assists we can still call them assists, in fact we can call anything an assist now, but it will be interesting to see what moves people are exploiting to head fuck the opponent with.

Is funny that I was the only one hyped for Gamora when she was announced and now everyone and their dog wants her and is even a waifu???

Feels bad man!!!

Most of the last posts I’ve seen have been of people who don’t like her or think her voice is funny.

She looks fun to play though

I’m not sure why but, I really just want to play Ironman/Ryu. Don’t know what stone with them but, those have always been my favorite characters.

I can’t play ironman for shit in MvC2 (other than the easy ass jump infinite but even then I always screw up the air-ground Proton Cannon), his fly/unfly/refly combos were always insanely sick to watch. Never got into MvC3 but, he looks cool in that game. He looks like he plays more zoning now but, he still has fly/8way ad so he still lives in the air as he always has.

Ryu is just ryu. Plain but, you gotta respect the Shinku and invincible DP. It’s good that he can do some damage in this game and it looks like things combo into eachother really easy. In MvC2 he kind of short as limbs so you only got like 2-3 hits and then you had to shinku right away.

I’m no pro, I just always have liked those characters.

Went over this in the main thread, but apparently landing attacks or throws during the storms depletes the storm meter at a much faster rate. Meaning landing cheap shit like Morrigan bullet hell or power storm combos that do a lot of damage will probably have you running out of the storm pretty fast.

Reference with a near 100 percent combo. By the time this is all over your storm is definitely over and there’s plenty of time to counter switch inbetween during a point of the match where the opponent will likely have 2 bars. If guts scaling is in the game like it seems, it will be even tougher to kill opponents that are hit at 50/40/30 percent health left.

Counter switch baits? Or go into cinematics that can’t be CS’d would be a solution right? I really can’t imagine this game with too many one touch kills.

Mind stone seems to be the weakest for me. I’m pretty sure storm confirm will give you a hell lot of meter.

@Intuitive2011 Yeah resets would likely be the better option.

Mind has the problem of a mediocre surge with a storm that only some characters can abuse. Best uses for Mind Storm I can think of are feeding Arthur’s Gold Armor uptime, making Hawkeye a Gimlet bot, and playing Dormammu neutral with near-infinite meter. Firebrand’s helper level 3 doesn’t end an Infinity Storm, so you might be able to easily have Luminous Body + Chaos Tide up during the Mind Storm with a combo into a free level 3 at the end for huge damage.
