MvC3: Two Girls one Corpse: The Hsien-Ko Thread!

From what has been seen, buffs (Zero’s Sogenmu, Arthur’s Golden Armor, Dante’s devil trigger, Dark Phoenix) don’t drain when a character is used as an assist. As long as they’re not “one time use” skills (Like Dorm’s Power ups for Liberation), they will star that way until tagged in on point. Then, their meters will drain.

This goes the same for on-character de-buffs apparently (such as Viewtidul Joe’s slow).

WHAT THE EFFF!?! That’s fucking ridiculous and I like it!

If you do Chireitou in the corner not all of the hits connect just whatever shows up on screen. I’ll test some of those DHC’s today.

Pendulum assist doesn’t do good chip damage it only does 2-4 hits or something like that I’ll have to test again. If you want chip damage for an assist go to Chun-Li. Her LL Assist has a ton of active frames and keeps people locked in forever. It’s enough to give Viper time to do a LVL 3 focus attack. I’m thinking of swapping out Doom Molecular Shield for Chun LL assist because it’s that fucking godlk.

Dark Force lasts forever as an assist it only decreases when they come back into play as an on point character.

Is the star the Dizzy projectile? I think it just causes a knockdown if it hits an airborne opponent but I’ll test today.

Hsien-Ko’s got some serious flaws to her but she has some of the best supers for DHCs and I strongly believe her pendulum assist is one of the few that has invicibility to it. Unfortunately, the lack of cancelling pendulum for increased movement slow air dash and forward dash makes her movement impossible. She needs assists to either get in or cover her when she’s controlling space. Discovering how she controls the space will be important because you need to master her at all ranges. I feel that f.H is going to be real good especially against Sent.

Hsien-Ko is seriously slow. Trying to get in with her vs zoning characters is a chore, but if you set up some gong shock waves and come in behind them, that seems to help. She seems very momentum oriented because once you get going with Hsien, she’s pretty dangerous but it’s very easy just to run away from her, so far. This is all day 1 though so it’s definitely subject to change.

Pendulum assist sure comes out slow though. I also hate how the gong assist comes out behind you. It’s kinda shitty for reflecting in all honesty.

So for all would be Lei lei players who have had hands on experience with her. How is she looking so far? i’ll be playing the game very soon in a day or so maybe even today. so hopefully i hear really really good stuff from her.

I feel she’s a high maintenance character that requires good assist to keep her in or help on the defensive. Unfortunately, the game mechanics of the game punishes assists far too much for my liking so it becomes a high risk team. There’s some potential but I don’t see her being anything but low-to-mid tier.

jeez i hope not. Im gonna give here the old college try for a few months and if i dont see promise. Im just gonna use Dante/Phoenix/MODOK. None of the other characters dont even interest me as mains. Except maybe Haggar…

Damn it!, Makoto all over again, why must you do this to my favorite characters Capcom?

Just playing around with her in training mode right now.

Her forward dash can be cancelled almost any time including the start up and it carries the forward momentum. If you cancel during the start up you see the dash lines but she stays in place. It’s a little odd “wave” dashing with her from far away but from up close you can forward dash circles around your opponent. It can make for some tricky left/right, hi/low mix ups.

She doesn’t have a double jump so your typical air combo is j.M, j.M, j.H, j.S, land, Tenraiha (might require a forward dash depending on where they land). Interesting enough there are no immediate tech rolls after a spike j.S that causes ground bounce so you can forward dash after the j.S wait a split second then call a low assist and then do Tenraiha for an unblockable.

Unfortunately, Hsien-Ko does not recover after dropping the anvil or the spiked balls. Although she’s back to neutral stance you can’t move her during the spiked balls bouncing around so you don’t get any follow ups UNLESS you X-factor cancel.

Senpu bu does good chip damage and in combination with Chun LL assist or Doom rocks it’s a nice chunk and you get to force a lot of offensive momentum during pendulum because the opponent must block the right way and then block the falling normal after Pendulum.

You can do pendulum a maximum of 4 times in a row. Meaning you do pendulum as soon as she recovers you can do it again up to 4 times before she just falls. A good lock down assist makes the chip damage very nasty in the corner.

Pendulum assist doesn’t do good chip damage. It’s okay I guess and I tried mashing on the assist button during the pendulum to see if she would swing back like when she’s on point but that doesn’t work as well.

Right there with ya. It took a while, but I got a handle on Makoto and I win more than I lose now, so I’ll be willing to put the time in with her to make her work. Tiers be damned.

I wouldn’t discount her as sucking yet but we do know she has slower normals and slow movement. That is definitely a hinderance in a game like marvel with characters as fast as storm and the like.

I definitely found her to feel like she was struggling to regain control most of the match, as opposed to controlling it. Maining her in DS, I definitely had a foundation with her, but she just seems SO fucking slow. I don’t know why you would slow a character down that much for a game like marvel, especially with characters with as much range, doing more damage and with more options like sentinel.

She just feels like she’s underwater. Her dash even has tons of startup. Like she just kind of stands there for a sec before teleporting, so it’s difficult to just see a projectile and then go through it. You kinda have to do it early to even get it to pass through things. I’m also pretty sure some characters can walk faster than she runs with her air dash.

Her normals seemed OK from what I’ve tested, but she definitely feels too slow - Her ground dash is pretty bad.

I’m having a hard time trying to fit her in my playstyle. I wouldn’t say she sucks, but the way I want to play her doesn’t feels like the way she is supposed to be played. I feel the problem I have with her is that you can’t cancel pendulums.

My hype for her pretty much died down.

Is pendulum xx pendulum xx pendulum xx pendulum not possible in this game?

As I mentioned before you can do a pendulum immediately after she recovers but only a max of 4 times.

There’s no way Hsien-Ko is low tier. She’s got too many useful things.

She’s not very fast, sure. But her normals and specials are rather dope.

PROTIP: midscreen, instead of doing balls super, do knives super. Not only does it do slightly more damage… Hsien Ko recovers so fast you can get a FREE TAG after it.

That new character can then do a quick beam super (Ryu, Dormammu, etc) and still combo.

PROTIP: Dark Forced Pendulum assist is seriously dope. She’ll keep going and hit Dormammu out of chaotic flame. I rank it 2nd in the “if this assist gets called shit is getting cleared out of the way” behind Haggar.

I forgot to test DF Assist, but I used it once in a match. Does the DF Effect run out while she’s tagged out? It didn’t look like it would’ve lasted as long as I used it if she were on point.

When she’s not on point, Dark Force never runs out.

Hello Mecha Zangief assist.

You can also DHC out of Dark Force Activation if Tag is too unsafe.

Confirmed? Nice. I don’t intend to relegate her to “assist-only” status, but I do want to make as much use of that as possible.

When hyper armor is active, does she slow down at all while being hit?

Here’s the thing, the “Hyper screen” disappears almost immediately after Dark Force is activated, so I don’t think you can DHC it.

There was a similar mechanic in TvC to prevent you from abusing certain Hyper moves.

I wondered about that too. If you had to you could probably use swords after a DF and use that to clear the way for a dry tag I guess.
