MvC3: You are Defeated: The Magneto Combo Thread

So which version of Magneto’s fly combos does most damage?

I learned how to do the normal non fly square jump loop a few times. I learned the j. H, ADF j.M, j. H xx fly j. H, dash H x5, lvl 3. Next I’m going to learn the up down one lol, not sure what to call it the new ROM I guess.

Is it better to do H’s only during the fly dash loops? Or is it better to do M, H, dash M, H repeat? I imagine one builds more meter? And what do you do after the reps? I only end it with lvl 3.

When you do the fly combo and it gets them to the corner, after fly h do unfly j.h s.h xx hyper grav xx magnetic tempest. From there you can do DHC glitch or just hit them with super for a lot of damage.

hahaahah yeah i think your combo is better tho… sometimes aliounes mag blast loop seems inconsistent sometimes and this is easier… is there a midscreen version to your version? or is it just my version lol

I’ve been working on that but it’s hard not to get a H hyper grav after the unfly. I try doing it slower but it doesn’t come out in time, maybe I should start my combo higher up or something.

I’ve been doing fly fierce for a while now but now I’m gonna put the time in to commit ROM to muscle memory. Yeah I’m fucking up A LOT but I figure out what I’m doing wrong and how to fix it

In the corner I do M, H adf repeat x3 then M, M, H, S wesker otg hypergrav cottonballs. Midscreen adding M’s in there seems to push them too far away to OTG with an assist if that’s what you’re doing, while straight fierce x5 lands them in the perfect spot.

Yeah unflying after a fly fierce was something I could never get. In the corner though, try that fierce hypergrav loop. That’s what I’m tackling next.

I get that same problem at times and I have no idea why. I let the stick go to neutral after the unfly and it still comes out.

I really want to say something inappropriate to this statement.

It’s kind of hard to do that when the only option to test it out on real people is the online component.

For the first combo, after the the UNFLY, I can never get that fierce to connect. Any suggestions as to why I can’t seem to get that fierce to come out / hit?

Lol, I’m sure that there’s other people who play this game in North Carolina. And what’s the point of being competitive if you soley play online?

Also, there are multiple videos on youtube where people do the combo, just watch them and stop crying.

Well for one not a whole lot of people in my area play the game and the ones that do are too busy a majority of the time

A shit ton of people post here crying about not being able to do a combo, and they ask for tutorials for easy ass combos. How can you not say nobody was crying. And why don’t you take the initiative and try to start sessions/meets so you don’t have to worry about lag online.

If its doing a hypergrav, then you are pressing H too fast after the unfly. The game is stupid because it left huge ass input windows for moves so it is using your unfly as QCB H and gives you a hypergrav as well. So just wait a split second before you press H.

If you are landing before your H hits them, you are doing it too slow. Press H faster after the unfly.

oh stop using “you people” lol. I go there already. i know some of the people in this thread and the other one whine a lot about not being able to sj in the rom combo.

another thing; about the sessions, some of us already do that. for instance me and some friends are gathering tomorrow somewhere before a tournament this weekend.

also if you makes you any happier (lol?) i’m starting to get the hang of the ROM combo with super jumping. it’s all about the timing.

My two cents: if they are having problems with the unfly combo, specifically the unfly then j.H; go back to Mag’s Mission # 9 (The gravity squeeze combo). Notice the part where it asks you to do:

Basically just do what MegamanDS said and wait a quick second before inputting Standing H after Air H and THEN do the input for Hyper Grav L.

You’ll get better doing that one specific combo in mission mode because it’s the precursor to the ROM combo.

Mag Rom Loop - Questions

Alright guys, I’m having a lot of problems attempting to do this loop and I was wondering if I can get some advice.

First, this is the notation I’m using:

c.h, S, sj.h, add, sj.h, [sj.h, addf, sj.h] x 3, s.h, hypergrav xx tempest.

After the second sj.h, I superjump toss out my heavy, and it whiffs. I’ve tried every which way to get this to connect. I’ve tried super jumping back, then airdashing downforward, I’ve tried super jumping up forward, then air dashing downforward, I’ve tried waiting a little before pressing the first sj.h to give my Mag more height, but no matter what, I can’t get this to connect. I don’t know if my fingers are still used to MvC2 rom timing or if I’m just missing something here.

I can do his fly loops like the back of my hand but for some reason this one escapes me.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

There has been so much discussion about this topic in the stickies I see no reason why this thread needed to be made.

The fact of the matter is, there is nothing you can do but sit in training mode for hours on in, day in, day out and practice it.

Eventually you’ll get it down, it probably won’t be tomorrow, or even next week.

Took me about a month of practice and I finally have it down.

The best advice I can give you is to come down to Denjin Arcade for one of our tournaments and I can show you my hands and critique what you’re doing wrong.

But the fact of the matter is- its an execution heavy combo that you have to practice a LOT. took me about 6 months to learn El Fuerte’s BNB, took me a few years to get Yun’s down in 3s and it took me a month or so to learn Magneto’s.

My advice is - Stop reading forums, Stop posting. Just shut up and stay in danger room until you have the combo down.

I’ve already attempted to sift through the stickies and forgive me for not wanting to read hundreds of pages for an answer. Believe me, I’m the first person who would suggest using the search function. I’m a lurker, it takes a lot for me to make a thread/reply. I specically read and don’t bother to post unless I need a more direct answer (take a look at my join date vs. posts, I’m sure you’ll understand what I mean).

You’re preaching to the choire, I understand the dedication and required execution to perform combos, I just don’t get why I can’t follow up after my 2nd heavy. This was aimed at people that have been through the same experience I have not to recieve a lecture on how SRK posts/stickies, and “more training required” babble- no disrespect.

Launch them, SJ, wait at least until their head starts to hit the health bars, the do J.C (wait VERY little, meaning the lowest possible time without instantly hitting ADDF) then ADDF (wait a little bit) then J.C, [SJB C ADDF C] <-- repeat as fast as possible
