Well I think Keits said during that new podcast he can’t combo into Hypergravy by himself. (I think, I’ll have to listen to that again)
Is the slide still super-jump cancellable? Maybe slide into Super jump then tridash down hith with two j.B or l.A then call Storm then chain 2 s.light attacks while Storm’s typhoon comes then just cancel that 2nd light attack with Hyper Grav into Tempest. Should combo is Storm assist hits but no idea how Mags is gonna combo that by himself.
Might be better doing that with Chun’s lightning legs since it juggles too. I don’t know how fast typhoon assist is, but the regular version is very slow, so I wouldn’t put faith into that assist.
Edit: Also, I’m not sure if we know if the slide is super jump cancelable. Does anyone know if Magneto has a jump cancelable move? If so, what is it?

What they’ve done to Magneto is not even fair. Its like they take 2 steps forward in recognizing that he changed the way Marvel was played in a good way, by giving him the Mahvel Baybee costume and having Deadpool mention Yipes quotes…and then take 2 steps backwards by obliterating him with the nerf hammer. Hopefully his and Storm’s triangle dash is FIXED so that its like Iron man’s and their MvC2 counterparts.
I also don’t like the fact that he can’t combo into Hypergrav without an assist. That in itself is retarded. Thats like making Ryu and Akuma unable to combo into fireballs or hurricane kicks. Its a basic Magneto combo that allows him to be a decent threat even when he doesn’t have an assist. It wouldn’t have been so bad if Magneto could’ve done it a different way. Such as…launch > magic series> E knockdown> dash> OTG sliding kick> Hypergrav and so on.
I know this is complaining, and I probably shouldn’t be doing so before really getting to touch the game. But, these things bother me as I think they hurt Magneto’s full potential to be an awesome character to play as. I already knew he was going to be nerfed, but this extent is ridiculous. Take away his Roms, yes, that makes sense…but don’t take away basic Magneto setups. I honestly don’t know why Seth wouldn’t at least fight to make sure basic Magneto was safe. Knowing how he basically was Marvel last game…you would think that he’d understand the importance of getting the small stuff right.

You can’t forget the other changes he’s gotten that are improvements, better zoning, OTG shockwave, etc. The nerfs do suck, but it’s not like he’s suddenly useless now.

Sure he lost grav tempest, but his tridash is fucking fine. In fact with xfactor it’s faster than it was before. >_> (storm too)

What improvements the shockwave could always OTG, as far as zoning he didnt improve, and the em disruptor is just as fast in mvc2. The character got nothing but nerfs from what im seeing. Also as far as being able to cancel stand fierce you could do that in the other game by super jump cancelling it if im not mistaking it.
I know that, I meant the system mechanics make it a more reliable OTG. His EM disruptor definitely seems better though.

His Tridash isn’t fine dude. Its atrocious. He can’t even land a instant overhead, something that Ironman and even Viper can do in this very game. He has to wait all the way to the peak of his jump before he can come down with an attack…otherwise he comes down too fast and it ends up being a low attack.
And before you say, “Well that leads to mind games as you can decide whether you want to fake and go low or commit to a high.” You can do the same exact thing in MvC2 by cancelling the tridash jump with a HK or HP and then going low. And its faster and more effective than it ever could be in MvC3.
Also, Magneto’s normals got nerfed and his dash is nerfed as well. Its like they added a extra few seconds which makes the dash seem clumsy and awkward. The normals nerf was mentioned in a vid, and the Dash nerf can be seen visually in any vid.
And to Quick, no I didn’t think they were going to just stop with the Rom. I knew it was going to be more than that…but taking away some of his basic combos is a bit too far. Thats the extent that I’m talking about. Making it so that he can’t combo into Hypergrav at all without an assist. Thats a bit too much of a neuter.

I already said the ability to combo into Hypergrav without an assist. This is basic Magneto period… In all the vs. games he’s been in he has had this ability. Everything else might’ve changed but this stays consistant.
DemonDash…has anybody tried that? More than likely its gone because they simplified the controls even further than MvC2 already was.

Magneto is fine. I swear once people get in practice mode Mags will be just as beast. I already know a couple ways to make Magneto deadly.
His throw mix ups will still be pringles.
Throw into Corner -> Magnetic Tempest -> KFC -> Jam Session -> Hyper Grav - Launch into magic series or option select into throw reset again.
Without an assist…Landing a Hyper Grav into Tempest will probably only be possible with KFC. I can imagine the damage will be sick if he’s the last one left.
Heck he could probably just throw you and instantly do his level 3 unchallenged. If thats not dangerous I dunno what is.

It’s obvious that Magneto will get hit with the nerf bat. Everytime i hear something about him, it is always “he can’t do this anymore.” But taking away his tri-jump and his ability to combo in a super on his own? That’s fucking stupid. You see what happens when Capcom listens to scrubs.
The Magneto frustration is justified imo. I really don’t see the sense in stripping Magneto of his stuff is they are just gonna hand them over to other characters anyways.

Yeah, you could cancel his triangle jump really quick with a HP or HK. You could do this with some other trijump characters too in mvc2. I didn’t know that you had to wait until the very peak of his jump in order to get an overhead out until I saw the video today. I really hope this doesn’t hurt his mixup.
Not being able to combo into hyper grav into tempest on his own does hurt though, and in the corner it looks like you’ll be going for resets and using your assists to get damage in it since magnetic shockwave seems no good in the corner.
Edit: Mags could superjump cancel his sweep and his fierce on hit in mvc2 iirc. Chun isn’t the only one with jump cancelable moves on block in mvc3. Also, she doesn’t have an 8 way air dash.
