Help with the fly combo!
Here’s a video to help see what im doing wrong. I can’t seem to get the unfly h to hit.
Based on ur footage I think u canceled too early. Probably during a dash. It be better to show ur inputs. Shane was telling me if I was doing an S instead of unfly, most likely my flight was too late. Which was true because I was trying to squeeze an extra H. Just need a small adjustment.
Canceled what too early?
The problem here is easy to see (and hear, lol):
1-Don’t beat your stick up too much. Hitting the buttons that hard only makes your inputs less precise. Sloppier, if you will. Don’t silk tap them either.
2- You did:
:h:-adf-:h:-adf-:h:-adf-Unfly. This is incorrect. You need to unfly after hard, not after air dash. It’s:
:h: - adf - :h: - adf - :h: xx unfly > :h: >st. :h:
3- You are getting an exchange because your :qcb: input is not precise enough. If you do an :uf: (facing left) you will get an exchange, and if you start the qcb at :df: (facing left), instead of :d:, ending at :f: (facing left), you will get a sideways exchange. I had this problem too. It’s a matter of training your inputs, on the ground, by spamming disruptors.
Just an extra, that combo you’re doing is not good at all. Reason is, you will air-dash under the regular/small sized opponents. Here’s the good stuff:
:s: > j. :h: -addf- :l::h: xx Fly > :h: > (into loop)
Against Bigger and heavier characters like Sentinel, you can (and in that specific example, must) do any variation of
:s: > j. :h: -addf- :h: xx Fly > :l::h: > (into loop) , to maintain proper height.
That’s all.
Fly cancel before the H came out. U have to do it during the H. Idk thats how it looks.
How u guys get the addf H cancel into flight in the Staircase combo? How quick is the motion? I usually end up addf way too low.

Okay, I’ve decided to pick up Magneto again and actually learn his complexities, but I have a question…
Scrolling thru the topic I’ve seen people mention that many of these loops are not consistent enough to use in real matches? I know there’s a high risk of messing up many of those combos, and in a real match you can rely on assists more, so as a whole you don’t have to rely on such a high level of execution.
So taking that into consideration, plus taking the upcoming changes from UMvC in to consideration, I’m wondering which should be the highest priority to learn? I’d like to know the ones that will be best to use in a real game and where the attack patterns will be at least somewhat applicable in UMvC.
The only one not consistent is ROM, the rest are fine. Assists can’t save broken combos…so execution does matter.
Nobody knows what will be applicable in UMVC since his air dash is nerfed and his j.H pushes away further. I would suggest learning vanilla mags since the techniques (manual super jumping, plinking, tri dashing) will probably be applicable to learning umvc mags.
Learn the fly loops (H and MH) and hyper grav loop. Those are all I used in matches. Maybe blast loop or rom.
Ah, I know execution matters. It’s just that assists generally make combos far easier to do. To do a solo-combo that does 700-800k+ (depending on character) without xfactor typically takes far more execution than the same combo with an OTG assist. So learning the combo’s that do less damage than your OTG combos is typically a lower priority than learning the the OTG combos themselves. That’s all I meant.
Thanks for the advice. I’ll prioritize the fly and hyper grav loops first and then go from there.

Midscreen, yes.
In the corner you will never airdash under them.
I’m doing this now. I’m also ending the loop with a h then unfly, insteda of an h dash unfly. But I still cant get the unfly h. What’s the timing for this? Is it as fast as possible? Do i need to maintain a certain height?
The character needs to be above your knees. You cna’t do it as soon as you unfly, or you’ll get H.Hyper grav, you cant do it too alte or it wont combo. you have a long time to link it…
All i can tell you is to watch some of fanatiq and megamanDS’s videos to get used to the timing.
i got to try umvc at evo; i couldnt get rom to work midscreen and im usually solid with it in vanilla. he’s slower yeah (i couldn’t get people with tridash confusion as much). the new moves are pretty ill though. i was playing mags dorm and sent-- repulsion with drones or attraction with dark hole work really well (dorm and sent got more fun too imo). got some 10+ streaks and a shirt/poster prize lol. i’m not up to date with the umvc info about lifebars and such but it wasnt too hard killing people off; matches were super fast but maybe thats just because it was a demo/get more people to play

Ok i need alot of help… 1)for the ROM after the basic start up, sj.upback, a.H, addf, H when i super jump i can’t continue the combo i don’t know if this it timing or what but i need some help with that sooo yeah… 2) I am having some trouble with this combo… after basic start up, sj, a.H, adf, a.M, a.H, land, normal jump, a.H, adf, a.M, a.H (Repeat X3) i cant continue the combo after the second/first normal jump… I think it is because I might not be hitting H fast enough after the normal jumps or due too the fact that maybe im timing the first a.H wrong… Anyways thanks guys!!! Also im having alot of trouble picking teams… i wanna have 2 main teams. Here are some characters that I like. Magnus(obviously),wesker,dante,sentinel,dr.doom,hulk,wolvie, and akuma…THANkS!!!
- you need to hit :h: almost at the same time as you input the :u: in the super jump.
- same thing as the last one, :h: almost at the same time as :u: in you regular jump
