MvC3: Two Girls one Corpse: The Hsien-Ko Thread!

You’ll know she’s intentionally Dan tier when they cut the active frames on her taunt and make it special cancellable. Which they need to do already for V.Joe. Guy has more taunts than anyone in the game, including Deadpool.

How does the gold armor work? How much armor does it have, can you grab her out of it, what the hell do you do about an armored assist other than snap her in and try to keep her there until it runs out?

Just want to say thread title win.

The only one for any charater on any game which does not reek of nerd…Red panty addicts anyone? LOL.

So I’m learning Hsien-Ko at the moment. Because she’s surprisingly awesome. Bad, but awesome.
I want to run her on point, but a friend of mine who plays Hsien-Ko advised against it and said she works better second to make up for her lolmetergain problem.

So I’m trying to come up with a Hsien-Ko team with a good battery for building meter, and a lockdown assist that works with the point character and with Hsien-Ko.
So I’m thinking:
Dante(Any Assist)/Hsien-Ko(Gong Assist)/Doom(Missiles)
or
Vergil(Rapid Slash)/Hsien-ko(Gong Assist)/Doom(Missiles)

Can’t ever go wrong with the brothers right? The plan is to build meter with the point character, DHC into Gold Armor, raw tag back into the point character, and go nuts with Gold Armor Gong/Missiles/Teleports lol

^ Hmm…if you can make Gong work overall, more power to you, but if you plan to use it in an anti-zoning manner, you’ll need to be privy with the timing, otherwise she’ll just get hit. But when she’s gold, I hear the gong still comes out even if she’s hit. The Senpu Bu assist would probably work better as both a combo extender and a get-off-me if you get her gold.

Well I’m only speculating at the moment, since I’m at work and don’t have access to the game right now. But I’m thinking I might be able to get a guaranteed Gold Armor with Vergil:
Do any Vergil combo into High Time xx Maximum Vergil, DHC into Gold Armor when the opponent is as high as possible, Raw Tag back into Vergil.
I’ll be testing it when I get home.

The only reason I’m using Gong assist is because I read that Gong assist is like the old vanilla Tron assist. It’s safer to call when she isn’t gold, and she isn’t out as long as Pendulum so she’ll take less damage overall from some kind of punish. I don’t need combo extension because A) It’s Vergil B) I have Doom Missiles for that (Which should let Vergil build stupid amounts of meter for DHC’s into Hsien-Ko).

And depending on how much meter I can actually build/have, I should be able to DHC all the way into Doom.
Not to mention I think that Hsien-Ko/Vergil have good DHC synergy in either order.

Again I’m just theory fighting at the moment. I’ll be testing all this once I get home.

EDIT:

So I got home and tested this out. The DHC from Maximum Vergil to Gold Armor to Raw Tag back in, is completely safe. And if you DHC at a specific time, and they hit a bubble on the way down, then Vergil can OTG when he comes back in for another super.

And the DHC from Maximum Vergil to Tenrai-Ha (or however thats spelled) works, and lets you Loop after.

^ Ya, I was thinking the same thing about how she recovers quicker with gong assist.

Another thing you can try is DHC from Maximum Vergil to the blade super (QCF+2atks), raw tag to Vergil and possibly figure out some different follow ups from there.

I’ll be trying both Gong and Pendulum assist to see which one works better. Since gong moves kinda slow…
Also Pendulum assist might let me follow up from High Time. Which would be nice. Still needs testing.

So far the DHC to swords seems best since I can do Raw Tag shenanigans with Vergil and Spiral Swords.
Midscreen, I think it’s a way more damaging option then looping Tenrai-Ha’s.

So uh… Just how dead are these forums?
They seem pretty dead… Which is funny actually, considering the character…

Gold armour gives Hsien Ko a short period of hyper armour. I don’t know the exact time she has it, but for the entire duration, Hsien Ko will still take normal damage from all attacks and supers, but she will not budge or flinch.
She can be grabbed when in gold armour, if a character can combo off their throw then they will be able to combo Hsien Ko as normal.
For dealing with armoured Hsien Ko assists, she still has the same properties as before. Character with beam or long range supers should be able to take her out while she’s called out for an assist.

The thing that I don’t particularly enjoy with Gong assist is that it doesn’t last all that long either. Maybe enough to at least protect Hsien-ko from projectiles before she heads out, but Senpu Bu just works wonders for my team overall. Combo extension, near full screen Beacon Bomb confirms, and an invincible crossover counter if she’s gold.

And yeah…barely managing to keep it alive I suppose, but so long as people are playing and are interested in playing the corpse girl, that’s all that matters I guess.

Yeah after messing with both assists, Pendulum is definitely the way to go. The little pause she does before she actually starts the move is perfect for teleport mixups with Vergil. It’s almost a pure 50/50 guessing game for the opponent. Right now I’m just trying to find the timing to pick up with Pendulum after Vergil’s High Time. It /seems/ possible, but really tight.

And later today, I’ll finally be able to test this team out against actual opponents, so I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes.
Hsien-Ko spamming gongs in the corner while covered by Doom missiles feels like it’s going to be a pain for the opponent to get in on.

^ Just be mindful of those with beam hypers.

Gongs and her item toss can lead to great fun.

Well the plan is to only use the assist when I’m within mixup range and in “get off me” situations.
So hopefully even if they do get a super out, they’ll get smacked out of it before Hsien-Ko takes too much damage.

True, those handy missiles. Oddly enough, I was watching a stream a few days ago, and a commentator was saying that Hsien-ko should be played lame. Even if that were the case, her lame game isn’t all that hard to deal with.

Whoops, curse you computer. Let us know of your success (hopefully).

Alright. So. This team is golden as long as Vergil can get started. The mixups with Hsien-Ko are good and Vergil can confirm off of her assist very easily. Not to mention just letting Hsien-ko come out against random, point blank supers is fun (even though the damage to her isn’t really worth it :T).

However, if Vergil dies, then the team starts to fall apart. Beam hypers and that /stupid/ Dr. Strange super destroy any kind of Gong zoning that Hsien-ko can try. And Hsien-ko can’t catch lame characters unless they have to block missiles.

And unfortunately for me, the only guy I played all night is a really good player that always plays lame teams lol. Ghost Rider + Missiles + Dark Hole makes it a pain for Vergil to start anything or call assists. But like I said, once Vergil got going, I was usually able to squeeze out a (rare) win.Hopefully I can try it out against some more rushdown oriented teams later.

In conclusion:
The team is a bit (lot) gimmicky, because it starts to fall apart when Vergil dies, and Vergil can’t really call Hsien-Ko unless she’s gold (or they’re already in blockstun). And poor Hsien-Ko can’t do much depending on the opponents characters when she is coming in. But with a really solid Vergil + solid play in general, the team should still theoretically do well against higher tiered teams, since they can’t push buttons against Gold Armor assist.

I plan to keep playing this team in casuals and getting used to it. It’s weird playing Vergil without some kind of horizontal assist and I don’t play Doom at all, but it’s definitely fun enough that I don’t want to drop it.

These were streamed matches as well, so I’ll post the stream links later if:
A) The stream didn’t look like shit the whole time (most likely)
B) My matches weren’t all incredibly embarrassing (they were)

So yeah. Stream links when I get home. That way I can get some advice on my terribad Hsien-Ko :frowning:

STREAM ARCHIVES:

(be warned, our stream is pretty fucking terrible :c)

Just watch from 44:00 - 1:12:00-ish if you want to see the team in action (and me getting bopped).
That was my first time actually taking Hsien-ko into battle (Doom too), so any pointers would be appreciated.

Double posting but whatevs.

I don’t think that was too bad a showing for the first time for either character. It seemed you were able to get Gold Armor pretty often, but I think you should also work on Hsien-ko as a point more. While you were trapped in the corner with her incoming, it may not be a bad idea to just super jump and use her swing and air dash to either escape or land a hit on the way down. Also, make use of her crazy normals. Standing M and Standing H both have remarkable range, and I did see you use f. H a few times which may have caught your opponent off-guard. When you were having your full screen battles with gong and missile assist, you probably don’t need to have too many gongs out at once. One heavy gong last for a while, so maybe a L Anki Hou every now and then would help. Or you could use the gong as something of a shield to start getting in on the opponent. Once you had Gold Armor, you had some nice setups with Vergil, so the first thing I would say is practice a little more with Hsien-ko by herself and work on her movement.

Yeah that’s a problem I usually have when learning new characters: Utilizing all of their moves. Snepu Bu probably would have helped greatly when trying to chase down the runaway. But man… Tri-Dash backward is too strong for Hsien-ko :frowning: Needs more Anki Hou.

I can actually Plink Dash with her fairly well. It was just one of those nights where nothing was coming out right at all lol.
Thanks for the tips though. We won’t have our Venue for the next two weeks, but the Xanadu Monthly in Baltimore MD is this weekend, so if I can make it there, I should be able to get some more stream time to link up here.

Time to grind out the dead girl all week.

It might’ve been rough for hsien-ko because both dorm and especially ghost rider are her worst match ups. There’s no point in gongs or senpu bu when he can whip you out of those. Missiles are always bad news too, but she can handle doom himself quite well. It looked like Vergil had a hard time starting his neutral, but that’s because missiles take time to set up and ghost rider is very good at sniping assists. Not sure if senpu bu would help there because even that has a bit of start up.

Be aware while your being attacked in armor(doom missiles), hit stop will occur and the game won’t take any of your button inputs. You can try to avoid this by rapid fire L’s until missiles are gone. Or if you have already have them in a LMH string, you can buffer into specials or, preferably, tenraiha.

In happy birthday situations some foes can, most of the time, be pushed out of your combo, so it might help to keep it simple with LMHcr.H>Tenraiha. You can infinitely ground bounce the assist with tenraiha while the point character can tech out of it. However, tenraiha xfc into another tenraiha will have the spiked balls prevent the ground bounce from happening on the point character and still do damage to both characters.

BTW, have you found anything after Chireitou>raw tag into Vergil yet? I feel like Vergil can take really good advantage of this.
