Yeah it’s rough for the whole team if I’m not in that ass from the very beginning. This guy probably has one of the best, if not the only, Ghost Riders on the East Coast On other characters, Vergil should be fine, but I wasn’t playing the neutral right anyhow. Senpu Bu could have helped if I got him in blockstun first. Dash up cr.L + Senpu, cr.M xx teleport is almost a pure 50/50. They can smack Hsien-ko if she isn’t gold, but if they do that and don’t hit Vergil, that’s a dead character (potentially. Also Gold Armor).
I was not aware of that with Gold Armor. I’ll have to see what I can do in that situation in Training Mode when I get home today.
That’s unfortunate. Poor Hsien-Ko got so gimped. I wish Chireitou would pickup both characters. But I’ll keep that in mind. Tenraiha does some really nice damage and the Ground Bounce can let me pick up after with another super.
Yeah I’ve been exploring that, and there is definitely potential for a Sword Loop. I haven’t quite figured it out just yet because the timing is wonky for when Vergil can move after a Raw Tag. So far I’ve only tested it from a DHC from Dimension Slash, so they’ve been bouncing a bit higher off Hsien-ko’s swords than usual. I should also be able to DHC into Sword Belt and just TP over, which is fine because I’d be using a bar for Gucchi Belt anyway. Hsien-ko should be able to do this on point as well no problem. And if they need to be launched before hand, she should be able to do 2C, 6C xx Chireitou then either DHC or Raw Tag.
This seems screen specific, but Doom can (hilariously) Raw tag after Chireitou and then connect with a Full Screen Foot Dive into a combo.
Weird, I was just coming in to ask about Vergil/Hsien/Doom. Seems like a good troll team (to give you an idea of what I mean by that, I was most recently screwing around with Magneto/PW/Sentinel).
As far as Chireitou -> Vergil, you can probably DHC into Devil Trigger the second it OTG’s, then H teleport towards the end and go into a combo. Kinda expensive but I’m positive it’ll work. Wish I was in the country to test some of this stuff out!
I’ve been thinking about playing Lei-Lei but I don’t know anything about how to properly build a team with her in it/placement. Do you have any tips? I didn’t see a team building thread for her so I figured I’d post here.
The basic team structure for her is to put someone who benefits offensively from her assist on point, Hsien in the middle, then someone with a lockdown assist (preferably Ammy) in the back. I strongly think that she’s one of those characters who has to be 2nd (poor neutral game, not a good anchor).
I think the best point characters for her are ones who have strong left/right crossup potential that is perhaps unsafe, especially when taking pushblock into account. Throw gold Pendulum in there and suddenly your opponent can’t press buttons on your mixups, and you get a crazy amount of mixup time thanks to the lockdown. Some examples: Dante, Magneto, Felicia, X-23, Captain America, Frank (with whom she has a nice level-up setup as well), and more.
As for the lockdown assist, I feel like Ammy is the Akuma to her Wolverine (lol) but Cold Star may be redundant for your point character (two lockdown assists). Consider Hidden Missiles or Sent Drones. Experiment a little and see what works for the rest of the team. If you want some advice post some characters you were thinking of here.
Anyone ever mess around with Firebrand and Hsien-ko? Thinking that senpu bu might be usable to set up the unblockable and is just a great overall assist. Also makes Firebrand seem more honest by pairing him with one of the worst characters if he fails his shenanigans. Any thoughts on a 3rd?
Dang, I can’t help you out with Tron (or Strange) but I used to run Hulk/Hsien-Ko/Dormammu. Gold Pendulum is great for Dormammu with his teleports and also against other teleporting characters who try to get in on him while he’s building spells. That said, I don’t think he’s a good point character unless he has something like Plasma Beam or Tatsu behind him.
With that group of characters, you could get Tron/Hsien-ko/Strange to work. Strange Bolts will work better to help Tron get in on an opponent or play a ranged game compared to Dorm’s Dark Hole, and with some timing, it can get you a beacon bomb after magic series and whatnot. Hsien-ko Pendulum is an easy beacon bomb for Tron as well.
And with Tron and Hsien-ko, there’s a fun DHC sequence I do. After landing a Lunchtime special, you can immediately DHC into Gold Armor, raw tag back to Tron and get a s.H to either light or medium beacon bomb. From there, you can use meter if you have some of go for a reset. I’m not entirely sure if you could get Strange Palm loops after a raw tag, but it’s worth a shot.
Hey guys. Super pro tip. When in gold armour, if Vergil is pressing HSHSHSHSHSHS in X-factor, you should block and pushblock. I didn’t, and there was so much hitstun I just died and couldn’t move. @_@ I’m sure this goes for other moves too, but HSHSHSHS goes forever so yeah.
It was a pretty funny moment when me and the guy I was facing saw it though.
This is quite old…like day 1 of MvC3 but still the issue with Lei Lei is that she have such a poor neutral game which mean she is like an Heavy Armor attachment for your Point Character making it a 2v3 situation against top tier team.I tried to getting her into my main team who consisted of C.Viper/Dante/Vergil at first and the only time I would get to really abused her was when I played Vergil on Point and DHC into Hsien-ko and Hard Tag Vergil back which isn’t so bad…but if I was to lose Vergil I would lose 2 character and put heavy pressure on my Anchor.
Also Hsien-Ko could be a viable sentinel like Character because she have a Super Loop (Not sure of the name but this should be common knowledge) but it still require a corner and 3-4 meter to kill Thor-like character and her poor neutral game make it hard to even get into a combo not to speak about her forward ‘‘dash’’ that even if you ‘‘crouch’’ cancel it or cancel it into a neutral attack feel super slow. Also I hate it that her projectile are super random and that even if you get the stun out of the projectile you can’t even hit confirm from a long distance because you can’t wave dash.
…
I decide to learn her and master her aka really become the best Hsien-Ko player because I am tired of playing top tier team like Zero/C.Viper/Vergil or C.Viper/Dante/Vergil. It’s not a new year resolution its more like trying to make UMVC3 some what harder and give me more Fun for the money I spend on it (only 45$ but still ahah you get the point.)
So even if I feel like she aint such a good character I’ll come here often and try to steal and give tech and together I am sure we can make her Top in Evo 2013…maybe lol.
I would love to know who are the best Lei Lei player out there to quickly improve my plays (Clearly taking what they already found with her) and I want to know Pros and Cons about her because I might only be a little bit biased ahah!
Just to clear out things I ain’t a douche bag that want to steal the merit of anyone and I won’t be the one topping with her at evo 2013 because I don’t have the money to take the planes to Vegas , In every game I currently play I took underated/bad character and try to make them better for personal satisfaction.
Heh. I figured it’d probably be old news since similar stuff has happened to me before. I just never usually die from it but take massive damage if it does happen.
Lei Lei is cool character. I’d say she’s got a relatively okay on coming mixup since you can senpu bu behind the opponent in the corner, go for teleport mixups and whatever. I haven’t been following Marvel much, but LLND might still be best Lei Lei? She’s got TAC infinite that’s relatively viable. Her Vsav unblockable setup (i.e. 236H item throw) still exists in Marvel, and assists make it more viable (i.e., Make em block some long-blockstun attack, toss item, go for crouching attack for unblockable).
Still trying to find a way to utilize her backwards wavedash, which is pretty decent. I dunno if you could play her as a zoning character.
‘‘Plink’’ stand for canceling the Teleport/fdash into a crouch/atk?
if yes then I already mention it ^^.
She is actually suppose to be a zoning character but she get out zoned by half the cast…at the moment. If only we could find a way to predict the projectile…maybe it work like Deadpool teleport, after X trow you get a stun…but then again I already got 3 Stun in a row…
Also TAC infinite look like super viable I need to get my hand on it, thanx.
The plink dash is when you press a button after a dash (most easily S since S isn’t part of the dashing buttons (I don’t actually know the reason :P)), and you plink it into another dash. That way, your dash gets cancelled into an attack and almost immediately into another dash rather than dash -> crouch -> dash again.

so you can see how it looks different from the crouch dash.
Nope, i Meant “plink” as in get to the other side of the screen just as fast as many of the wavedash of the whole cast and do a 50/50 once you r close to your opponent. I suggest master this technique by watching the video above, hsien ko´s strength lies in here because of how easy is to open up people if they r locked down. It will greatly increase your neutral game
although i have to say i for me personally its a bit hard by doing it with :S: but thats just me because its supposed to be easier, and llnd does it that way and he knows better than me lol
Oww. I see. I wasn’t doing it correctly thats might be why I didn’t really understand why ‘‘Plink’’ was so much better than normal teleport.
Edit: I also started watching some of LLND games and it seem like he is carrying Hsien Ko using his super good Chris.Hsien Ko is what Storm is for magneto but for Chris.Watched a game against Fanatiq and he didn’t get to even play Hsien Ko , now It might be because of Fanatiq team comp because he did well with her agaisnt Infrit…and even then without more than 2 meter and a corner she can’t really deal that much damage and her TAC infinite even if it aint so hard compare to Doom ‘‘Swag’’ combo it still seem to deal little to no damage.
I would love if you (LLND) explain me why you play Hsien Ko since you would clearly be able to play a good Vergil/Wesker/Zero.What makes her so good for you, because analysing your game made her look like your major weak point.
I’m not sure if you’re trolling, but I think LLND plays Hsien-Ko because he likes the character.
Trying to make her “top” is pretty much moot, but if you check some of the posts above people are trying to find the optimal team for her. I still think it’s going to be Vergil/Hsien/Doom.
Yeh sure he love her but he compete at high level and seeing how he can actually go against top player (Including Infrit and Fanatiq just to name some) theres more than just love for the character.
I think a way to build a proper team around Hsien Ko would require us to play with DHC+ Hard Tag back.At the moment I see this : Point with Self OTG into super/Hsien Ko/Lock Down Assist
Something else that could work would be to play Vergil as an Anchor to support Hsien Ko with Rapid Slash, this way you will be able to easily push back your opponent and zone him out easily…but then again I might be super wrong but I always abuse Rapid Slash in keep away team so it might also work for her…
I dunno dude, I wouldn’t look into it that much. Look at RayRay: he’s admitted that Ryu is far from being the optimal point character, but he likes him, so he plays him. This gimps him in certain matchups and just lowers his odds in general, and you frequently see Magneto and Sentinel doing the heavy lifting. That said, he’s the best Ryu player there is.
It’s the same with LLND. Best Hsien-Ko there is hands down, doesn’t mean the character is good or that he picks her because she’s good. I’m not going to go on without letting the dude speak for himself.
That said you have the right idea on team building (again, read above). DHCing into Rimoukon’s not really rocket science, basically everyone can do it the same, it’s just better to have someone with a combo-finishing super that pushes the opponent to the other side of the screen. The assist itself is best for characters that have strong mixups that people can normally press buttons on. This tricks them into swinging at the golden armor and getting hit for it.
