MvC3: With great power comes great dexterity: combos and set ups

The timing between the two setups (s:m: s:h: xx and s:h: xx) is slightly different but visually if you look at it you can see the timing. web swing has multiple angles after the initial hit so if you time your three piece fairly late in the swing Spidey will still be close to the opponent for web ball to hit. Give it a slight delay since its a short combo web ball will hold for a second then activate. UWT will catch them at close to max range.

What was odd when I played my roomate today was i did the UWT mid screen and it looked to fail, but it surprisingly hit. i was unprepared for it so i had no follow up haha.

Was gonna wait till I drop my team combo to showcase this video but since I have a variant of the combo in the video I think it’s safe to say that Spidey has a solo combo that hits for over a million starting from midscreen. About to upload the video shortly so check the video thread. I have to note right now that it works on all the iffy characters like Captain America, Taskmaster,She-Hulk, etc as well and it’s relatively easy to connect.

Notation for the video in the other thread:

c:l: c:m: c:h: xx :l: web swing j:m: j:m: j:h: (all done late in the web swing) dash under (big window still) s:m: s:h: xx :m: web throw (no auto correct very easy to see) dash in s:h: xx web zip j:h: j:s: :s: xx :h: web throw s:h:xx :h: spider sting/bite c:h: :s: xx :h: web throw TK MS

For characters with the awkward hitbox substitute :h: spider sting/bite with :l: spider sting/bite into an immediate :l: web throw TK MS

I went into training mode to do the combo xero just listed above me, but I figured it would be impossible for my hands to perform during a match. Here’s the wimpy version for those of you who want the flashiness of the under dash, but only have the execution skills of a mortal.

facing corner - Opponent’s back about 1 screen away from the wall
c:l: c:m: c:h: xx :l: web swing (slight delay) j:m: j:m: j:h: (Dash under) s:l: s:m: s:h: xx :m:web throw (dash if needed) s:h:xx :h: spider sting/bite :s: xx :h: web throw TK MS

It does lowish 800,000’s this way. All you’re doing is adding a Light after the Dash and skipping the web zip part. I think I can actually pull this one off in a fight though.

Video proof of my earlier combo, just to cover all bases:

I have to transition from 360 controller to stick to play at Arcade UFO. Spiderman is giving me trouble :frowning:

I encountered something weird while messing around with Hidden Missiles. Starting in the corner, web throw somebody, then immediately call Doom, and the second missile will hit OTG as it’s leaving the ground, so you can web throw them out, and then back in when the other missiles come down. For most characters I can do this consistently, but with Zero I can only do it in the right corner. No matter what set-up I use, I cannot get that missile to OTG Zero in the left corner. It just seems so strange to me, I can’t see any visible difference, but the missile just whiffs in the left corner.

jump over them then call doom.

but you’re probably better off just launching while calling doom.

doom otg’ing is somewhat useful if you somehow ended up in a launch combo. do like jMMH web zip down forward S, jump over the opponent and call doom, web throw as a missile otg’s.

Doom will only otg like that off of a wall bounce he won’t otg after a launch combo unless called before the air combo

Zro was here…

pretty sure he can otg after a launch combo

if not though, then definitely after spider sting/bite

I haven’t tried off spider sting/bite. The way the opponent falls after a wall bounce, well I should say hard knock down like the one caused off web throw to be clearer, but the opponents legs come down on top of the second missile causing the missile to hit. I could picture this happening with a ground bounce also making it easier to grab the opponent. The way the opponent lands after an air combo is more grounded like and doesn’t let the second missile to hit upwards. I’ll be honest I haven’t tested this after an air combo using web zip in it to land faster but I will check at lunch to be sure but the results should be the same.

Ninja edit: Just tested it out and the results are the same. Missiles would not OTG upwards from an air combo with or without web zip nor did they OTG after spider sting/bite. They did still OTG after the hard knock down from web throw due to the funky way the opponent lands.

anyone have any ideas on crawler assault with doom missles to connect a web throw? just tossing ideas.

Yeah I tried that too  CA has too much recovery. The missiles hit in the middle of CA messing up the height while getting hit

Zro was here…

what confirms off of akuma tatsu assist are there? assume i am also using doom missiles.

I would assume you could dash in with s:m: but or j:h: depending on how you hit them. As for mid combo I’m not sure. I would think it would be about the same depending on when you called him

midscreen I don’t get anything better than s :l:, s :m:, s :h: xx spider sting ~ follow up

sometimes you’re too far to dash and hit with s :m: or the other character is too small, and by hit confirming with s :l: that puts them kinda too high for anything else especially after the tatsu knockdown.

if you’re close enough to the corner or the opponent you can get a s :m: (optional), s :h: xx web zip, j :h:, j :s: into the usual stuff

it doesn’t really mess with hitstun scaling but it still messes with combos just by knocking the opponent down and away from you. I haven’t tried spidey/akuma all that much outside of training mode, but at the moment I wouldn’t call them more than acquaintances

God, I just want UMVC3 to release already so I can head into the lab with Spidey.

I have developed a new Spidey/X-23 combo that enhances the previous one from before. Here’s the vid:

Apologies for the crappy quality, using a camera is my only way to record these currently. All the information regarding the combo is in the annotations and description.

how the hell did you get that name?
