MvC3: You are Defeated: The Magneto Combo Thread

Is the magnetic blast loop a good B&B for online?

if so which varation is the most “lag-friendly”?

Great work!

Good stuff guys. Today i finally grasped ghetto rom somewhat consistently. It took entirely too long for my taste but it was worth it. Now to learn yoshi’s combo.

i have a question about the rom loop the way i am doing it is: sj.up H (delay) ADDFxxHxxROM loop i got it consistent that way but i see some people doing it without the delay on the 1st rep is there any difference?.. btw i can only do rom from left to right… any tips for improving from right to left?

not sure if it’s already been posted but i’ve tried messing around with a diff. HG loop other than [SJ addf j.H s.H lp HG]. [SJ adf j.M j.H s.H la HG] seems a bit easier for me, but can only get 3-4 reps of it at most. just puttin it out there. was using this online when i couldn’t time the H only loop online.

olbligatory rom questions incoming!

  1. do you guys use a piano input or just hit the buttons normally? When I superjump back H, it try to cancel it to LM~H like a tri jump, and the final H on the way down is ignored. This leads me to believe that you have to just hit the buttons fast but I’m not sure.

  2. I cant figure out the height the opponent should be. I can get the stick to nuetral and re jump fine, which is the problem most people have. My main problem is that when I rejump they are too low and I whiff. if I correct this by keeping them high, I cant get enough hitstun to let magneto get to the ground and back up in time. It’s the setup that I cant figure out. Once they are in place I just need to know if its piano or standard inputs.

If any good players read this I’m fairly sure they know where I’m coming from. I know it’s annoying to keep getting these questions but I have decent execution and I’ve put my time in and the combo just won’t work. Someone tell me the less obvious shit and what you had to condition yourself to do to make the muscle memory work. It’s that details that will help!

I’ve seen Rom and Hyper Grav loop done 2 ways:

  1. Piano L~M~H
  2. M+H, H

The piano method is the best method as it’s the most consistent and allows for the fastest air dash down forward j.H over method 2. Method 2 has a small gap in between pressing M+H then pressing H again. It’ll still work but you’ll have a greater tendency to drop both Rom and Hyper Grav loop vs the Piano method. This is from my own personal experiences with both methods for both loops.

@otter: i see that whenever a dude i have in the combo is getting too low/high (which is usually on the 4-5th rep) on the way back up I do a j.M to stabilize the balance in the air and come back down with an j.H and then do it again if their height changes.

yeah the piano method works great if you’re trying to walk the dude to the corner. thank goodness for the videos

You can actually do the ROM just fine by double tapping MH. It’s not as quick as plinking obviously, but it’s really fast, and easy on the hands. I haven’t learned the Grav loop yet, but i don’t see why it wouldn’t work for that as well. I made a little video for it. It’s in the vid thread.

I know some people have talked about grabbing characters on the way in, but what about pressure tools on the way in, Jump H into L magnetic blast works well they fall into the juggle state and it’s free combo, ROM or any flight combo.

Lil Fly/Unfly corner combo I came up with Mags (Along with Dante combo), 600,000+ Damage, Not practical, But pretty flashy. Pretty sure it doesn’t work on smaller characters, And will not work if started with the basic ground combo.

Notations:
Air S, Cr.H,S (Launch), Sj.Up/Foward Air H, Fly, L,H, Ad/FU H, Ad/FD H, Ad/UB H, Ad/FD H, Ad/U H, Unfly , L Magnetic Blast, (Land) , St.H , L Hyper Grav, Grav Loop x4.

Sweet jesus this combo is hot. I wish it could be used in more situations, shit would be my BnB

if you know when you have a dude locked down in the fly combo then it can be used more.

@Masamune: yeah it does’t work as well on the smaller characters. In fact after trying it several times on the dog, I found that the timing became a bit stricter whenever dante came in and did his thing.

Yo I just did some research in the lab and found this stuff:

When timed correctly if you have an opponent in blockstun in the corner, then input the motion for Fly (QCB-:s:) while at the same time call an otg assist and your opponent attempts to pushblock, you hit em up with a j.:s: that creates an unblockable and of course you stay in the same spot you were before the combo happened.

Or you can super jump (call the assist as your jumping), then addf j.:s:. This way works faster if you’re not in the corner (but of course this ways works in the corner as well)

Basically if you make it look like you messed up the combo and do this you essentially reset and make RX. RP=Rape Extravaganza.

These are two combos I’ve come up with, if they’ve already been posted, then my apologies. The first is a midscreen-to-corner, and the second is a corner.

I cant ROM or HyperGrav Loop, hence the Akuma help. If they aren’t posted I’ll post notations.

i’m actually liking these two combos and if you keep practicing the rom/grav loops then your team will reach maximum swag.

Truth.

Thanks for the feedback man ^.
Here’s a 3rd video, with the swagloop involved. This one takes you really far. If these are fresh to you guys and not reposts from like 10 pages ago, I’ll just leave them be. Otherwise, i’ll post notations tonight/tomorrow.

I tried to your combo just to see how much more damage I could get out of it and ended up getting a little over 1mil solo.

Notation:
:s: sjc j.:h: ADF j.:h: 896:l: -land- [ j.:m: j.:h: 896:l: -land- j.:m: j.:h: 896:l: -land- j.:m: j.:h: 896:l:] -land- s.:h:(214:l: sjc ub addf j.:h: s.:h: ~n)

I really like this. It goes corner to corner all by itself? I can’t wait to try this out.

It doesn’t go THAT far, the illusion of being in the corner is there because I had Ryu Wavedash a certain number of times out of the corner. Usually I could have him wavedash 9-10 times before the length of the combo would not have him in the corner.

Hey anyone have any ideas for what I can add to this combo midscreen before the st. :h:, :d::df::f::h:

c.:l::m::h::s:, j.:h:, ADF :h:, :l: MBlast, (land), c.:h::s:, j:h:, ADDF :h:, (land), j.:h:, ADF :m::h:, (land), st.:h:, :d::df::f::h:

After the EMD I usually Gravity Squeeze or, if I’m in the corner I’ll go into Hyper Grav Loop. I feel like I’m missing something though. I see people doing more hits using the ROM so I thought maybe I could add something somewhere. Just cant’ figure out where. Another Combo I end up using more than the one above due to easier execution (especially if I catch an assist) is:

c.:l::m::h::s:, j.:h:, ADDF :h:, j.:h:, ADF :m::h:, (land), st.:h:, :d::df::f::atk::atk::atk:

What should I be adding. Man everytime I do this combo I feel like i’m missing out on a ton of damage, although the above is in the 600,000 range I think…

EDIT - Oh and i’m still having trouble with ROM so that’s why I do the combos above.
